Chris, I used to work in an AGM and SLI battery mfg plant and I can say for certain that the example you cut open was our fault. The pole that fell from the battery plates is caused by manufacturing defect. The plates are cast long before they are dipped into the mold of the cell. If the lugs (thin fingers above the plates) are dirty, wet, or cold, the cell won't cast perfectly. Your description is incredible and I just want to share my love while giving you a bit of insight in the industry. Much love!!

Our lightbar drew too much power despite the umbilical plug in at the station constantly. It's all about being in the right place at the right time or being born into the right type of family. There's no way most of us could have ever started doing this at that age because the internet didn't even exist and people back then had to work. Kind of like certain influencers on Tik-Tok. They do spend a lot of time making videos and hoping to get views, but they don't know a thing about real work.

Good on you for adding the tip on not putting you tools on top of the battery. This is very important, and the average person really doesn't understand what can happen. I was working on a side post battery a long time ago and started talking to my son while I was wrenching on the terminals, it distracted me for a second.. The wrench made contact with both terminals and welded itself to the terminals. I grabbed the wrench and broke it loose, and it was so hot all I could do was throw it away from the battery. This all happened in about a 3 second time frame. I feel lucky that it didn't blow. I've seen batteries blow up on people before, It's not a pretty sight. I'm reminded of this everytime I use that wrench, because it had a chunk missing out of the box end where it arced to the positive terminal.

As usual Cris, a well thought out video. Your videos are informative and you don't include stuff that doesn't pertain to the video. There's nothing worse then trying to research something and end up watching someone tell you everything except the information your looking for or to watch them remove 10 bolts, for example. Keep up the good work! Thanks

One little note, when measuring voltage across the battery you should measure the voltage across the battery terminals as well to ensure there is good connectivity between bat terminals and the battery leads . Awesome video

Hi Chris how can i replace my battery cable. The old cable is short. Thank you very much.
@millomweb3 жыл бұрын
Or you could measure the voltage drop between wire terminal and terminal post.
@rael54692 жыл бұрын
I think you can also just measure resistance between the battery post and the terminal itself. It would be better to use a bonding meter so you can see the miliOhms but an ordinary multimeter will do. However, if a person has any doubt about the connection, it would be better to disconnect them and clean, clean, clean.....then reassemble and apply corrosion preventative compound.
@Dhill.angelI2 жыл бұрын
@@rael5469 how would you measure it with a digital multimeter? would i just test the post and the terminal with it on voltage or which setting?
@commonsensh5 ай бұрын
Great video very informative. I'd also add that checking the battery's date is a good step 1 when considering whether its bad or just flat. Also if the voltage drops below about 9.5V while starting its also likely going bad. my golf 1 for example still starts fine but the other day it died when I switched on the high beams while driving. I suspected the alternator initially but the battery is 5 years old soooo😂

I’m grateful for you taking the time to make these videos. I would like to add a few items that were not included. You neglected to include the fuse panels that are inside the vehicle and that you will need to be able to access them so like disabling the hood open sensor you will also need to latch the door locking mechanism to disable the sensors. Don’t forget to return them to the unlocked position before closing the doors and the hood. One more thing is that the plastic cover that you mentioned that you like to replace over the terminal after installing the new battery sometimes includes a small plug attached to it that should be installed into the unused vent port on the new battery so that harmful liquid will not leak out causing damage and you should also attach a vent tube to the other vent port on the new battery and rout the other end down and out of the vehicle. I’m not criticizing you, just trying to help the people that are looking to you for guidance. Thank you for making these videos.

There are like hundreds of Prophecies that Lord Jesus fulfilled, just look it up dear ones. God is our Father. He is the best of Fathers, the most lovable and merciful of Fathers. Hi Chris, I love your videos, 😂 have learned so many things and tricks from your videos, I want to mention that there are two more ways to test your alternator, one is with a flat screw driver putting it on the back of the alternator while the engine is running, there is a round part that it gets magnetized if the alternator is charging correctly, if it doesn’t pull the screw driver it isn’t charging. The second way is just disconnecting one of the batteries terminals, if the engine turns off then the alternator is not working.
