Tip: When you gonna cut a bolt to size, take one or two nuts and put them all the way up on your bolt before sawing the remainder off. Then when you're done cutting, you remove these temporary nuts again and that will straighten out any part of the thread that got damaged while sawing, so your final nut will go on smooth.

Usually when your window is stuck open, half way, and won't go up, you won't know if it's the Regulator or Motor, unless you take the door panel off, and your a mechanical whiz like Chris. This happened 2 times to me. Shops were quoting me $ 700.00 to fix this, and said just get a Regulator which includes the motor, because it's either one of the 2. The Regulator is triangular, and has cables in it, that lift the window, and they can break or kink up, causing the window lift not to work. In my case I ordered an aftermarket Regulator and Motor, and got it for $ 140.00, and had a body shop install it for $ 75.00 bucs -- total bill was $ 215.00.(better than $700) In my case the motors in both regulators still worked fine, but the cables in the Regulator, were all kinked up, and out of alignment. So, if your the average guy, and don't know if it's the Regulator or Motor, just order the complete unit that includes both the Regulator and Motor, and have it then installed, and Voila, you have a working window. Hope this helps someone. You can now take the tape and plastic off your half open stuck window :)

Electrician here. Really good part on the electrics side, however you could have also mentioned that if you really *need* to replace a fuse and don't have the fitting one, you could also always use a smaller size one and hope that it doesn't blow. The fuses are there to protect the components and the cable tree, and nothing else. So, if it pops at a smaller current, it really doesn't damage your car. Also it would've been cool of you to show replacement of the moisture barrier using parts that you can get at a regular hardware store. Other than that, I love your videos. Keep it up.

Another good tip is to get an inexpensive circuit tester (they sell inexpensive testers that "light up" when you complete a circuit) and use it to test for power at the fuse box as well. You hook the clamp end up to any metal part of the car that can be a ground, and then press the other end against each side of the fuse. Even if you know the fuse is good, that doesn't mean power is going to the fuse. Also make sure when you do this that the key is in the "on" position. If you see your test light "light up" then you know at the very least you have power going to and from the fuse box.

A addition to your bolt cutting from an old schooler. My father always taught me to thread a nut on the bolt above your cut. Make the cut and then use the nut as a thread chaser when removing it after you make the cut.

15:00 little trick to not damage the thread, put a nut over the screw before cutting it in half, then remove the nut and boom you got a perfect thread again
@chrisfix3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip
@bargla3 жыл бұрын
Good point, the thread should be actually rounded after cutting to provide a starting lead to the nut🔧
