Chris, I like when you stop to critique, encourage, and give advice to some of these beginner/amateur magicians. I can only imagine how over the moon excited they must feel to be looked at and mentioned by a legend, such as yourself. Stay modest, stay cool, and stay safe.

Thanks for featuring my Card Throwing !!
@Cobalt-Jester Жыл бұрын
a good few years ago I was involved in the production side of 'trick shot throws'. There 's loads of things we filmed that took weeks and weeks to get the tricks done. Then one trick we had I think was a paper plane off a 15 storey balcony into a trash can across the street. We sat down and we made thousands of these paper planes the day before set up all the cameras and lights, ran tests for sound and white balance and exposure. We started rolling and on the first try it went in. We were all jumping around for a couple of minutes before we realised not only was the day we spent making thousands of paper lanes but we could never use that clip. No one would ever believe we got it on the first try. One of the very rare occasions where having the best outcome is really the worst. lol.

Not a magician myself. But i had a friend in high school that was really into card tricks. I am naturally a very analytical person and pick up on magic tricks very easily. I cant do them myself, i will fully admit that, but I genuinely enjoy the mental puzzle of trying to figure out the “secret” behind the magic. So my friend would learn a new trick, and he would ask me to watch and analyze him while he did the tricks. I would give him feedback about it: if i figured it out, if he flashed, anything and everything i saw i would tell him. He found it to be amazing motivation to practice more (he was always excited to fool me, which only ever happened once) and perfect his skills. And i found it to be fun entertainment, and as i said before i enjoy the challenge of figuring it out. It was very beneficial for both of us

I can't express how awesome it is to see you promoting other peoples trick like this. The best part is your positivity towards people just getting into magic. They're bearing themselves to Reddit and you're giving advice and suggestions on what they can improve in a way that makes them feel better about their work. You sir are a modern day Gentleman.

so the shrinking metal, its something that has been used for years when fitting bearings etc. Metal does shrink and expand depending on if you heat or cool them. It looks like they put the ball through then heated it up causing it to expand and then the water was cold hence the steam when the ball came out

I always watch the card/coin/chip vanishing/production videos @ either half or quarter speeds to try to figure out the retention/palming points a little bit easier, which I'm sure many of you do as well. Even if you aren't interested in that, I HIGHLY recommend that you try it immediately... because the ancillary effect of hearing Chris's voice explain what's going on @ those slower speeds makes him sound like the drunkest, most wasted bar magician on the planet!!! His speaking style, tho fine at normal speed, really lends itself to the slurring out & drawling of his words in a really comedic way. Try beginning vid at 12:26 @ one quarter speed until next trick or so. I blew milk outta my nose. :D~

I have noticeable gaps between middle and ring finger, but if you hold your fingers slightly tilted towards your pinky (so you can still show them straight on) it’ll help a lot.
@kimbohlin43834 жыл бұрын
That metal is just regular metal. Ever seen railroads twisting? That's because one side get hot in the sun and one is colder, which twists the whole thing. Same principle. That metal ball in the clip is heated up using a bunsen burner (to make it expand just a tiny bit) then submerged in water to return it to its normal size where it just barely goes through the ring.

Not guessing the method. But reminds me of one of the first effects I learned at 4 with a deck of cards (10 cards). It was called “the over under swindle” so I may add this one to effects 1.
