Lots of people who don’t actually work with wood like to watch people who do because it’s cathartic. Diorama modeling has the same effect for me. I happen to be in the larval stages of woodworking, but even when I don’t have much to work on, I still come back and watch. A lot. It’s both intellectually stimulating and inspirational. My point is, there is no limit to the number of subscribers you can amass in this world, even if most of them never pick up a circular saw in their lives. Keep making beautiful furniture and creating quality videos and you’ll grow. Don’t worry.

Good Job Chris. I personally love woodworking, hope to take it up full time someday as my dad did. I have subscribed to a lot of woodworkers channels, but your approach is different and kept me glued. This was your first video which KZbin recommended, will watch the others soon.

This was the first video of yours that I saw too. My Dad was a carpenter & I guess all of my 4 brothers & I dabbled a little bit. As the only daughter in the family, my Dad was thrilled that I was his most loyal student & he loved teasing my brothers about it. I have recommended your channel to a bunch of friends & we'll all be sharing wood crafting love with others. Let me ask you this - do you use Linseed oil on most of your projects? What are your thoughts on stains & would you prefer polyurethane to varnish? I have a deep love for dark hardwoods; walnut, mahogany, cherry, etc. but I really love a good, shiny & sturdy finish to wood. What do you recommend?

My favorite features of your videos; your work is slow and meticulous, your dialogue is articulate yet understandable, you're a father and your kid(s?) make random cameos, and it is very apparent that you are both a talented designer AND and skilled, patient woodworker. Some of the best woodworking videos on youtube. I love listening to the process. Lots of woodworking tubes are really boring and slow and focus on things in the shop. I love the focus on design and the finished product. I am sure people will ping you on this or that, this method or another, say you are doing things wrong or "where is your guard" and other safety nit picks. There are a few I could mention, but as a career woodworker, a graduate of one of the best woodworking school in the country, all I have to say is: Just keep doing what you are doing.
@Foureyes.Furniture8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Titus. Yes, that was something I was very aware of going into this whole KZbin venture. I always try to beat them to the punch by saying that I am not a great woodworker, I am not a teacher, and there are better places for learning than on my channel. People will still point things out, and sometimes it's actually good advice that I can use...so, not too bad so far. I appreciate the compliment and the support!

This type of video is exactly what I've been looking for. I'm also inspired by modern furniture, but have a hard time justifying the expensive of the pieces; that's why I started wood working. It makes a real change to see someone performing the these type of projects that are educational for technique, while being the style of furniture I want to execute. I typically have to transplant the method I learn in other, more traditional videos and apply them to modern, plywood built projects. I really wish I had all the toys you do, but in time that will come! Thank you for this upload, I look forward to more of your work.

Thanks Mike. I'm kind of hesitant to "teach" because there are so many people doing that already, and most know a lot more than I do. The one area that I feel like I can separate myself in, is the design. Maybe in the future I'll try doing something about teaching design...of course a lot of it is very subjective. Found this video while looking for ideas for a sideboard inspired by the 60s/70s designers, not too different from your Sevotto. Unfortunately mine has to be short so it won't have the long low classic elegance but I'm hoping to break the relative height by fitting embellishments of thin pale wood slats along the front and sitting the cabinet on a beech or oak base to match carved legs on a chassis. I don't have the equipment you've got so most stuff I make is cut by hand and since my wife paints everything in the house I use MDF for cabinets and will have to find a wood supplier here in Scotland for the beech chassis. We are absolutely addicted to the channel of Leo Goolden, an English guy who is restoring a classic wooden yacht up in Port Townsend. Look for Tally Ho or Sampson Boat Co, the craftsmanship of those people is an absolute joy to watch and I guarantee you'll end up watching every episode as evening viewing this winter. Your work is super elegant and minimal, well done. You ought to go to Copenhagen, you'd enjoy the design there very much.

I totally dig your style, the angles the feel of simplicity. It's not just furniture its art and has passion in it, not just sampled together. Keep it up.

Thanks for another video Chris. I'm just a newbie on woodworking, made a workbench, a worktable for my wife and about to finish a bed for my daughter, and your videos do inspire me a lot. I see it impossible to achieve at the moment but we all need a motivation and get to the point where I can build something to your standards is definitely one of them! That being said, I know we can get a sketchup file fro your works through Patreon but doing step-by-step from your projects is something you considered? Making some money out of it, of course! My favorite ever is the Dresser you posted lately ... From a subscriber and enthusiast.

I like the attention to detail, and your patients. I am curious to your diversity of tools. The festools , then the grizzly. Keep up the good work.

No real rhyme or reason behind it. Just kind of what I got as I was putting my shop together piece by piece.

Thanks Neil. Glad you enjoyed. I think it was Eames who said "the details are the design"...but he was probably drunk when he said it. Just kidding 😜
