also to note, this is the final dreamworks film that’s animated in-house. dreamworks isn’t going anywhere but their movies are going to be outsourced by other animation studios overseas from now on. universal hasn’t been utilizing dreamworks as well as illumination. so please, it would mean the world to the animators and artists that worked on the film if it became a moderate success at least. show these studios that we don’t need to rely on huge IPs to make successful movies, especially in animation.

This style reminds me of the trailer for the movie Flow about a black cat in a seemingly post-apocalyptic world, that trailer also had a super stylized animation, it was just a treat for the eyes , it's heartening to see that studios are finally trying something different than the hyper realistic CGI animation of Disney/Pixar, please guys let's support these innovative animation movies so studios keep putting them out.

Chris, I fear this movie won't do well either. At first I thought it'd be due to Transformers: One, then you mentioned the thing with Beetlejuice. So now I'm worried it's cause this movie's an animated flick with a fairly original premise. Here's hoping people surprise the both of us and this breaks the box office.

My 9yo's teacher has been reading the book in class. I think this book is really big with kids 9-12, and they're gonna bring their parents to the theater. When my family goes to movies, we usually go to the dollar theater. But there's a Marcus UltraScreen DLX nearby so we go there a couple times each year for "special" releases. He has insisted that we see this one on the big screen. Of course he had been thrilled by the trailer before he ever heard of the book.

But yeah, the trailer of this also reminded me of "Puss in boots" and giving me the same vibes as that Dreamwork movie. Glad to hear this one itself being similarly good and living up to its trailer. Definitively on my "must watch"-list (as the second and final season of "Arcane" is also on that list. Recently rewatched the first season. Still a masterpiece with or without the coming final season).

The Wild Robot has amazing potential for world wide success I think. I havent seen it but its not set in one culture, and its messages are about life and death and family, there is no context to miss, or be offended by etc. It can do well in China, America, Russia, etc. Visually it is like a painting, its art style will age beautifully. In twenty years people will still appreciate its visuals.

As most of the children should already know the IP, I think it shouldn't do too terribly here - I am taking my 10 yr old daughter to tsee it this weekend with another two famities. Hope in the land of America, this book also makes to the schools literature reading list so the movie will have the right audience recognition and support.
