I had to actually pause and ask my family if she just learned to fly or learned to fall gracefully... we still don’t really know. Is the lasso like Thor’s Hammer now? Can just straight fly like Superman? It was one of the dumbest/ most convoluted parts of the movie... and the sad things it was supposed to be one the impact emotional parts.

Yeah, they really should have cut that out. Have Max give up his wish which also erases all the wishes he gave. Simpler and more believable then every person on earth giving up their wish. They literally say that it will all be reversed if the stone is destroyed and him revoking his wish is destroying the stone so it even had an in universe explanation lol They just decided to ignore that because they really wanted that cheesy montage of people revoking their wishes.

@@worshipcatalyst1 Not sure how old he was, but we know as of 2016 he had been Batman for at least 20 years. It's safe to say his parents were long dead in 1984. This is the problem with the DCEU. They tried to compete with Marvel's MCU but wanted to have their big Avengers team-up stuff right away instead of putting the groundwork in first. So now the whole thing has splintered and they're churning out standalone films that can't even decide whether or not they're part of a shared universe anymore. The result is an endless stream of uninspired junk that would have been considered passably mediocre 20 years ago, let alone now.

I'm tired of movies using the "nerdy ugly duckling" cliche. It's trying to tell us that these (people who are gorgeous btw) aren't attractive because they're nerdy. They did show her going home. It's where she went when she first learned to fly. Then they showed her flying to the final battle. As for Cheetah, I don't know why she became Cheetah. David Callaham one of the three screenwriters on the film (Jenkins, and Geoff Johns the other two) has the 'Doom' film adaptation and all three'The Expendables' films on his resume. I think that says a lot. Jenkin's would have been taking the advice of the other writers who either have DC & Marvel comic book experience or fantasy genre experience as this isn't her forte. Let's not forget Zack Snyder was still a producer on this film as well.

Finally watched it (the movie just recently became available here in Germany). I was kind of primed to hate it from what I'd been hearing, but actually found myself enjoying the first half hour or so quite a lot. The goofiness of the first action scene stayed squarely in Donner territory and thankfully never quite crossed the line into Lester-land, and I felt the movie was getting a lot right about Wonder Woman's character while having a lot of fun with her. I liked Barbara Minerva's character, even though she was kind of a familiar superhero movie villain trope and I enjoyed Pedro Pascal as Max Lord. So I started to feel maybe I'd been misled and this movie was kind of awesome ... But then it started going downhill really quickly. I would've forgiven the problematic return of Steve Trevor if that was all that was wrong with this movie, but there was so much more that broke my enjoyment of it. The plot just fell apart like a Jenga tower and some of the action was just laughably badly staged, which was a real surprise after the first movie and the first couple of scenes of this one. I feel sorry for the cast, because they were all pretty awesome. Gal Gadot remains a brilliant choice to play Wonder Woman, I enjoyed seeing Chris Pine back in this (even if his return was really badly plotted) and Kristen Wiig and Pascal both did a great job with some lame material. Considering that Patty Jenkins has been saying in interviews that this was her own true vision, without any interference from the studio, this is really disappointing. And honestly, I think the studio's public commitment to keeping her on for the next Wonder Woman movie now looks like a mistake.

How about this: Someone thought the 1984 setting was so important they put it in the movie title. The movie, on the other hand, could have been set in any time frame and it would not have changed a thing. In a movie called Wonder Woman 1984, the 1984 setting is COMPLETELY POINTLESS. I'm slowly starting to realize that they did not actually get a single thing right in this movie. Everything was a miss.

Maybe it's like how Disney titled their movie "Frozen" because they knew if you typed up Disney + Frozen, their kid's film would pop up instead of results popping up about Walt Disney being cryogenically frozen or whatever. Now that surveillance is getting scrutinized at an all-time high these past few years, people will start to hear more references to George Orwell's "1984" as the comparisons have become uncomfortably similar. This way they can curve curiosity with bombarding search results with a big-selling blockbuster (emphasis on the bust). It's a stretch, it's more of a reason then Marvel is willing to put out right now.

One issue I had with the film that wasn’t mentioned was that they took her primary weapons away. Removing her sword and shield really hurt the action scenes. The lasso was ok but after a while I felt it was being overused. It was too much like watching a Spider-Man movie with her swinging around the whole film. Wonder Woman is supposed to be a warrior, and this film didn’t really showcase that compared to the first WW and BvS.

Yup. Start the story at the White House, throw in an extended flashback to explain what made Minerva what she is (George Perez figured something way more interesting and touching for the Cheetah in the 1988 comic reboot) and lets watch Diana fight her, lose, rethink the problem and go after this great villain with sword, shield and renewed attitude. That's the movie I want. Keep Wiig - I honestly think she's the best thing here: the feelings of loss, anger, determination when she fights Diana the first time are all in her eyes. She was the true MVP here, IMHO.

Personally, I would've: 1) Made Hades the villain, which means no Dreamstone with all its convoluted mechanics. Hades simply comes to Diana and offers to revive Steve in exchange for her godly status and powers. 2) As you said, make the fact the Diana loses her powers the central point of the film. Like, she makes the deal and she immediately wakes up next to Steve (who's in HIS body) and without her powers. And she has to actually experience life as a human for a good portion of the film, like Peter Parker in Spider-Man 2. It would've been doubly interesting for Diana, because her story is all about a goddess understanding humanity. The first movie was about her having a first glimpse of our nature, but still from her position of superiority. This one could've been her actually experiencing human life as one of us.

Hades the God of the underworld?! Yuck. Give it a break. The Guy was no evil. Just watch Hercules and Percy Jackson and clash of the titans instead. He was no evil.

@@6-cats I know, I know, he's used way too much as a villain. It was just to say, use some entity from the Greek mythology with power over the underworld. Not necessarily Hades. I don't know, Medusa, Persephone, Circe. Anything but that damned Stone🤣

My first thought when everyone started revoking their wishes was that that one woman who had a heart attack isn't going to revoke her wish, she was dead during Diana's whole speech. So those people that got arrested and deported are gone forever lol

@@SaiyanShoto Its obviously implied when it showed the guy Revoke his wish. God damn some of you dont even watch or listen because your minds were already made before watching the movie. If revoking a wish removed a 30 story wall in moments. Then a person who died from the wish is obviously going to come back. If you can Revoke your nuke wish after bukes were already launched. Then a person who died by wish is obviously coming back. If explosions disappeared mid explosion like nothing happened. A person who died by the wish is coming back. Also your hypothetical is just that. A hypothetical. Dude revoked his wish then she did too is a hell of a lot more plausible than what you just said.

@sbi168 I don't think this works. If we revert all the reactions to the wishes, when Max Lord renounces his wish, no One (except Diana and Barbara) could have made a wish. We create a whole bunch of new plot holes. The second act would not start. Trevor would still be "alive", because Diana renounces him only to stop Max. We are probably putting more though into this than the filmmakers.

@@MrSpatafrano I don't think it reverts all actions just the cause and effect, but I suspect you are right, putting too much thought into this. @@sbi168 @sbi168 I think you are right, the film was ok and I suspended my disbelief most of the time. It's a corny 80'-like superhero movie. Just it didn't work for me about the nukes. It's a film set during the cold war.

The mall action scene immediately made me question "Who is this movie for?", because that whole scene looked like it was made for 7 year olds. It was really bad in every way. Bad action, bad dialogue, bad acting, and bad cinematography. I was just laughing throughout that scene because it was so goofy and cringe at the same time.
