SPOILER The trailer made us believe that the reveal would be on the third act. "There is a reason you woke up early" said Pratt in a trailer, a scene that wasn't in the movie. And Andy Garcia is in this movir for 2 seconds so i guess massive reshoots were done or the movie was completely changed during the montage
@artist64907 жыл бұрын
lestat1886 I thought the exact same thing. when I saw him say "there was a reason you woke up" in the trailer I thought it was going to be more psychological. waited for it the whole movie but was let down. shocker

What if the movie revolved around just Chris Pratt coming out of isolation and enjoying his time alone, like a kid who is awake at night while his parents sleep. Then he sees the cryogenic chamber of Jennifer Lawrence and develops a crush on her. He visits her and tells her stories, his dreams, and his ambitions in life. He finally confesses that he is attracted to her (thinking she doesn't hear). Chris grows bored with his isolation and finds a way to go back in his cryo-chamber. Just before he does, the ship's systems go critical and releases the other cryogenic chambers. It's a safe lock that causes all the passengers to suffocate, kind of like self-detonation. Chris must race against time to save the other passengers, especially Lawrence, and stabilize the ship. Once he does, the ship continues on but Lawrence is released from her chamber. She reveals to Pratt that she heard everything he said and wants to enjoy the remaining time in isolation with him. The movie ends with them embarking on the ship to enjoy their life in isolation together.

then it would be straight-up romance movie. the very point movie (as far as I see) makes is 'A drowning man will always try to drag you down with him. It ain't right, but it's the truth'. Gus' main question to Jim isn't even 'why'. It's 'How long'. I liked the idea I saw somewhere for the alternate ending. Jim actually dies saving the ship. No miracle resuscitation. Aurora is both sad and relieved since the whole betrayal is still fresh. She lives. She jogs. She eats breakfast. She looks at another pod with a man inside looking nothing like Jim. The End.

I thought it was kinda strange that all these glitches were happening but no one cared until the crew member woke up. like wtf? but personally I thought the struggle felt pretty real like when Jim had to choose between waking up Aroura or not. like I felt the struggle personally it was so strong. and when Jim sacrificed himself and survived but then started freezing and telling Aurora how he was sorry and stuff I cried.

shamrock shamrock I'll say I enjoyed the movie too. I didn't think it was bad not fantastic. I despise when people hate the movie over "it's promoting tape or abuse" BS. I never saw Jims action as "bad" per say. It's a simple question that isn't a black or white choice, wake up a person, knowing you will be ruining their life forever or don't do it and go mentally insane and it will probably be a matter of time till Jim will attempt suicide.

The thing that really bothers me about Jennifer Lawrence is that she isn't grateful for any of the movies she's done that got her famous. She has straight up said that she hates the x men franchise and doesn't want to do it anymore and she has subtly hinted at hating the hunger games. I understand that Kirsten Stewart hates the twilight franchise cause hat was ass, and while I personally didn't obsess over the hunger games movies like others, they weren't bad at all. It just annoys me when people are ungrateful for the projects that rocketed them to stardom.

i think it would have been more emotionally poignant for them to have had to forcefully wake up a crew member to help them fix the ship. Basically being forced to ruin someone's life in order save the lives of others. Perhaps that person could have been jennifer lawrence herself. That would have been an interesting story. Simply having the deck chief conveniently wake up just in the nick of time to serve the plot and then immediately die seemed ham fisted and lazy. I just think that this plot could have gone a miltitude of ways and chose the most generic one.

Finally saw this with my wife and we both really enjoyed it. I watched this review and saw the low score on rotten tomatoes, but I really don't understand all the hate. It was a highly original movie that was quite thought provoking. Imagine waking up and realizing you are going to spend the rest of your life alone with thousands of people are you. It's like being stranded on a small island with water all around you with nothing to drink. I've never in my life had to think about the implications of damning someone to my same predicament just to not feel alone. Loved the movie. The ending was very predictable after a certain part and a bit cliché, but the first parts make up for all that.

I agree entirely. Such a good movie, exploring the situation thoroughly, focussing on the human element. The emotional torment, the realisation that your life is ruined and how to overcome. And like Whitesimurgh said, these two expected some sci-fi thriller movie, they saw the trailer and went in expecting one thing, and got another. I went in blind. Totally blind, no trailers, no clue, nothing. Didn't even know the plot synopsis. And I loved it.

It wasn't bland at all. He almost killed himself because of his isolation, then he found her pod in his darkest moment and fell in love with her thoughts and her bio before he even had to make this monumental choice that would either help her carry out her goal or to be selfish and put her in the same boat as himself
@fernandomachado68927 жыл бұрын
Randizzleee well said! I feel exactly the same way. I really enjoyed this film by putting myself in their position and trying to see it from their perspective. I don't understand why critics are not liking this movie, maybe they've seen too many movies lol
@torywoods59117 жыл бұрын
Fernando Machado probably because of the casting. Pratt and Lawrence are too popular for a movie like this I guess. With no name actors and actresses they would say it's a gutty performance lol

i was excited for this film. i really was. And while i had a good time watching it, and really enjoyed how the atmosphere and ship looked....i wouldnt watch thia again probably. I dont think these guys touched on it, but i really really liked the re-occurring theme in this film of the serious irony on how something can be so close, yet SO far away. From Pratt being all alone yet with thousands of people sleeping all around him. Or the Control Room being right there with just a single wall between them he cant get through...even to the small little fact he can only get regular black coffee while the fancier ones are right there, but unavailable to him (because he waant a gold member lol)....these were probably my favorite parts of the film. for me anyways. Its like these guys said though... It made you feel like the whole film was building up to something and then the pay off was meh/nothing.
@333br7 жыл бұрын
Mr. Fett Esq. Agreed with everything but...i will still watched again to understand the "technical" dialogue.
