I rejected Christianity too. I still believe in God, but not the Christian God(s)

I believe Jesus of Nazareth as God-with-us applies to me, not the Bible. He's constantly loving his creation (as we mostly turn away).

I find the existence of good as inexplicable as the existence of evil. When somebody does something horrific people ask 'why? what was the motive?' but nobody asks that when someone does something self sacrificing and altruistic. We accept good as the norm but there is no logical reason to do so. If you loose your wallet with money in it why would you expect the money to still be there if you get it back? There is no logical reason to do that. I dont understand why people cite the existence of evil as a reason for loss of faith. regardless of faith, the real question is not 'why is there evil in the world?' the real question is: what are you going to do about it?
@Ken_Scaletta9 күн бұрын
Scientists do ask questions about altruism and guess what, there's an answer. We are a social species. We are selected for traits that serve to benefit the larger group, not just individuals. Why do animals nurse their young? Because of "morality?" No, they are just biologically programmed to do so and so are we. We are a herd animal. We are selected for traits like group-bonding, pair-bonding, altruism and nurturing of offspring. Those impulses are baked into our genetics. We had them before we were humans. Morality exists in other animals too. Why does a worker bee sacrifice its life for the queen? Morality? No, just good old evolution.

@Ken_Scaletta and sometimes nature goes wrong. Some people do not have empathy and do terrible things. The world is imperfect. We have no right to expect otherwise. We just have to deal with it. I think some theologians have perversely decided that it is evil that creates good. They say that without evil there is no possibility of being good because without it there would be no circumstances requiring sacrifice for a higher cause. Not sure I buy that. I just think life is messy, and miraculous that there is anything worth living for at all. We should all just count our blessings and get on with it.

It's inexplicable how you've confused yourself to believe the problem of evil only a problem with humanity. Losing faith in God isn't the same thing as losing faith in humanity. The problem of evil has more to do with the evil of God; namely,the lack of divine infinite good in God to stop the limited evil in man, but also applies to the evil of God, which is the existence evil in the first place. That makes God not-good. They'd an inexplicable lack of evidence for good, and that it doesn't source from God, it sources from humanity. Even you are using humanity as the example of good as the reason to believe in God. Your argument is nonsense. That's why you "don't understand" it. Because you think it's the evil of man that causes a crisis of faith for people. That's not why people lose faith, but it doesn't help when Christians are examples of evil (they're supposed to be better in touch with God and the truth, but are in average just as bad as the general public with their criminality). So evidence of the power of the faith is superbly lacking. The problem people have with evil is the lack of good of to prevent evil, not the human capacity to do good that's lacking, it's God's lack of capacity to do good. Infinite good should produce and infinite lack of evil. This is an ancient line of reasoning all the way back to the Greeks. If your God can't do anything about evil, he's not all powerful. If your God won't do anything about evil, he is not all good. Furthermore, if the good in humanity is your only evidence of the good of God, such as returning a wallet, you have a very unconvincing faith in a very small god who is fully dependent on human actions to manifest.

One of your best interviews. Will definitely check out Tristan's channel. I'm not an "ist" at all, I simply and truly enjoy these discussions and personal stories. My faith in Christ and reasoning are still fully intact. 😅

Why does it matter if it was AD 70? The Gospel is about God being restored back to humanity. The end times nobody knows what it will be or won't be. This is eternal life to know Christ. God lives inside of us. I plead with you to stop trying to figure God almighty out in your own understanding. And simply enjoy your union with Christ right now. He's your Father and this is best good news ever. Christ In you . The hope of glory. Your one with Christ. Talk to Him

Jesus had nail scarred hands because he was a carpenter, he built his own cross but didn't hang around doing nothing. His cross is held in hand, so he can continue working for our being. God did a number on the world and Jesus being quantum mechanic has fixed the quaint um. It needed an i and some space to grow into a new being. The Bible is true but it is not honest. Honesty is free if you can pay the price to society. Jesus sees this honesty and doesn't want society to pay for it. Jesus does not control God's actions, nor can he. It will take the whole being of earth with Jesus to capture our honest truth of life from God. You read y? To get ready.

@Ken_Scaletta ineffable is what you are describing. A weakened mind who thinks meds are made to fix the mind would be hard to convince otherwise. Keep the faith with your doctor because you don't know health of the mind. I on the other hand do. The pilled up people will take the side of the one's who fed it to them. I won't be pharmed.

7:09 I love your channel but gonna have to bail on his guy at this point. I don’t see why God can’t allow evil and I think that someone rejecting God because of it is just as silly as someone believing in God because there’s ‘good’ in the world. Considering he would be a different kind of being, what God sees as good and evil could be totally different to us. I just hear that argument and think that it’s a child’s line of reasoning.

So Matthew 24:34 contains a mistranslation or corruption of the text. Syriac versions also translate this word (generation) as "Tribe" ( meaning the Israelites) also in Matthew 24:36. Jesus states that he doesnt know the date of the last day. So how could he say the end will come "in this generation" 2 verses before? This is clearly an attempt to discredit Jesus by trying to make it look like he made a false prophecy. CS Lewis is a dumspter fire of a theologian so dont think you can get off that easy..
@germanboy1410 күн бұрын
The Gospels were written in Greek and most manuscripts say generation as well as the other gospels and Jesus made false prophecies. Its a known fact
@andrewclemons861910 күн бұрын
@@germanboy14 the gospel was originally written in Hebrew according to my research. Then translated into Greek. You're aware the apostles weren't Greeks right? Also noone claims that we have the original gospels. It's common knowledge we don't have the masters if you will. They say Jerome translated the Hebrew Gospel and many early church historians quote from it. James Edwards has a nice book about the development of the synoptic tradition.

@@andrewclemons8619 the gospels we have are original Greek works. GMat and GLuke copied GREEK GMark. They copy from Greek torah translations and yes, the apostles wouldn't have been able to write in Greek. One reason why the gospels we have don't go back to Jesus
