I started following you for pre natal & postpartum workouts, however, I have gained so much more from these videos that have practical, easy to understand advice! Most importantly, as a Christian, these types of videos (including the one you did discussing clothing) have been extremely timely and encouraging to me personally. I will be sharing this video with my fellow Mommas ❤

Actually fighting back the tears. I am so convicted. My husband and I just had a talk this morning about discipline and raising up children in the fear of the Lord, with respect to authorities, and how to be firm, consistant and loving. Then I watched this, and the Lord just impressed on me the need to confess my faults, ask for grace, and continue on. Thank you, thank you, thank you. MORE OF THIS STUFF PLEASE. This is what Mamas everywhere need. Not coddling for lazy behaviors, or justifying becoming complacent. Thank you.

I really enjoyed this video Ashley! We had our third baby a few months ago and I have been feeling in a funk lately feeling the need to power up my motherhood and homemaking. I was really intrigued by the "Wise words for moms" product you described in that video. That sounds like a really good resource! I also liked how you include the consequence of disobedience and set perfectly clear expectations with your children. I will say that the big subtitles that were constantly changing and the body movement to illustrate the concepts you were talking about made it pretty hard for me to focus. I had to go back a few times realizing I was getting distracted and not paying attention to what you were saying anymore. But again, I really enjoyed what you talked about and will definitely be implementing some of these concepts! Thank you always for your content on intentional motherhood!

Lindsay, congratulations to you and your family on having your 3rd baby just a few months ago! I'm really glad this video was good timing for you to get out of the typical postpartum funk (yes I get it, too!) and move forward with conviction. I'm so glad you let me know you don't like the fancy subtites and it's too easy for me to DO LESS WORK and not include them on future videos. My intent is to be as clear and helpful to as many women as possible and I don't want to do anything that detracts from that. THANK YOU for telling me!

With love and appreciation, I will second that the quick-changing and large subtitles are distracting. I know some viewers may need subtitles, so I don't want to dismiss their needs! 🫂 Perhaps a compromise would be to have longer strands of text on the screen at once, so the change isn't as rapid. Personally I'm not a fan of the word being highlighted as it's being said, singalong style, but that's me. 😅 I would imagine that most who rely or prefer subtitles can keep pace without the highlighted guide. I personally often use cc/subtitled as my video-watching time is usually while my kiddo is napping, so maybe don't throw out the baby with the bathwater? 😆 Your speech and articulation are excellent! And when you roll naturally with your topics, you are most inspiring! That all being said, I really appreciate your extra care to make sure your message can get across as clearly as possible to as many people as possible. 🤗🥰 Thank you for receiving the suggestions with grace and humility - I'm offering this only as a suggestion, and I don't expect you to make your videos how I and only I want 😂

These are all great points and reminders, Ashley! Thank you for using your platform to glorify God as you encourage mothers and wives. I agree that the subtitles aren't necessary (especially if it causes MORE work for you! 😄). The words you say stand on their own - no subtitles or gesticulating needed (in my opinion) 🤗 my husband was in the military and I am so thankful for his example and experiences. He was taught so much about self-discipline, courage, and responsibility.

Phew, I understand that sentiment for sure! Different seasons are extremely hard with particular children. James chap 1: 2-4 is a solid memory verse for you if you don't know it already. A reminder to count it a JOY (mind boggling for my pea-sized brain) when you are faced with trials because it is a testing of the faith that produces steadfastness. Anyways, just know I relate 100% and I'm glad this video was timely for you.

Angie, it's Ashley. Congrats on expecting your little girl to be added to your family this coming July! You may not have realized this, but your statement almost gave me *permission* to make my videos longer. I almost always cut out paragraphs or even entire points for the sake of ensuring I don't "bore" people because the click-out rate keeps getting shorter and shorter. No doubt my brain is more goldfish-like than my mother's or grandmother's was simply due to our access to entertainment and education at our fingertips. For this reason, I chop my videos shorter and remove any pauses more than 2 seconds so that ppl don't click away and miss something that could impact them. Anyways, just a THANK YOU for that encouragement that I can make longer videos once a while and someone out there may have the patience to watch or listen.

I’m so excited to do the 12week PP plan again and then follow either the 10 min plan after that or the LFSC plan! Great video! I really appreciate your insights and desire to parent in a way that honors God! A couple of things: While I totally agree that we should be feeding our children healthy, well-balanced meals and avoiding things like food dyes and processed sugars (and I do think they can affect us in all sorts of ways), I want us as Christian moms to be cautious of falling into a Pelagian view of anthropology. This view presents man as essentially good and capable of making moral choices, therefore sin must be the response to environment. Augustinian anthropology, on the flip side, is consistent with the biblical idea of total depravity and recognizes that sin stems from our fallen nature. In the throes of a toddler tantrum, I've often found myself thinking or saying, "well, she's acting like this because she's tired or because she ate sugar, etc., etc." when actually those external pressures simply exposed whatever sins she struggles with. I want to be clear that as parents we shouldn't be unnecessarily foisting difficulty on our children to get at the root of their sin (that training should be done patiently and with love and care throughout the natural course of the day) but neither should we excuse a child's bad behavior with what amounts to a "the devil/sugar made me do it." I don't think you were saying that, but I do know that it's a common perception in our culture. LOVE that you brought up teaching your kids to respect authority, the importance of that, and the language they use to do that! As an interesting note, most pastors split the ten commandments into the first four and the latter six. They'll say that the first four apply to God and the next six to man. Our pastors argue it should be split five-five since "Honor your father and mother." has a direct connection to God since parents represent God to their children. We see this in the OT where an adult child who struck or cursed his parents was to be stoned to death (Ex. 21:15, 17), the severity of the punishment reflected that the authority of God Himself had been violated.
@glowbodypt
@glowbodypt 9 ай бұрын
Outstanding feedback! Totally onboard with total depravity - we are completely and utterly unable to save ourselves and it is by God's mercy that he bestows grace upon those he foreknew. That first one regarding nutrition/activity is just a basic standard that it's practically more difficult to raise children who will listen, learn, and obey if we as parents aren't setting a healthy environment for them. Clearly the children in the wilderness during Exodus and Numbers survived on just manna -- in this way God provided just enough nutrients in a way that we can't even comprehend, but He did it! I think you got the jist of it though and your further clarification is awesome. : ) Regarding dishonoring your parents is also dishonoring God- agree. We chat about this some in Firm30 too!!

Thank you for this!!! I only have a five month old daughter, but I have been praying fervently for The Lord to give my husband and me wisdom in disciplining! My parents were abusive, and my husband was evidently a very well behaved child who needed minimal discipline, so neither of us have great experience to reflect upon when it comes to proper discipline. Just this short video helped me feel better about the ways we do plan to discipline when our daughter is older, and when we have more children (Lord willing).

I agree with all of this! Another wonderful and helpful discipling tool is 24 Family Ways by Sally and Clay Clarkson. This is the foundation of much of our training and discipline in our home. When a behavior problem arises, we go back to the family way that it’s related to. Then, we ask our children about the family way, and if they are upholding it, reminding them of the promises and scripture connected to obeying the commands of the Lord. Of course, all of the 24 family ways are rooted in scripture.

Judee, how old is your youngest? Truth and Grace memory catechism books (3 book series) start at 2 and goes up through youth. We are "behind" on these because I only bought them a few months ago, but we are working our way through Book 1 doing memory verses that are listed for each age and catechisms. These are Reformed Baptist books - straight Bible based with verses to support everything in what I would consider a systematiclly approved manner (meaning verses aren't taken out of context to try to say something that wasn't intended by the original authors speaking God's word). I use Wise Words for Moms ages 5 and up....but I bet you could start earlier!

Thank you for your words of wisdom! I am currently doing your pregnant with my 2nd and doing your prenatal program. But sometimes while I'm exercising, my 2 year old daughter would ask me again and again to play with her. I would tell her I will play with her after I'm done with the video because it's important for mommy to exercise. She would probably wait for 5 minutes, and then ask again. I want to set a good example to her that it's important to take care of our bodies (like your point #1), but do you think it would cause her to think exercise > her? (note: i'm definitely not an exercise junky...just 30 mins a day).

Dear Ashley, Hi! :) I wanted to ask if you’d received the gift of the Holy Ghost since you believed, and also if you’d obeyed the gospel? The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, was shed for the remission of sins.❤️ By calling upon the name of the Lord in baptism, that is how that precious blood is applied to us. Sadly, many in the churches today are taught that they are washed from their sins the moment they believe, or by saying a “sinner’s prayer”, but the apostles of Jesus Christ never preached anything like that. “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” ‭‭(Acts‬ ‭2:38‬ ‭KJV‬‬) “And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” ‭‭(Acts‬ ‭22:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬) Praise the Lord. I hope this helps you ❤
