Thank you, Jared! 😊 Really appreciate this one. When prophets repeat things, it's for emphasis, not just because they like the sound of it. So we should ponder WHY they are emphasizing those things.

Elder Russell M. Nelson observed: "Elder Bruce R. McConkie was a great friend. His door was always open to me, and I frequently imposed upon his graciousness, asking him questions that possibly only he could answer." Considering that Elder McConkie had been diagnosed with terminal cancer eighteen months before his death, Elder Nelson said, "I look upon the extra year of life that he was granted as a period for the training of Elder Dallin H. Oaks and me. We are greatly in his debt and miss him very much." From: "Bruce R. McConkie Story: Reflections of a Son," by Joseph Fielding McConkie

While I fully respect Elder McConkie. It is stated in the Rise of Modern Mormonism that David O. McKay, while as the prophet of the church, specifically told Bruce R. McConkie not to publish the book and that after he did publish the the book against his request, President Mckay went through the book and found over 1000 errors . I think it was Nibley that pointed out the error in identifying the great and abominable, alluding that the scriptures had been corrupted long before the organization that McConkie identified even existed. The point being that any of the brethren can write books, but that doesn't make what they say church doctrine. Because the writers of the Book of Mormon were not allowed to write about latter-day events beyond the fall of Babylon, many general authorities have written on topics that have not yet been fully revealed, which is really just their own speculation. Even the church study guides are not necessarily classified as church doctrine, they will often quote other scholars or even make statements like so and so believes that. They are study guides. When the general authorities state something that has clearly been classified as doctrine it will be stated categorically otherwise when speaking on topics that have not yet been fully revealed or endorsed by the church collectively I think we have to treat it as speculation.

I was just thinking of the statement about the Savior governing from two Capitals, the New and Old Jerusalem. There have been only two Countries that have been dedicated to God, they are Israel and America.

So glad you linked the special witnesses video from 2000. I sang in that video, the rendition of the hymn “Testimony” after President Hinckley delivers his message (before hops closing remarks). There was about 20 or so of us - members of the BYU Men’s Chorus, in the LDS movie studio in Orem. They did a trick to have us sing it a couple times in different positions, and then layered the tracks together to make us sound like a larger choir.

I really like the companion scripture to Isaiah 40:5 found in D&C 101:23, which has additional insights. I can see the preference to use Isaiah 40:5 as he is the prophet to the world and his message is to a greater audience than just the members of the church. Perhaps he is using Isaiah 's words and emphasizing this prophecy to lay some common groundwork with the Jewish community as preparation. I like how D&C 101:23 clarifies that the "it" used in Isaiah's words is "me" (the Lord). Instead of "glory of the Lord shall be revealed" phrase being using by Isaiah, our latter day revelation says "veil of my temple . . . shall be taken off". I love the added clarity.

I always liked that quote by Elder Hales and I always wonder just how The Living Christ will be necessary to have in the future, other than that people in and out of the church are plenty confused about Jesus' character and I suppose that could lead to them not recognizing or accepting Him when He actually comes because He's not like they thought He would be.

In relation to the proclamation of the family being a warning and a precursor to threats to the family, what would the proclamation of the Messiah be a precursor to or warning of??? The single Anti-Christ seems to be the obvious thing that this is a warning of!!! 17 And the Lord will set his hand again the second time to restore his people from their lost and fallen state. Wherefore, he will proceed to do a marvelous work and a wonder among the children of men. 18 Wherefore, he shall bring forth his words unto them, which words shall judge them at the last day, for they shall be given them for the purpose of convincing them of the true Messiah, who was rejected by them; and unto the convincing of them that they need not look forward any more for a Messiah to come, for there should not any come, SAVE IT SHOULD BE A FALSE MESSIAH which should deceive the people; for there is save one Messiah spoken of by the prophets, and that Messiah is he who should be rejected of the Jews. 2 Nephi 25

I've been pondering Moroni 2:2 - "Now Christ spake these words unto them at the time of his first appearing; and the multitude heard it not, but the disciples heard it;" Why would Moroni include this if he was in such precarious circumstances, and without much ore or ability to write? I also have been stunned since the announcement of the Rome Temple. Too many reasons, but I had dreamed of going to the dedication, but it didn't happen. But I have felt it a very, very important announcement and temple to be built before the apostles all went. When they were announcing the Visitor's Center having the replicas of Thorvaldsen's Christus and apostles, I was especially moved. I had run into a man at Salt Lake Temple Square who was visiting the Christus. He was from Denmark and had been baptized in the Church of OUr Lady in Copenhagen (the place the original sculptures are featured). I was really overcome b the Spirit to ponder on that in that moment and the feelings never left me, so it hit me very hard hearing the Rome Temple would have this. I'm convinced Moroni put that into the Book of Mormon as he contemplated *the* most important things to give to our day to remind us that those the Lord calls to lead His church are in literal direction of Him. This video is really great in it aligns so much with what I have been pondering and studying on my own. It makes me feel like the Spirit is acting on many of us to be thinking and studying on these same topics and sources and so forth. Thank you. This is one more exciting thing to help me think about what it is the Spirit may be trying to help me understand better. I appreciate you taking the time to research and share your insights!

I remember years ago Elder Bruce McConkie saying we were still in the Catacombs. Jared could this be the hinge point? that we are no longer in the Catacombs and are well known and significant in the world? A Temple in the heart of the Roman Catholic Church WOW. Thanks for your insights.

I usually forget that the Rome temple was dedicated quite so recently, but I do like that it was finished before the pandemic came, with Italy being hit one of the hardest places in the world. I bet having a temple in their country helped their situation as far as help from the other side in that country, and as people lost loved ones, they could more easily and sooner do temple work for them.

i was looking at your spreadsheet and I missed seeing the vision that John Taylor had in 1877 shortly after the death of Brigham Young. It was recorded in Wilford Woodruff's Journal 1833-1898 ed. Scott Kinney. Vol 7:419-423. It is also found in a book called "Unpublished Revelations of the Prophets and Presidents of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" Vol 1, Comp by Fred C Collier p 119-123

The words of the prophets have always been repetitive, haven’t they? It’s all about the basics, the principles of the gospel. Although we are always wanting to hear something different, but other things don’t really matter.

The other things that are repeated by the prophets ARE part of the gospel. Milk + Meat + Mysteries.

@@shandimuir124 I was talking more along the lines of: Pres. Eyring, oct. gen. conf. 2024: “It is tempting to try something new or sensational. But the Holy Ghost will reveal the spirit of truth only as we are cautious and careful not to go beyond teaching true doctrine. One of the surest ways to avoid even getting near false doctrine is to choose to be simple in our teaching. Safety is gained by that simplicity, and little is lost.” Little is lost, like things that don’t matter much.

President Nelson is preparing us for the second coming, telling us the second coming as soon, and urging us to remember the Lord is coming, endure the trials of these last days, and continually look to and hope for his Glory and rest when the king of Kings is here.

Don't get me wrong, Jared. I love your channel (especially your spreadsheet) and passion about the imminent return of the Lord, you and other casters like Kaitlan on Anticipating Christ's Return - like it's going to happen anytime, in the next year, or two, or even 10. I so wish it was. But read your scriptures. Don't interpret every little comment or weird coincidence or set of numbers or 7 as a sign. I believe it will be soon, but IMO too much still has to happen. Just prepare yourself for it as if it's going to happen tomorrow.

I would go one step further, live your life like it’s going to happen tomorrow. I would rather be found heavily engaged in doing good than staring up at the sky or into the internet and just waiting on him to return. This subject is a fun hobby to look at once in a while but will lead you astray as sure a any thing else.
