She was more Marcia Brady than Maureen was. Christine hit all of the pretty privilege aspects of character to perfection.

I flagged the scripts to all the Brady Bunch episodes, and re-watched every single instance where Marcia used the word, “school.“ Maureen McCormick never pronounced it as “skyool.” Not once. It’s funny how a parody like this can warp how people remember reality.

the delivery of that "Sure Jan" plus the shady look was so perfectly delivered that it resonates with anyone who sees it. She did a fantastic job. Also I can't believe the director would ever tell her to say Skèwl normally! That's blasphemy!
@paulamiles955910 ай бұрын
I really liked Christine's portrayal up to then, but when she said " skewl" I fell in love. Jennifer and Christine were the experts who kept everything on point all the time. My sister and I were fanatics on the Marcia/ Jan stuff. so " Sure, Jan" was a gift to us.

Looks like Christine has aged incredibly well. I had a big crush on her in the early 90s when she played Melody in "Hey Dude." Embarrassing fact: I used to pray to dream about her before I went to sleep, ha! Harmless enough, I was only 8 or 9. Also loved her as Marcia. This week I've been haunted by this Marcia quote: "But Jan...you don't have any friends..."

She’s a genius and that director is stupid for trying to get her to say school normally. Why would you want less entertainment that is organic to the characters in your movie?

The director was more than likely not familiar with the odd pronunciation. The director claimed she did not watch the Brady Bunch before she was signed on as director.

What makes her performance so good is the character study of Maureen McCormick’s Marcia. As children of the 70s we had limited options to watch on tv after school except The Brady Bunch reruns so we knew ALL the little quirks of the characters and she just nailed it.

I have always loved CHristine! So pretty and cool. But never have I loved her more than after seeing this clip! Because one of the greatest things about the BB movie and her lovingly perfect portrayal of Marcia, was that she said: "skewl" -- to think that actually came from her and not the movie makers. She should have a piece of the backend profits lol
