Thank you for joining me again. Recipe is here on my site www.kylieflavell.com/index.php/2021/12/04/christmas-fruit-mince-pies/. If you have a question about the music I use, I generally purchase every track you hear in my work from special production music sites so they’re not available to the public unless you want to pay $50 or $70 a track and when I download them for one-time use, I get a code with no details of the artist. 🎶 😊 Please do let me know if you have any requests for recipes for the next Christmas episodes! 🎄😘 Xxx Kylie

I remember my Grandmother, ( who was English), telling me a story about all she got for Christmas was an orange. She held it in her hand and smelled it over and over, then cut a hole and sucked out the juice before slowly peeling it. I always gave my kids an orange as a reminder of how something so insignificant to them was the world to another person.

Kylie, Being called Bellissima by Alain Delon is just fabulous. He is such an icon in France. These mince tartlets look delicious, I will add to my dessert table. I like the Provençal tradition of the ''Treize desserts'' or 13 desserts which include fruits like apple, clementine, orange, red and green grapes, dried figs, almonds, brioche such as panettone, white and dark nougat or torrone, fougasse (orange blossom and candied fruit flat cake) and one or two other cakes or cookies. My children were saying that I was cheating with all the fruit and nuts but they are part of this delicious tradition. Happy baking!

Thank you for yet another beautiful video! My mama told a story of being a child in Lithuania in the 30s and receiving an orange for Christmas. A never before seen luxury. My mama so prized it that she put it in her clothes drawer, treasured it, until, alas, she found it moldy! Hard for us to comprehend in this day and age of so much, how valued a simple, yet precious fruit, could be. I love your recognition of beauty found in the "simplest" of things.

I’m so excited for your weekly Christmas videos!! I was supposed to visit Tuscany several years back, but I bought myself a house instead. Perhaps someday I’ll make it there; when the world returns to normal and travel is easier and safer. Your pies look delicious and preparing them in a vintage red dress, stunning! You can never go wrong sticking to an elegant, classic fashion. I hope you have another festive occasion to wear to, besides your kitchen, this season. I once attended a party where a now deceased, former US President was in attendance. He was definitely quite a bit older than I. Still, he complimented me calling me beautiful; very innocently (no ulterior motive). Knowing how many people he had met in his lifetime and all of the countries he had traveled to, I could only take it as a very genuine compliment and thanked him, respectfully. I look forward to seeing you decorate your tree, bake gingerbread or show us some of the stunning holiday locations/decorations where you live. I can practically smell your mince pies baking. Thank you for sharing. You’ve no idea how much happiness you’re bringing to people. Merry Christmas to you, Guido & your families. 🎄 🇮🇹

Fruit minced meat pies are such a fabulous gift at Christmas, and your recipe is how my Mother and I first made it. I have not made it in many years. The idea of using a muffin tin is absolutely brilliant. I am inspired. I have friends in my life that appreciate great food and the artistry of adding love and joy into it! Being invited for Christmas Eve supper, it was requested I bring dessert and suggested a fruit pie, thinking maybe cherrie or peach, but this is what I will make for them, for sure! Thank you for the beauty you bring into our lives!

mihaela, food really can 'trigger' our connectedness to our whole selves our past, it is all our whole self..which when revived in some way makes us feel whole, its very spritual thing. So you enjoying the beginning of the day with mince pie perhaps transports your self through gentle taste and smell to remember the place you so much love and yearn to feel again. I desire to visit Italy, Kylie's videos are evocative and nurturing, and inspiring. P.S I grew up in London and grew to love mince pies so much as well as the winter festivities even though I also celebrate my jewish faith. Blessings and Love to you, May you return many times to places you love, As they surely love you equally.❤Lia

Tears flowing like rain. Not sure why. Maybe missing Florence, my parents, aunt and uncle. Maybe it’s the simplicity and elegance that you bring to this holiday that always struck me as fake, even as a kid. My best memories are of my mom cooking all the special Italian dishes that came only once or twice every year and the way the house smelled. I am the youngest by many years so having the table filled with family was such a joy. Maybe it’s because I am in quarantine for 10 days with no taste or smell that I realized how much I take for granted the smell of citrus, spices and pastries baking in the oven. I’m thankful this is my only symptom and I plan to cherish each step of cooking, baking and eating when it returns. To stay in the moment and remember that THESE are the good old days (thank you Carly Simon). And thank YOU Kylie for the inspiration and hope you bring to me and all that watch you share your perspective. I am looking forward to more Christmas videos. ✌🏻♥️

@@sueanne3139 hi Sueanne, I was not trying to be unkind. I was truly offended by her referring to the legendary actor as “really really old”. I’m sorry but Kylie is no spring chicken herself. Kylie makes mistakes too and is not perfect please understand. Isn’t it okay to correct her? Or does she have free reign? This is not the first time she has mocked the elderly in her videos. I think it’s okay to advise her. Don’t worry. She won’t break into pieces. Our Kylie is doing very well for herself.
@AnaBela19903 жыл бұрын
@@easynow7801 :) it did sound a bit odd to me as well, but I took it as a bit of defence mechanism of a dear memory, regardless people’s tendency to not acknowledge value beyond its peak. Maybe Kylie was tempted to feel the same, but what I took from it was the uniqueness of the moment, so I just focused on the wonderful part, as I am sure Kylie did in the end as well. An attempt to support each other in the celebration of such moments, rather the imperfection our ego might stray our thoughts to. In the end, if the compliment didn’t mean that much to her, it meant something to me:))

Oh Kylie this made me feel so festive. This year is the first we're celebrating with my baby son. My mother and sister are coming from overseas and I know you understand just how special that will be. To me Christmas is the beauty of little moments. Walking in the woods near our house, lighting candles in the windows, listening to my mother sing carols. When I was a child on Christmas eve and tucked up in bed she would dress all in white and come into my room singing silent night. To me she was an angel. I plan to do this for my son.

"He was very old by then, so it wasn't much of a compliment" Compliments from senior people don't count?! Given that gentleman's long life and experience with a lot of beautiful women, it seems that would have been a very special compliment indeed!--one you would have tucked away and kept close. Ask any senior and they'll likely tell you that, internally, they feel like the same person they were 50 or more years ago. They're just looking out on the world from an older form. Otherwise, a beautiful video, as always! (Have to say, though, I'm over 60, so I'm hoping, maybe, the comment still bears a little weight.)

@@lgrillo me too 🌷🕊 I would much rather a compliment like that, than from a 20 something yr old with no life experience at all. It is a true compliment. Indigenous communities value their elderly like precious gems, knowing they are the wisdom keepers, beautiful life stories interwoven throughout their DNA, that gives depth and grace, and in general, a younger person does not possess.
@mfr3362 жыл бұрын
I don't think she meant it like that at all. She sounded extremely flattered, and clearly does hold that memory dearly. I felt like she meant that because older people sometimes tend to have more rose tinted judgments, and to be more generous, that maybe she didn't look as great as all that, but that he made her feel wonderful. Of course, we all know she could look amazing in a flour sack, so...

I’m so sorry - I think you’ve misunderstood. Clearly, I was smitten and impressed by this actor at any age, which is why the moment still holds such meaning for me and I recounted the whole story. I’m Australian and in my culture it appears boastful to speak about someone complimenting you so we try to play it down. Also, as someone else astutely wrote in the comments, I’m fully aware that at his age he has known some of the most beautiful women in the world and therefore was not actually coming onto me - just throwing out a casual compliment as an older gentleman who had no intention of taking things further than a smile. Ironically, my mention of his age was to be humble and contextualise things so it didn’t make me sound like I thought I’d made such a great impression on him. 😊

Love Florence at Christmas! Thanks so much for this. Planning on making decorations like you did last year. So lovely. I can smell the mincemeat. Ha!
