Aw! Merry Christmas all! Lol, we lived next door to a house like that a few years ago....it drew quite the crowd! The family that lived there a couple and their elderly parents, did it every year for all the kids in town to come and see!

I miss the yearly trip to see the house in Johnson County, KS that was lit up like that! We moved to GA a couple years ago, and actually don't live too far from Rose from Wholesome Roots. I haven't found a place decorated like that here, but I wouldn't leave here for anything now. This is HOME. Thank you for sharing your Christmas with Jess and Miah. It looks like it was a blast! I wish I could have been a little fly on your shoulder as you got to go through her seed collection! I can't even fathom having that many varieties of seeds. God bless!

That outdoor Christmas lights display is over the top, but Fun!!! :) Looks like you all had a wonderful Christmas, celebrating the Lord's birth :) I am Norwegian as well and made some Norwegian meatballs for Christmas. I got the meatball recipe online, it was ok, but it didn't taste as good as my mother's ( My dear mother passed away last year 2weeks before Christmas). In remembrance of my mother, I wanted to cook & bake everything Norwegian for Christmas this year, but her recipes are all in Norwegian and I can't translate. So, I got them all online. Do you think that "180 Degrees From Average" would share her Norwegian meatball recipe with me? I noticed on the plate she was serving Potato lefsa as well. So glad you were able to spend Christmas with friends, God bless you all, Hugs :)

It's taken me a little while to respond to all of the requests, sorry, but I would love to share my recipe. I love that you are keeping your mother's memory alive through cooking! And, yes, you can't eat meatballs without lefsa :) Enjoy! ~Sarah Grandma's Norwegian Meatballs 3 pounds of ground meat (the original recipe calls for 2 lbs of ground beef and 1 lb of ground pork with instructions to ask the butcher to double grind the meat together) 8-10 soda crackers; finely crushed 2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg 1/2 tsp ground ginger 2 tsp sugar 1 tsp onion powder milk; enough to make a soft, pliable mixture Mix all ingredients together by hand until somewhat pasty. Form into balls of desired size. Fry in a skillet with butter until browned on all sides but not cooked through. Meatballs can be finished in a skillet, in a casserole dish in the oven, or in a crockpot. Add enough water to meet the top of the meatballs. Stovetop: simmer about 3/4 of an hour. Oven: 350 degrees for about 2 hours. Crockpot: on low at least 2 hours. The liquid can then be used to make gravy.
