Today we are reviewing and comparing a new model from Christopher Ward called The Twelve
Inspired by Gerald Genta designs of the 70's it is CW's take on an integrated bracelet sports watch like the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, Patek Phillipe Nautilus, IWC Engineer and others.
Called The Twelve it symbolizes the 12 facets they use for the bezel.
A mix of finishes makes this a true light catcher, and the thickness of under 10mm works perfectly with the integrated bracelet that is a work of art in itself!
This is the steel version that comes in at 9,95mm in thckness and a Sellita SW200, while the Titanium version not only comes with a chronometer certified SW300, but also shaves off another milimeter coming in at just 8,85mm, which is honestly amazing.
This is the first CW that I am actually thinking about keeping and buying it for myself, it is that good!
Tissot PRX is yet another take on the Genta design and is a recreation of a Tissot from the 70's Era.
It captures the design perfectly and if the size was slightly smaller I would definitely add one to the collection!

Was trying on a PRX for the first time last night. I will wait for the 35mm to try on but it may feel too small. Regardless, it has my vote for the price. Very cool looking piece. Thanks.

The Twelve is definitely nicer and finished better, however I just feel that the PRX has a much more cohesive and well balanced design. If the PRX was slightly smaller it would be perfect.

CW12 for the win, here, for me. The reason is the 6 o'clock date to maintain symmetry and the uniquely textured dial (that mimicks the negative space of brand's wordmark). Those differences ARE worth the extra cost, to me. That said, I'm not esp keen on the indices on the 12; I much prefer the simpler indices and hands on the PRX.

Both are awesome, I specially like the titanium the twelve but it's very far away on price from the PRX, although you are still getting good bang for buck at it's price for a full titanium watch

The PR on the CW is really poor for 2023, but everything else about it is way >>> than the Tissot, and I’m a fan of the Tissot and the Powermatic 80. The dial on the CW is better than what AP is putting out, and their new logo makes them much more appealing. But for the price, that movement is a deal breaker for me I think. The Tissot looks really cheap in comparison, but then again it’s half the price. I think for that price, the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium is the ultimate winner. This comparison is a battle of movement vs build/finish.

Prx got some looks like a vintage piece. It may not very well suit on all occassions and may not suit younger people due to its old school look. Twelve looks versatile and modern out of the two

For me, I like Christopher ward when it comes to dive watches. I'd love a C60 trident 300. I think they've nailed the design. I have a PRX powermatic 80 blue dial 40mm in my collection. I love how flexible it is. It can be worn with smart casual attire during the day and a suit in the evening. The dial is beautiful to look at, especially the waffle dial with a sunburst finish. I think the 12 would scream smart casual to me due to the colour of the dial and it's lattice design. I can't see it doing understated elegance like the PRX.

Yeah I think the PRX is quite old fashioned corporate whereas the twelve is far more modern looking but lacks that old school vibe.

The quality comparison is really close… you down play the finishing on the CW bezel. Watches like the Zenith Defy dont even have that level of finishing on the bezel when it comes to brushed and polished contrast and they retail for $7k-$8k. The Tissot has plastic in the movement to keep the price low which tarnishes the movement and makes servicing more comprehensive and expensive. I like the PRX but it’s not close to the CW the twelve at all…

The Tissot wears MUCH larger than it's 40mm case dimensions would suggest. I sold mine for that reason. It's blocky, and the lug length is very long with those fixed endlinks. I have to disagree with the 6.75" wrist as a minimum, which is my wrist size. You need a wrist of at least size 7.25" to pull it off without it looking oversized.
@AdamBA380
@AdamBA380 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I’ve got a 6.75” wrist too, and the moment I tried on the 40mm PRX I immediately said “Nope” and slipped it back off to try on the 35mm. Because the design wears much larger the 35mm works great for me. Bonus that quartz is in keeping with the true heritage of the PRX, and it’s nice having at least one watch I can just pick up and wear. As for the Twelve, I look forward to trying it on. I am also curious to see the planned 36mm version in the future.

Too bad you have no basis for your theory. We'll see what happens in a few years to the PRX. If they start having problems, there will be plenty of youtube videos. Besides that, the quartz PRX kills both of these when it comes to price per value.

The PRX has “brand recognition” and “prestige” due to marketing from the Swiss watch industry. There’s no question The Twelve is finished better in all facets except the power reserve. The PRX is a throw away watch after 4-5 years. Looks okay, but looks like what they’re charging for it. The CW punches up and looks more like watched costing $8-10K more. This really isn’t a debate and KZbinrs should stop trying to make it one.
