Having both watches, I can say the CW feels and looks better on wrist, and is just finished at a higher level. The PRX is still a great watch, however, and I love wearing it! The Tissot is excellent value! My one small gripe about the PRX is that the bracelet seems a bit sharp, and sometimes can irritate my wrist just a little. Both are great watches, but the CW is higher end, as I’d expect for the higher price.
@terrybabb2045 Жыл бұрын
Have owned a PRX and now have the Twelve. There is no comparison between these two on the wrist. The case and bracelet are a huge upgrade. CW finishing also blows away Tissot….and I’m a Tissot fan.
@matthewdavis8199 Жыл бұрын
Same here. I think the taper of the case and bracelet are huge pluses for wearability, and dial texture is so much more fun with light play.

Totally agree, this comparison deserves a dislike.
For me there is no comparison between these two - The Twelve is over double the price and finished superbly. The more interesting comparison would be how well does the CW pit it self against the higher priced integrated watches (zenith, gp, iwc).

Thanks Chris for this comparison. As you know, I am a CW fan but...I don't think I gonna succomb for the Twelve. It is a beautiful watch but I do not think that the fact they double charge it compared to the PRX is justified, especially considering the fact that the steel versions are equipped with a simple Sw200. At this price point. CW offered at least the COSC version of this movement. It is a pass for me for the moment. I will may be change my mind if a 36mm version was to be released next Fall.

very very interesting comparison, thank you for this! so seems like CW is a step up from the PRX in many aspects but it is diminishing returns for the price increase. Ultimately up to the buyer if those increases in quality are worth the jump in price. Personally swaying towards the CW in the glacier blue

I like the exact same one, but it's a lot of money for me and I'm not sure if I can justify the price difference. not double the price in the UK though, the PRX is around £640 and the Twelve is £1050. That said you can probably get the Tissot for less, not sure about discounts from CW as they only sell direct.
@undercovermc10 ай бұрын
@@severnsea did you pull the trigger on either watch? The PRX was high on my list until I discovered the Twelve. £1050 is more than I planned to spend, but I'm looking for one versatile watch, not to build a collection. Therefore I feel like I should get the watch I like most within reason. Also, I think my wrist size makes the 40mm PRX too big and the 35mm PRX too small

@@undercovermc Ni, I haven't yet. I'm a bit busy at the moment so I decided to wait a little longer and take another look at CW, as there are one or two other models that I like, in particular the C63 Sealander. I nearly bought the outgoing Longines Conquest (quartz) a few weeks ago which I spotted for £750 but the polished bezel put me off in the end.

I wear the Pr100 from 6 yrs ago, which has the lowest tear powermatic 80. It always has and still maintains an accuracy of 3s/d. It'll keep ticking through a long weekend (if not worn) which the Sw200 won't. For the price, Christopher Ward should have thrown in the sw300.

One thing to note about the bezel of the Twelve, is that it's brushed, polished and each small scallop is sand blasted, with the transitions being flawless. It epitomises just where your extra money is going with The Twelve. Do I think it's worth double? In my opinion, yes.

I really love CW, but I think they missed the point. The PRX just smacks of that 70's coolness, but somehow CW managed to delete every sense of retro-ness out of the design - despite it in theory at least being very, very similar. Essentially, you can't compare the two directly because one is double the price of the other, but from a design intent perspective, the PRX wins IMHO. If you want a better finished facsimile of the PRX with all of it's charm removed, then get the CW. If you want the OG, get the PRX
@peoplewithpixels Жыл бұрын
Although there's room for improvement the PRX is the one for me. There's a coherence in how it's designed, everything fits together. The CW is a bit all over the place for me, although I can see how some people might like it. Obvious case and bracelet inspiration, monster type hour indicators, square type pattern but let's change it up so it's not obvious, crown guards that don't fit the case IMO and I probably could mention a few other things.

The PRX has really grown on me the more I’ve seen it, but this CW 12 has really caught my eye as an alternative to the PRX Genta 70s integrated style but with a higher finishing - something I’ve always thought the PRX lacked for its massive hype. The big questions: is the CW really worth double the price of the PRX 80? Can CW compete with Tissot in customer service when servicing time comes?
@severnsea Жыл бұрын
I've heard good things about the servicing from CW, and the Twelve is one of the watches I would really like to buy. I'm not a collector and I'm on a budget and wouldn't normally spend more than a couple of hundred quid on a watch, so I can't justify the big price difference. I would like a CW watch though and may go for the C63 Sealander - but I don't want black or white! It's something I don't buy very often so I might just bite the bullet and go for the CW even if it means saving up a while longer. I never thought buying a watch would be such a tough decision and I don't want to buy the wrong one and ultimately not be happy with it.

@@WatchChris with the same "in house" movement that Baume et Mercier uses in some of their models. The comparison might not be all that crazy after all.
@bipennate Жыл бұрын
I think that is the exact comparison that should/could be made: CW had generally been praised for the high value of the twelve, while IWC has been criticized for the perceived overpricing of the ingenieur. It would be very interesting to see what these different price levels gets for you, and if paying 6x the price of the Ti 12 gets you 6x the value (as it looks like in comparison to the prx, CW is arguably delivering at least twice the value with the 12)
@haping1 Жыл бұрын
I'll go for the CW, despite the higher price. The logo on the crown of the CW is horizontal and for the Tissot it is a random position. Is it a coincident, or is that the level of attention CW has for it's watches? The 80 hours of power reserve of the Tissot is great, but the Selita I can service myself.

Yes, the CW has a better bracelet and movement. But the PRX dial looks more refined with a lower profile waffle. The new ice blue color was the icing on the cake along with being half the cost.

The tissot has the better waffle but the hour markers are too thin and Lume is average. The dial looks too big on the CW… would have been perfect a little smaller. Apart from that I like the CW design just a little better… the hour hands, markers, lume, bezel and bracelet are just a step up…. but the white version is a bit too busy with that pattern…. So Better with the darker colours. Still, not sure that it’s worth twice the price, especially since Tissot has the better movement. It’s kinda line ball in the end :)

When you say the Tissot has a better movement, not sure how you figure. The CW offers a COSC certified movement which I would argue is more important than an 80 reserve. Of course, there are other watches that offer both, but the CW certified movement "beats" the Tissot movement in the most important feature, sweeping movement and accuracy.
