The way I see it, PRX is still the way to go for the lower priced quartz option, but the CW makes the Powermatic PRX a tougher sell.

@@waffle911 I mean, for a Twelve on a metal bracelet it's still near as damn double the price of the PRX so there's enough of a gap for both to have their niche. edit - Just realised they've increased the RRP PRX from £565 to 610, although there are still legit sites selling it for the original RRP.

Wow what a pleasant surprise to put a face to such a well known voice! I’ve got the PRX in Ice Blue and do like it, but like others have noted, the finishing obviously exposes the low price tag. The CW 12 is a more refined and better overall watch. In comparison to other integrated bracelet watches with the same fit and finish, the 12 is a very good buy. Understandably, even at $1200+ this is still a stretch for many to consider, and that is ok. The PRX is a good option for those with a budget of under 1K. Let's celebrate the merits of both watches for where they are, and for who they are for because in the end the owners of either watch will be very satisfied with their purchase.

The CW designers merely asked "is it possible?" not "should we?" in regards to the complexity and details of their watch design. The result: a mismatch of different design elements, awkwardness and lack of cohesion. The Tissot on the other hand, while yes it may not have the detail of the CW, is far more aesthetically pleasing and balanced as a design. Sometimes less is more. Hence why the Tissot looks good 50 years later, and the twelve will look outdated in about 10 years.

@Sturnburn772 Tissot has way too much text. They should've kept their old logo [T] at the very top and that's it. Right now it has "Tissot 1800" and then "PRX" in bold italic, god awful ugly font style. Really? Bold italic? Did they let a summer intern design the text in Microsoft Word? Then "POWERMATIC 80" which sounds like the name of a VHS player. Surprised they didn't put "SWISS MADE" in comic sans. There's 4 different font sizes and font styles on the PRX, which looks even more ridiculous on the 35mm when you have so little real-estate. All that text covers like 30% of the dial, it's ridiculously hideous. Might as well put the founder biography in there while they're at it

I've got the gold, quartz prx. I'm not a huge Genta fan but felt I had to have something in this line to add to my collection. It's gold, blingy and a bit like the Vacheron Constantin. I was looking and the Christopher Ward website yesterday and salivating over the CW Twelve. I have the PRX which I love, but the CW Twelve is definitely a step up in design and finishing. It looks like a far more expensive watch than it actually is. I find the twelve-sided bezel very appealing, and the dial design give a much more three-dimensional appearance than the PRX. I also like the fact that they didn't use plastic parts in the movement, my biggest concern with my PRX. I do hope this becomes a permanent model offered by Christopher Ward and not a limited-time offer, as I might be willing at some point to replace the PRX with a Twelve. BTW, has anyone taken a look at their upcoming moon complication watch? Very, very interesting!

Have my The Twelve (ti) on order, and for the price: the look, the styling, the materials, the fact it's a chronometer - it's all worth it. I looked seriously at the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 (the Blue Waffle, closest to The Twelve I ordered), but there is just something off about its dimensions that stopped me. Plus I have other CW watches...and I'm a Brit.

For me the Twelve has a little bit too much going on. There is the base shape, crowngards, then the dodecahedronal bezel. The dial patern is lovely tho, but the markers and hands in grey against wihte? As a whole it really seems to me to be trying a bit too complex for its own good. The PRX on the other hand is very ledgeble, well judged and simple.

I believe CW is a fantastic brand. It makes me feel something in my heart when I browse through their website or see this model here for example. It's a mature brand ( 15 years ? 20 ? ), I hope they'll remain in their price bracket, I think it's a fair one. And the SW 200 is the more traditionnal, easy to service movement. As for the PRX : killer look, especially in 35mm ( auto ), for me at least. I can wear the 40mm CW but the same sized PRX is a no go for my wrist. I would also say in favor of the PRX, that it is more subdued than the CW which, for an everyday sport watch, is easier to...sport.

I hesitated for a month before ordering a titanium Twelve with bracelet and rubber strap. The reason - the realisation that if I got the Twelve I would probably never wear my PRX again as the Twelve is an upmarket replacement for the PRX. I can afford it and I expect it will give me more, in every department, than the PRX but it won't give me anything new over the PRX. I think, buy one or the other, but not both. I won't get the Twelve until November so I'm hoping that I'm being a bit pessimistic...

I considered the 12, but chose the Ice Blue PRX Powermatic, and I can't stop looking at it. It's a stunning watch. The busy dial texture and the logo on the 12 remind me of fashion watches. I did like Christopher Ward. In 2020 on their Christmas sale I purchased green C65 diver. Loved it. Next year on the same sale I purchased C1 Moonglow. The watch broke in one hour. I was upset, sent it back for refund. After that, my C65 movement broke, had to send it for repair, and after about two months I had back it on my wrist. One month later, one of the hour marks on the dial fell off. Couple weeks passed and the fixed watch was back on my wrist. A moth ago, three(!) hour marks fell of the dial... The watch is in repair now and CW says it will take long because they have restructure in their repair department (no wonder). So, for the father's day, I purchased Tissot PRX 80 ice blue. I just bought the gold 40mm Tissot mechanical PRX which looks lovely. Although there is a 35mm version now too. But I prefer the large case; it fits comfortably on my 7.5-inch wrist. The finish details you mention are not noticeable in real life, especially to older eyes like mine where I need reading glasses often to read text and dates on watch dials. The PRX movement is great with its long power reserve and is effectively in-house, though shared across other brands within the Swatch platform. It is much cheaper when you factor in price, even with the non-quartz Tissot. In this sort of budget range, this is significant. If I were paying out much larger sums, a few hundred pounds wouldn't be critical. But if I am looking for a better quality finish, I'd choose say my Omega Aqua Terra which has both a superb in-house movement and better finish.

And now it would be interesting to actually do the rest of the line-up. Maurice Lacroix Aikon, Zenith Defy Skyline, Chopard Alpine Eagle, Girard Perregaux Laureato, Czapek Antarctique, and AP Royal Oak. - The Twelve is the more refined watch when compared to the PRX, no question about it. Yes the Twelve is an homage, so is the PRX. So if one wanted to spend money on any of the homages, then those extra £400 are worth it.

Prx. The perfect cheap rival to the royal oak. As concerns the plastic not exactly, polymeric parts, are more durable than the stainless steel ( don't need rubines and extra lubrication). But the most crucial profit is the antimagnetic characteristic and the lower maintenance cost. As prx rival, as VC fun , i would prefer a Maen.

That nick under the “screw” at 2:19 would absolutely drive me crazy. I would never be able to tell the time because I know my eye would go right there every time I looked at the watch. What a nice surprise to see the face behind a such a well known voice! I'm a happy owner of the PRX and although the loom is... well there is no loom, and the hands are flat, it's a fantastic watch overall. The bracelet is fantastic and the dial has a great depth to it, the 80h power reserve is so, so useful. Can easily go well with any causal as well as more formal cloths. Highly recommend, is the 12, 2x as good for almost 2x the price... I hope to find out one day.

The Duty fees add to the cost of the CW so that's a consideration in the final cost however I have been tempted over the years to buy a CW. The discontinuation of discount codes is discouraging to help offset Import fees to the USA.

I don’t see them as directly comparable, since the price difference is significant. That said, I own 3 CW’s and hope to add the 12 in the future, as well as other models. Value for money is always on offer at CW. As for these two watches, they’re both great, imo, but at different price points.

I would take the PRX!! For me, it's just a matter of design what I like better about the PrX! But how good the quality of these two watches is, only an expert can know. It is enough to know that the watch has sapphire glass and is water resistant to 100 meters and has an automatic movement with an 80 hour power reserve, I am not interested in anything else! Brother, when comparing two watches, the colors of the dial should be as similar as possible

Christopher Ward doesn't make anything that appeals to me at the moment - I came pretty close to getting their Trident 300 last year. It's not the pricing for me, when it comes to the CW. In fact, I think the Titanium The Twelve versions are a good deal at $1,900usd. I like CW also. I just don't love this watch. The quality and standards are there for the money at $1,225usd. It's an opinion - I don't ike the dial texture. I think it looks cheap. Or, maybe just too "try hard." I'm sure people think the PRX dial looks cheap too. ( HOWEVER, I think both Titanium versions of the CW look really sick, though. And, if they limited the dial texture to those 2 models I would've much more appreciated that, personally.) I haven't examined it in person, and I own a PRX, so it's not exactly unbiased opinion. I don't think the The Twelve's bracelet tapers enough, either. That's what might be giving it a better fit on the wrist. Full disclosure - my wrists are like a mortadella so I can wear clocks, as well as gentlemen's timepieces. (I also own a Tudor Royal 41mm; Which is the dopest integrated bracelet watch that no one talks about and it can be had under $2,000usd. And, you can get it in a 38mm and 2 smaller sizes for even less $.) The price point of $1,225usd is still amazing when comparing to integrated bracelet watches from any major brand besides Tissot. Tissot was always going for a humble, honest approach with the PRX, though. I'd rather have an awesome Trident or Sealander from CW and grab a PRX from the grey market for the same money as a steel The Twelve, though.
