Wow what a pleasant surprise to put a face to such a well known voice! I’ve got the PRX in Ice Blue and do like it, but like others have noted, the finishing obviously exposes the low price tag. I have a Bel Canto on order largely thanks to your review. I’ve been a fan of CW and the Bel Canto will be my first one. The 12 looks great.

It is nice that they finally revealed their mugs to us huh? Although it was a stroke of brilliance to keep hidden all this time, it definitely added a degree of mystery that brought non-watch people to the channel. @@waffle911 I mean, for a Twelve on a metal bracelet it's still near as damn double the price of the PRX so there's enough of a gap for both to have their niche. edit - Just realised they've increased the RRP PRX from £565 to 610, although there are still legit sites selling it for the original RRP.

The CW 12 is a more refined and better overall watch. In comparison to other integrated bracelet watches with the same fit and finish, the 12 is a very good buy. Understandably, even at $1200+ this is still a stretch for many to consider, and that is ok. The PRX is a good option for those with a budget of under 1K. Let's celebrate the merits of both watches for where they are, and for who they are for because in the end the owners of either watch will be very satisfied with their purchase.

The CW designers merely asked "is it possible?" not "should we?" in regards to the complexity and details of their watch design. The result: a mismatch of different design elements, awkwardness and lack of cohesion. The Tissot on the other hand, while yes it may not have the detail of the CW, is far more aesthetically pleasing and balanced as a design. Sometimes less is more. Hence why the Tissot looks good 50 years later, and the twelve will look outdated in about 10 years.

I was looking and the Christopher Ward website yesterday and salivating over the CW Twelve. I have the PRX which I love, but the CW Twelve is definitely a step up in design and finishing. It looks like a far more expensive watch than it actually is. I find the twelve-sided bezel very appealing, and the dial design give a much more three-dimensional appearance than the PRX. I also like the fact that they didn't use plastic parts in the movement, my biggest concern with my PRX. I do hope this becomes a permanent model offered by Christopher Ward and not a limited-time offer, as I might be willing at some point to replace the PRX with a Twelve. BTW, has anyone taken a look at their upcoming moon complication watch? Very, very interesting!

I've got the gold, quartz prx. I'm not a huge Genta fan but felt I had to have something in this line to add to my collection. It's gold, blingy and a bit like the Vacheron Constantin. It makes me smile, and nice as the Christopher Ward is, that'll do me. Over a grand kinda takes the fun out of it and though I think it looks great, it's too much of a homage to shell out for .

I’ve also got hype gold pvd quartz PRX. It’s the only gold watch I could find that comes in at an affordable price, has good finishing, and a legit design heritage. Alternatives in gold at the price are Nixon and Michael Kors… no thanks. The bracelet is such a joy, and it’s so comfortable! Plus I actually like that it’s quartz because it’s in line with the history of the design. Bonus that it’s nice to have a watch in my collection that I can just pick up and wear with no fuss!

@patrik3450 hey pal, thanks for askin as I should probably update my feelings. Ultimately the initial hype however after prolonged use there is no comparison. The two watches are in different leagues. Though both have seen water, sea and hot tubs, and performed with confidence the CW is every bit its price tag and probably more. Over two months it only lost a min. The Prx begins to feel cheap in comparison. Both get the same compliments imo and I think its purely a price point. For me the Twelve has a little bit too much going on. There is the base shape, crowngards, then the dodecahedronal bezel. The dial patern is lovely tho, but the markers and hands in grey against wihte? As a whole it really seems to me to be trying a bit too complex for its own good. I believe CW is a fantastic brand. It makes me feel something in my heart when I browse through their website or see this model here for example. It's a mature brand ( 15 years ? 20 ? ), I hope they'll remain in their price bracket, I think it's a fair one. And the SW 200 is the more traditionnal, easy to service movement. As for the PRX : killer look, especially in 35mm ( auto ), for me at least. I can wear the 40mm CW but the same sized PRX is a no go for my wrist. I would also say in favor of the PRX, that it is more subdued than the CW which, for an everyday sport watch, is easier to...sport.

I hesitated for a month before ordering a titanium Twelve with bracelet and rubber strap. The reason - the realisation that if I got the Twelve I would probably never wear my PRX again as the Twelve is an upmarket replacement for the PRX. I can afford it and I expect it will give me more, in every department, than the PRX but it won't give me anything new over the PRX. I think, buy one or the other, but not both. I won't get the Twelve until November so I'm hoping that I'm being a bit pessimistic...

I just bought the gold 40mm Tissot mechanical PRX which looks lovely. Although there is a 35mm version now too. But I prefer the large case; it fits comfortably on my 7.5-inch wrist. The finish details you mention are not noticeable in real life, especially to older eyes like mine where I need reading glasses often to read text and dates on watch dials. The PRX movement is great with its long power reserve and is effectively in-house, though shared across other brands within the Swatch platform. It is much cheaper when you factor in price, even with the non-quartz Tissot. In this sort of budget range, this is significant. If I were paying out much larger sums, a few hundred pounds wouldn't be critical. But if I am looking for a better quality finish, I'd choose say my Omega Aqua Terra which has both a superb in-house movement and better finish.

Both great watches but if I had to choose between the two, I would be going with the PRX. CW's finishing is certainly nicer but it doesn't do it in a way that makes it necessarily more appealing than the PRX. I could certainly understand one jumping to RO or OS after having owned a PRX, but CW just looks like a PRX that tried a bit harder and feels really redundant to have.

prx 35mm coming out next few months, the 12 would fit the same since it’s the same kind of configuration with the bracelet, they’re releasing a 36mm in September.

@@MADLITS1K they won’t fit the same (likely) same size and style doesn’t mean same fit necessarily. The PRX is blocky and leaves a large gap due to its dimensions at the wrist ends (for smaller wrists). Initial reviews of the 12 suggest is has better sizing and contours better.

I have seen people with 6 inch wrists pull it off no problem. It tapers better and is less boxy than the PRX. They are bringing out 36mm later but honestly, that could be too small.

I did like Christopher Ward. In 2020 on their Christmas sale I purchased green C65 diver. Loved it. Next year on the same sale I purchased C1 Moonglow. The watch broke in one hour. I was upset, sent it back for refund. After that, my C65 movement broke, had to send it for repair, and after about two months I had back it on my wrist. One month later, one of the hour marks on the dial fell off. Couple weeks passed and the fixed watch was back on my wrist. A moth ago, three(!) hour marks fell of the dial... The watch is in repair now and CW says it will take long because they have restructure in their repair department (no wonder). So, for the father's day, I purchased Tissot PRX 80 ice blue. Never had Tissot before but love the design. Thinking about CW hour marks felling of the dial... I'm done with this brand.

You mentioned the PRX fit on wrist size, but how bout the CW? Is the fitted bracelet less of a lug extension? Without the option to buy the CW over the counter its a leap of faith that such a fairly expensive watch will be a comfortable fit for most.

Christopher Ward has a lot of problems with their quality control, and not enough team to support the watches they sell. If you receive a watch that works it's great, but a lot arrive not working or with damage and it's a long and difficult process to get it replaced.

If Tissot had put in an ETA 2824 then maybe as i dont care about the 80 hours power reserve as i swich watches daily . Will definitely buy the 12 , it is perfect in titanium. And now it would be interesting to actually do the rest of the line-up. Maurice Lacroix Aikon, Zenith Defy Skyline, Chopard Alpine Eagle, Girard Perregaux Laureato, Czapek Antarctique, and AP Royal Oak. - The Twelve is the more refined watch when compared to the PRX, no question about it. Yes the Twelve is an homage, so is the PRX. So if one wanted to spend money on any of the homages, then those extra £400 are worth it.

The PRX has really grown on me the more I’ve seen it, but this CW 12 has really caught my eye as an alternative to the PRX Genta 70s integrated style but with a higher finishing - something I’ve always thought the PRX lacked for its massive hype. The big questions: is the CW really worth double the price of the PRX 80? Can CW compete with Tissot in customer service when servicing time comes?

CW are quite well known for their customer service. But it is an off-the-shelf movement, so getting it repaired third party is quite a bit easier than the PRX. I have a PRX Powermatic 80 (Green) and a CW 60 Pro 600, and I know they're very different types of watches, but the CW is considerably better quality. I paid 680 for the CW and 480 for the PRX, so with 200 pounds in it, I'd say that the CW is worth a 200-pound increase. But if you can't get a sale on the CW, personally, not really. I do feel as if the PRX is a bit less busy, which is a personal decision. Sign up for the CW newsletter, I just have, and apparently, there are deals that come in regularly too. I do worry that this Genta 70s thing is a little bit trendy right now, but it's been a few years, so I suppose that's a sign it isn't really slowing down, so investing less into it might be preferable. Sidenote: Powermatic 80 movements are usually not serviced, but rather swapped then serviced (hopefully). I was at Goldsmiths just to see how much it would be, as I was interested in knowing, and they quoted about 200+ pounds (which I feel like is a lot considering they can do that super quickly and have the scale to do it cheaper).

I considered the 12, but chose the Ice Blue PRX Powermatic, and I can't stop looking at it. It's a stunning watch. The busy dial texture and the logo on the 12 remind me of fashion watches. Also the more rounded case shape with a much thinner bracelet on the 12 just didn't do it for me. Imo Tissot is much more effortless and captures the Genta aesthetic much better.
