I’m using that Apple Notes/Reminders/Calendar trifecta. There was a framework for Apple Notes that came out called Forever Notes and it essentially uses a launchpad note, tags, and linking to organize. Trying out Darkroom. I was using CapCut but they’re moving a lot of stuff to their Premium, so I’m looking into VLLO for shortform video editing. I’m still looking for a long form video editor. I noticed I get really excited and download new apps…and then don’t use them. I wasn’t using Reader, or Meco, etc.

With such a ton of apps you would need a beefy Ipad, which Ipad and how much storage do you have?
@ChrisLawley

2 TB, but that is because of video editing. Almost nobody needs that, but I am really grateful for the option.

@@ufukpolat4691 I’d say if you are gonna be a very heavy use, the air is more than enough for all of this powered with the M2. Also now available on 13 inch if its a laptop replacment. Of coirse the pro is another league but if budget concerns then the sir does the same with some cuts like inferior screen and speakers.

With how good iPads are nowadays, you can run mostly any app with really any iPad. Of course you will need more RAM if you choose to run multiple apps side-by-side… But, iPads are just that good. With storage, as a video editor and someone who makes media for a living, if you take out video files and media files, I’ve never once used more than 500 gigs of storage and that isan absolute ton of stuff. It’s all based off of the person using it and how you want to use it. But ultimately, you can do a lot with just a little.

Are you planning on looking at Craft again? Tasks allow for start and deadline dates that get added onto their internal calendar. They also have collections which is their notion equivalent database feature. They came out with a major update not that long ago.

I dumped Fantastical when they raised the price. I use Calendar 366 now. It’s $10 for Mac and $5 for iPad and iPhone, and it replaced the ONE feature that I switched to fantastical for originally: natural language input. I hope that Apple Intelligence and Siri improvements make this moot, but since my phone doesn’t have Apple Intelligence features, I’m stuck right now

I’m waiting for this rumored Todoist update. I don’t want to put all my eggs in that basket and then something not work right. But you’re right, plus the Obsidian plugins that work with Todoist are awesome.

@ not sure if calendar is live for those not on the beta track actually. I’ve been using it for awhile but I do have experiments turned on in the settings. So have calendar view set to weekly in the Upcoming filter, then use a kanban style layout for the today view (was heading using the priority flags, but each to their own on that one). Pinned web app seems to be a lot better than the iOS app as well

First user to move from things3 to reminders that’s interesting. What other things made you do this and was that easy? it lacks so many keyboard shortcuts and flexibility and other features. Can you say more on this.

Chris, what are you using for a clipboard manager? I know at one time you were using Paste and that Fredrico uses PastePal. What do you recommend now? Really appreciate your input! Thank you for sharing all of your experience. Loving your new podcast too. I recently upgraded my iPad and have the iPad M4 13 inch pro and loving it. Trying to make it my primary machine but the clipboard manager is my biggest hold back right now. Merry Christmas.

Reminders and Things both have some very frustrating shortcomings. Reminders should absolutely add start date and due date. Also there is zero reason why a shared list from someone else can't be organized into a folder. It's disgusting lol

The one Ipad app I wish I could be using in 2025 is Journal. People who journal tend to also be loquacious with their entries so what better way to make entries than with the Ipad and a keyboard. Can we take bets that we do not see Journal for the Ipad happen at all in 2025? I have Day One in the meantime.

How much money you have been spending on all these apps that you are using? I know that Obsidian is free but many of those native iPad apps need to pay subscriptions, wouldn’t it be a huge list of monthly payments on these apps? Would you create a video on all these apps but saving money?
@ChrisLawley
@ChrisLawley 13 күн бұрын
I use these apps for work. I want to use the best apps for that. Developers have bills to pay just like us, so good apps cost money. There’s no such thing as a good free app that keeps getting updated.
