From looking at the pictures at fishbase and the World Atlas I thought the most noticable difference between the species (apart from size, which is deffinitly wrong at reeflex dot net) is the orange top of the dorsal fin of C. vanderbilti. But the pics on reeflex don't show that. I would guess both pictures at Reeflex of C. vanderbilti and C. nigrura are form the same species ... being ??? I don't know anymore.

I bought these as Chromis vanderbilti, but after your remarks...I'm not sure its named right. Looking at the info at Fishbase...you could be right. But when looking at the pictures in World Atlas of marine Fish (Kuiter & Debelius), it lookes more like C vanderbilti. Do you have any sources for a good determination? I only have one of them left in my tank, and it is'n't in good condition.
