Hi Dr Cooper Enjoy your well done videos Very informative I have two questions If I'm getting pins and needles in middle of back could it be coming from my cervical stenosis? Also how soon after a cervical epidural steroid injection do side effects wind down? And how soon does the steroid work ? Thank you

Thank you for your nice feedback. Pins and needles in the mid back would not be a “classic” symptom of cervical stenosis but it’s possible. Steroids typically take about 2-5 days to start to work and crescendo in their effectiveness over a couple of weeks as the body metabolizes the medicine. Side effects generally last a couple of days but could last a couple of weeks. Of course, these are good general rules of thumb and not direct medical advice. For that you should talk to your doctor. Hi I was just watching your sacroiliac joint video also I forgot to add that my father had ankylosing spondylitis Is it likely a son would inherit that as well ? I know there is a gene test for that

@@davidkays-cx3rj There does seem to be a genetic component to ankylosing spondylitis but the causes are multi factorial and are likely due to multiple genetic and environmental causes. If you are concerned about or interested in genetic testing then talking with a geneticist as well as a rheumatologist would be a good idea.

Chronic lower back pain doesn’t cause ALS. ALS is obviously an extremely serious concern so if you or someone you know has concerns about that then they should talk to their doctor asap.

Can bilateral knee pain cause lumbar strains? Going fora lumbar x-ray today. Can x-ray show lumber strain?

No, an X-ray cannot show a strain. Bilateral knee pain can cause a strain in the lower back if it changes your gait and overall movement and that then leads to a strain.

I am currently experiencing lower left back and butt pain, with occasional pain down the inside left shin. I had a micro discektomy at the l3/l4 level in 2006. But since then the only pain I have been experiencing have been in the left leg. It has not prevent me from working out 5 days a week and I am in great shape. But this current back and butt pain is new. My Doctor ha started me on methyl prednisolone for 6 days. But he refusing to have me take a MRI due to the fact he believe MRI are given just before surgery. Is that your feelings as well?

I am very desperate and I don't know what to do anymore I go to pain management for the last 3 years I've been getting epidural shots I've been to therapy I can't hardly walk both of my legs is numb I get pain that goes in my ankle and I can't hardly put my feet on the floor and I cry a lot because I'm in so much pain I'm in and out of the bathtub I'm losing control of my vows the doctor knows that my insurance rejected the CT scan because she wants to see my upper spine. So she told me I had narrowing of the of the spine that's pushing on my nerve to my back but I know I have nerve damage and now what I'm supposed to do when I can't hardly walk and I'm falling I'm 42 years old and I just give up.. please can you give me any suggestions
