Please also do a video on "carrageenan", derived from a red seaweed, and used in the food industry as a thickener and gelling agent. It causes inflammation, and is used by researchers to create inflammation in lab animals, when they're creating anti-inflammatory drugs. If I recall correctly, it's banned in several European countries, but is used in many food products in the USA.

@@suzannefronzaglio2427 I wonder how many people especially when they get older end up in the ER because of MSG? The older we get the less easily we absorb magnesium and some other nutrients. I have read that low magnesium levels are the number one reason for hospital visits. I was working at a store and a lady came in with a hospital bracelet on and told me she was getting a prescription filled. She had to go to the ER with her heart and was put in the hospital for 5 days….they ran all kinds of tests and on the last day in the morning they ran a test for MAGNESIUM. And that was her problem, she had low magnesium levels. This is how the hospitals can bilk the insurance companies for a hospital stay. They run the test for the most apparent thing on the last day of the stay after running up the bill for every other damn test. So I started buying magnesium and taking it. The night I had the heart arrhythmia I had been eating hot dogs that were supposed to be MSG-free, had them for lunch and dinner.

@@oklahomaisok I remember in the 70's, when I was a kid, my mom used to buy that "Adolph's Meat Tenderizer", it came in a container like the size of a spice jar, with a twist top to pour out or shake. It was pure MSG, if I recall correctly (white crystals). She used it on tough cuts of meat. She then found out a few years later that this MSG is bad for people's health. She had a bout with Lupus about 20 years later in her life, it didn't last long. I currently suffer from fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome. It makes me wonder how long these poisons stay in our bodies.

So many Franken-foods contain MSG because it deceives the tastebuds into thinking that whatever it's sprinkled on tastes good. Have you ever seen Triscuit Crackers? It's a lattice of woven wheat, which by itself is as tasty as the box it comes in but with MSG (and other flavors), they taste amazing. I almost broke down and bought some yesterday at the store but after reading "soybean oil" on the ingredients deck, I promptly placed the box back on the shelf. Honestly, I think Big Agra in League with Big Government are trying to kill us all. Remember, Satan doesn't want to control us; Satan wants us dead.

the msg molecule isn't small enough to pass the blood brain barrier. so it's not a neurotoxin or it would not be for sale. msg is comprised of glutamic acid and sodium, glutamic acid is important for brain function, and muscle growth. what berg says isn't knowledge that he looked into himself and verified, he's just parroting reprobate information that is designed to keep you away from msg so you will need to see a doctor for brain and muscle problems.

Agreed. My guess is that this Dr is a Christian conservative. This is the mindset they are taught. To be fearful of things they know little about and much of it stems back to their own racism which is what this story is really about. I'm a newly diagnosed diabetic and have changed to keto-IF diet of my own volition. But now I'm having to confront my doctor about my drastic change in diet. They want me to take my blood lab work ASAP because they think being in ketosis is DANGEROUS and not recommended. The fact that they think a normal bodily function is DANGEROUS is a major red flag to me, it tells me that the doctor has other interests in mind and not my best interest at all. If being informed means going up against the entire health industry and their mainstream practices, so be it. It is sad really, you have to find the fortitude to go up against the giant wall of doctors in order to gain some semblance of TRUE well-being in the world.

@@kimeli People need to be careful of corn because it is a carbohydrate, and it is a GMO. Most everything we eat is genetically modified, including our domesticated beef and chicken and pork, but that’s because we’ve bred them to be barbecued. Cows are much fatter than deer because we’ve bred them to be fatter, and to tolerate pastures and people. Genetic modification of plants makes them rather dangerous for humans, long term. But the reason I don’t eat corn is because of an allergy.

As an adult I can tolerate it more but it’s still an amazingly unpleasant experience. It is a powerful drug and tbh totally unnecessary. It ALWAYS gets worse after I've had processed foods loaded in it. Growing up, my dad kept MSG out of our diet as much as possible. We use to joke that we had super genes. Because I am not like most, genetically speaking I'm a weirdo. I am a Tetrachromat too. Both eyes. But I was a healthy weirdo!! Soon as more foods came into my diet with MSG, so many problems. Go read the articles final paragraph where it states, “prevalence of pain in Meru, Kenya, and that MSG intake, combined with dehydration, may be contributing to chronic widespread pain in this region.” They took a random 89 people in this region, which is good, but combine the study with dehydration. For people who aren’t dehydrated would the same effects be prevalent?

Finally! Someone who looked at the study! Yes, it is likely that dehydration causes pain and that MSG has no negative effect on pain. The study did not control for many relevant confounders, like high sodium intake, calories, amount of processed foods, water quality, and so on. (It is Kenya. The water might not be great.)

@@DrbergThis video did not really help anyone. The pilot study you referenced did not take into account many factors, among which the possibility that dehydration might have been the cause of the perceived pain by the Kenyans. MSG is safe according to hundreds of studies, but here you are, cherry picking the lowest quality of studies to support for fear mongering for views. You might want to review this study from 1970 where people were given 120g of glutamate for several weeks with no issues. Monosodium Glutamate: Feeding of Large Amounts in Man and Gerbils GAETANO BAZZANO et al 1970 Or the 2019 scientific review by Zanfirescu et al. concluding there are no negative health effects. You might also like to review this study: d-glutamate and Gut Microbiota in Alzheimer’s Disease by Chun-Hung Chang et al 2020 "Pilot studies have reported decreased plasma d-glutamate levels are associated with cognitive impairment in Alzheimer Disease." "Gut microbiota and d-glutamate may be potentially developed as novel intervention for dementia. " It also shows that L-glutamat and D-glutamate occur in many natural foods in large amounts, cheese and fish, especially in fermented foods (like MSG) and are produced by the gut flora as well. I have more studies if you are interested.

Drs could not diagnose her as they couldn't understand what was wrong with her. She died 2 months later and her autopsy revealed that she had got this extremely rare brain disease that at the time 1 in 10,000 children could get. Ive never been able to find answers to why and how this happened to her, but this MSG is 100% linked to it. She was always feeling hungry even after she had eaten a main meal. You should stop eating protein all together. Any high-protein food has high-levels of glutamate. Add salt/sodium and water, and the resulting solution is biochemically indistinguishable from a solution with MSG in it.

Curious to see if the glutamic acid naturally occurring in many many foods (onion, garlic, mushrooms, tomatoes, etc.) have a similar effect? For instance, when cooking a tomato sauce, the longer you cook it the more natural glutamic acid is released, the more flavor it is perceived to have. Does this have the same effect as MSG crystals? Also, MSG is just a sodium molecule bound to a sugar molecule and if you treat it like any sodium source and have it in moderation, you shouldn’t have any issues. After all excess sodium will also cause headaches, migraines, etc.

When you're young you may get away with it, but at least you'll be aware of it in terms of health issues that may present itself later on in the future, you will know what to start cutting more(less carbs/sugar, certain cooking oils,etc..)Because at the moment it seems you have your vitamins/nutrients and metabolism in good shape. That's my opinion.

Getting rid of MSG AND drinking more water. Reminds me of the study where they fed one group of mice meat and injected them with carcinogens (cancer causing substances) the other group of mice ate no meat and also had no carcinogens injected. MSG doesn’t influence brain glutamate levels. It’s just something people use to make you scared enough to buy their “msg free” products. Eating food in general raises glutamate levels in the blood the glutamate doesn’t come from the food though it’s just the body’s reaction to eating.
@BeyondPC

Chemistry is a complex subject but here's an easy analogy. You can breath O2 and live however CO will kill you. The naturally occuring glutamate is not the same as mono sodium glutamate: your body does not produce MSG it produces L-glutamate. Things that are chemically similar can often have vastly different affects. Assuming that since the body makes glutamate and it occurs in nature it must be just fine is really as unscientific as it gets.

Yes, it can cause migraines which can include nausea or even vomiting, and some people still say it’s not bad, but it actually activates the TRESK gene and makes some people sick. It’s very dismissive of people to say it’s not bad and that people just have issues with others cultures etc. when it’s an ingredient that literally can make people sick.
