I couldnt believe it when as a child (6 yrs old in 1980) I kept hearing new music come on the radio and would love every one of them. I was amazed by the complexity, character and uniqueness of each style. I would have a visceral emotional response to every track, they became like friends, and they would strum my heart strings and I felt emotionally soothed and understood, like reassuring confirmation that other people out there are also feeling deeply and it is good to be sensitive and emotionally expressive, something that was otherwise missing from my childhood.

Just randomly started singing this earlier. Haha so funny how stuff just pops into your head. I remember it being a hit when i was a kid.

This is _such_ a goddamn banger it's not even funny! The whole track is utterly inundated in groove and swagger. A true exemplar of 80s pop, a sound so many tried to emulate, but only a select few truly succeded in transcending their fleeting moment on the charts - especially those who _heavily_ emphasised this kind of production/mixing and overall "vibe", as it's those artists who sound the most "dated" now - whereas this classic, despite featuring all the stereotypically "80s" gimmicks, manages to persist through sheer talent and songwriting ability.

I'm old enough to remember this being on the radio in High School.....and it bubbled up to my consciousness today but oddly enough all I could remember is the catchy chorus.....glad I looked it up on KZbin....I don't think I ever caught the official music video on MTV, VH1 or Friday Night Videos.....or if I did I don't remember it.....but I do remember other music videos like Take On Me (A-Ha), Billie Jean (MJ), Sledgehammer (Peter Gabriel), Every Breath You Take (Police), et.al. the really iconic ones of the era.
