Lyrics:
I walk along the city streets you used to walk along with me
And every step I take reminds me of just how we used to be
Well, how can I forget you, girl?
When there is always something there to remind me
Always something there to remind me
As shadows fall, I pass a small cafe where we would dance at night
And I can't help recalling how it felt to kiss and hold you tight
Well, how can I forget you, girl?
When there is always something there to remind me
Always something there to remind me
I was born to love her, and I will never be free
You'll always be a part of me
Oh whoa ooh whoa ooh whoa oh
If you should find you miss the sweet and tender love we used to share
Just go back to the places where we used to go and I'll be there
Well, how can I forget you, girl?
When there is always something there to remind me
Always something there to remind me
I was born to love her, and I will never be free
You'll always be a part of me
'Cause there is always something there to remind me
Always something there to remind me

Yeah, it was great. The mid-to-late 70s dirge pop songs that were popular such as Firefall's "You Are the Women", etc used the most depressing melodies ever. Possibly the most depressing is "Goodbye Girl" from David Gates of Bread. Total suicide music, lol. There must have been tens of thousands of people who killed themselves while listening to those songs and thinking of a lost lover or lost childhood. Almost all of that music had that quality about it. The Little River Band, Al Stewart, Bonnie Tyler ("It's a Heartache"), etc. The only salvation were rock groups like Van Halen, etc. Then the 80s came and smashed all of that depressing crap to pieces thankfully. The early 80s produced the best pop music since the Beatles. Unfortunately it didn't last long, because starting in the mid 80s, Pop became somber and depressing again "Life in a Northern Town," or commercialized corporate songwriter crap such as Heart's "These Dreams," which was absolutely dreadful. But even though it only lasted a few years, the early 80s produced a huge catalogue of excellent pop songs that were incredibly moving without being depressing. Eurythmics, The Human League, Naked Eyes, Tears For Fears, Cyndi Lauper, Journey, The Police, Culture Club, Men At Work, etc etc. Too many to list. The output was amazing.

Few people, if any, knew in 1983 that this song started off in 1963 with Burt Bacharach and Hal David. First recorded as a Demo by Dionne Warwick, Released as a song by Lou Johnson in 1964, Released as a song by Sandie Shaw in 1965, then by Naked Eyes in 1983. Great music comes around again. And some of the greatest sounds come from the 1980's. Thanks Naked Eyes for keeping the tune alive and well for 40 years. May it play happily for eternity.

This song, original version, just popped into my head as I climbed the stairs heading to bed. Could have been years since I tho't of it. How I feel about a woman now, after trying so many times to forget about her. Harsh words mean goodbye to me, but not her. After she says 'ok, then leave, I have many other men better than you begging for my attention', I know she is right, so I block her on chat, but after a day or 2 she finds a way to contact me, usually via a friend,, and asks 'are you happy now'? NO! I can never be free, she will always be a part of me? Part of my insecurity is she is a super star, 4M fans on IG, so beautiful, so young, so far out of my league, but somehow she truly loves me!? Trying not to over react anymore, and just quit doubting...

You travel back in time creating an alternate universe separate from the main universe in which you live the rest of your days in the 80s. Whatever happens in that alternate universe at any point in time cannot affect the main one as they become two entirely different branches so you can stop horrible events like 9/11 but in the main universe that will always be set. Time traveling ain't simple but it would certainly be fun.

British music from the early 80s is the most enjoyable thing to listen to. The vocals are full of feeling, a desperation to live, a hunger for love. Definitely a musical expression that never gets old!
@kamakirinoko

You certainly got THAT right. WHY can't all that-the British Invasion in the 60s and the repeat in the 80s-why can't something like that happen again? Spandau Ballet before they became famous, Tears For Fears, Mike & the Mechanics (Mike Rutherford of Genesis, no less!) even Wham and Aha . . . the list is long. We are all SO DEPRIVED. And it's not just an old fogey reminiscing about a bygone era-I'm a musician who used to be professional, and I can tell when a song has been written and performed by true talent, and that no longer exists. The only thing that exists in Autotune.

When there is always something there to remind me Always something there to remind me I was born to love her, and I will never be free You'll always be a part of me Oh whoa ooh whoa ooh whoa oh If you should find you miss the sweet and tender love we used to share Just go back to the places where we used to go and I'll be there Well, how can I forget you, girl? I did not know what this song was called and I did not know who played it either but now I've finally revealed the name of the song and the band and all thanks to Tiktok. It's probably one of the most underrated 1980s song ever heard of and it's probably one of the rarest songs of all time as well. I always love the 1980s music. It never gets old and it will always be a timeless classic. Along with the 1990s and 2000s, 1980s is one of my favourite decades for music. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪 By the way I love the beginning of the song and it sounds kinda very Christmassy to me.

A angelic voice with sounds that just makes you think about your life and the world. Talk Talk has always been under rated and besides their biggest hits, I think they don't have any bad songs. A little something for each. Also, INXS is also under rated but again each song is TIMELESS. They're my favorite band and you should listen to some of their work. Start with the infamous "Need You Tonight" from "Kick" and then proceeded to finish the rest of the songs on it which is one of their best albums sold lol.

Another classic 60s song. Dionne recorded it first. Works on every level. Great intro and it was a time period of musical exploration, fusing bits of different genres.

Dionne Warwick first in 1963, then Lou Johnson followed by Sandie Shaw in 1964 and finally Naked Eyes in 1983 and I was there for all of them. Every time someone new re-released it I fell in love with it all over again. Just proves a great song is timeless just as Burt will always be...💔 Soundtrack of my youth 🎼 🖤

When you listen to this just remember..it sounds a zillion times better in the Car. I'm always amazed when I hear something like this in the car and I think "well when I last listened to this on KZbin I wasn't as moved as I am now. Oh...it's because I'm in the car" lol. Born in 79 and to the older Xers..YES I remember all the music even though I was really young and you were teens or whatever in the 80s.
