The 1980's was the only time period, other than the mid to late 1960's, where the music is inextricably linked to the youth of its day. The music of both era's was fresh, original and unique, it represented its respective youth counterculture.

This classic 80's song really carried the 70's disco style of Chic just as David Bowie's Let's Dance did and many other New Wave acts in the early 1980s if you really listen to the rythm. And I think that's really cool! Because even though original disco wasn't embraced in the 80's, the truth is a lot of the great 80s music evolved new amazing dance sounds from the original disco styles of the 70s and especially with Chic's style. Nile Rodgers even collaborated with David Bowie in Let's Dance and Duran Duran with Notorious.
