You do know that you can unbolt the motor mounts and raise the engine just enough to pull that out and slide a new one in.... But I do salute for awesome job....

I have the same issue. I am thinking of cutting the small tube and flaring it slightly. Then I will run a silicone hose down the middle of the engine. I know it is hotter than a July picnic down in there so that is why I am considering the blue silicone hose. I don’t know if it will work, but like you I am trying something different, mainly because the metal pipe seems to be out of stock. Thanks for your fix, by the way.

That's a genius fix. You did say the car was old. With the age of the vehicle who cam can complain. You gave that area of your car an additional 40-50 thousand miles on it versus 100,000, with a text book repair. Awesome though. Thanks for sharing. Its innovative and challenging to the brain!

That's a clever solution. I'm engine swapping the same model car and will be doing something similar just for the future ease of working on the car. I'm sort of thinking of running the flex hose under the intake like the original pipe went, making it obviously removeable in the future since it flexes. And yes thats a difficult weld to make based on how old/thin the metal is plus using a MIG. Very easy to get pinholes.

My customer hhas the chrysler 300 with the 2.7 v6 glad to know this for him man. Thanks! You should make an aftermarket part. I can 3d print any model you need or even make a carbon fiber or polycarb one.

Thanks! I'm really surprised they haven't come out with an aftermarket part similar to what I did. Sure makes fixing that coolant leak easy!

Is there a bracket on the back end to make the pipe loose to get the bleeder valve part back on after removal? This bleeder valve job is a pain in the rear!

What is that pipe called?

Any tips on a Chrysler Sebring 2.7ltr heater line rust hole? Can it be tig welded?? I’m told I can just cut it and put in a coupling, but it’s a metal line like this video not a heater rubber hose Any tips on what kind of coupling for a metal heater line to put in there? I feel like if I use a rubber coupling it could cause some type of issue it would that work? Also unsure if big enough to tig weld properly?

I changed this pipe today it was easy. I removed both engine mount bolts theres two on each side. Before I did this I completely removed the intake so that theres room.Then I jacked motor up slowly checking for any wire snag or hose snags. I jacked motor upwards untill there was room to pull pipe out through the front.

That's not easy. At all.

@@davidsmith37709 not much harder than supporting the engine removing a mount to change a serp belt on a gm3100

OK, I have this exact same car, except I have 220,000 miles. But mine is still leaking coolant somewhere. I'm thinking of doing this, but I don't have all these tools. My question is, the rusty pipe that runs between the cylinders, if its cut at both ends, can't you just leave it in there and basically bypass it?
@Tomsfoolery.3 жыл бұрын
Yes. It can stay right there and won’t hurt a thing.

I have a 08 charger 2.7 v6 love my car but yesterday my daughter used my car and turn the heat on and it was fine she said once she came out the store she turn the heat on it worked for a minute then went cold and steam came out and leaked some coolant on the passenger left side what do u think is going on with my car

Will that pipe not come out if the intake plenum and lower intake manifold is removed?
@IamKurr5 жыл бұрын
btw, This engine is horribly designed. I like the routing you used much better. I just found a leak on a customers vehicle coming from the same area AFTER getting it all put back together. ugh
@Tomsfoolery.5 жыл бұрын
The 2.7 had a very rough start. Back in the dealership days we had every color LH vehicle out back with a bad 2.7. They made some improvements over the years but still a bad design in my opinion. To answer your question, no the coolant pipe will not come out by removing the intake. There are ears in the casting of the cylinder heads that prevent this. That's why I just cut it in pieces as I pulled it out. Much easier that way.
@IamKurr5 жыл бұрын
Just saw this, sorry, but you're exactly right. Went back and checked out the 300 I'm working on. I thought it had a leak in that pipe, but just ended up being the bleeder valve when pressure finally built up. Tightened a little more than I like on blenders, but finally sealed off

No need to apoligize for an awesome repair on something that was faulty by design. Your tractor hydralic fitting was easyier to weld because it wasn't rusting from the inside out.

2.7 is garbage. The only fix for a 2.7 is a 3.5.
@jimdahl76988 күн бұрын
2.7 is a great engine. Just keep the oil clean, like every 3000 miles.
