This job is not hard to do if you do it in the right order. I just replaced mine 5 mins ago. Took about 30 mins because I had some issues. So here's the easiest way to do it. Remove the glove box. Put a flash light inside the open area to shine up on the part your replacing. Lay the passenger seat all the way down. Now lay upside down in the passenger seat. This is the only way you'll be able to get to the 2 Phillips head screws. One on the bottom and one on top. But before you remove them or unplug anything turn the key on and make sure you have everything turned off on the air/heat. Mine was turned half way and it made my new part not line up. So make sure its turned to off position or itll give you heck. Now unplug the wire harness going to it. Unscrew the two screws using a stubby Phillips screwdriver. Remover and reinstall.

Thanks so much about the need to turn it off. I couldn't get it to line up but after seeing your note, I was able to line it up. Otherwise, it was a pretty easy job.

I used the same positioning before seeing your comment so I guess great minds think alike. I would add: Make sure you have a good fitting stubby Phillips. Start with the bottom screw since you can actually see it and ensure a snug fit. I did the top screw by sitting in the seat facing the dash. After snapping a couple pictures to see where the top screw was in relation to the elastic glovebox strap mechanism, I reached my right hand inside the glovebox with the stubby and felt around with my fingertips and unscrewed. I got much better leverage and though I couldn’t see a thing, it wasn’t difficult to feel my way through it. Regarding installation, I put the bottom screw in first laying upside down as described earlier. For the top screw I returned to sitting in the seat and felt my way around and again it was pretty easy to finish that way.

Stubby Phillips for sure. I thought it was very difficult to remove. I replaced the Philips screw with a1/4 inch head screw and used a sock it wrench. So much easier to put back on. Took me over an hour to get those damn Philip screws out. I it thought it was a tough job to do. But can be done with some persistent effort.

The cheap aftermarket actuators don't last. The center drive gear gets shredded fast. I was able to repair the factory actuator by replacing the center gear axle with a piece of 5/32" brass rod. After one year the aftermarket actuator was bad again, put my repaired actuator back in and viola, fixed again. Now on to replacing the clogged heater core so the passenger side gets some heat.

Question, my car is a dodge journey 2016, i did the same as you in the beginning, the outside air button was the one causing the clicking, so I also need to replace it. But I see atleast 2 of the modules, so how do I know which is which, and also, would my part be the same one you linked on your description? UPDATE: so I found that there were indeed 3 modules, 2 on the left and 1 on the right. I went to local parts store to buy the correct part. Do you happen to have a video for a 2012 chrysler 300c? Mine is currently having that exact sound when I push the recirculate button or when I shut the car off. The automatic hvac crap in this car is a pain. @NoNonsenseKnowHow
@NoNonsenseKnowHow 4 жыл бұрын
When does it make the clicking noise? If it does it when you turn the temperature knob then it's your temperature blend door actuator. If it does it when you press the recirculation button then it's recirculation door actuator and so on

NoNonsenseKnowHow it’s been going on since December- never realized it was linked to any one in particular just assumed I’d get to it eventually, I have a few days off and came across this video- so thank you in advance, stopping at Advanced Auto tomorrow, these things are only $25. Short answer it seems to only go off when I have the cool air on, not just the fan- so middle knob (2014 200)

NoNonsenseKnowHow after just opening my door, no key in the ignition and all three knobs off the clicking started after about 20 seconds from just the door being open- I’ll take it apart and maybe just change all 3 anyway- $75 diy way better than my local mechanic for $500- I feel like I owe you
