Great video! You may have already figured this out but those tick & tack clicking noises you heard are coming from the rocker arm assemblies... probably both. There is a set pin at the end of each rocker shaft that shears off or wears down causing the shaft to shift back and forth. This causes a misalignment with the lubrication ports to the rockers which causes the noise. I replaced mine with new OEM assemblies and it fixed the problem. Glad to see there are people like us keeping these awesome 2005-2010 300s rolling along!

Watched the video from start to finish. And I don't even own a 300. Your content is thorough and compelling. Great presence on camera and captivating content. All that said,I have been considering purchasing a 300 that has a blown engine.

those trans harness are different in that year for that 4 speed later trans has an additional plug that on some harnesses are not there . on this 2.7-3.5 swap im trying to finish after ordering 3 different sets of head haskets lololol. those harnesses are unique to this year,. we added the additional circuit by dissecting the original 2.7 harness and wiring into 2 splices and adding 3 pins to the computer connector

I FOUND A DONER 300 3.5L for 800 bucks from copart with a 5 speed and changed the oil pan ,,used the 2.7 flywheel on the 3.5 motor for my 4 speed and found an engine harness at a salvage yard an added the additional circuit for the trans. then i used the ac commpressor and ac lines from the 300 on my charger it all bolts up

Great video! I would add clear instructions for timing the chain properly. Top dead center, during the compression stroke of cylinder #1, is very important, then align all the valve sprockets in that position.

Thanks for this video.. I have a 2008 Chrysler 300 with 336,000 and I'm quite worried about the timing belt cuz I don't want the whole engine to be destroyed is there a peephole or a special whole I can check out the timing belt it's a good idea for me to replace all the Pully bearings.. I am second owner I got the car at 90,000

@@GibsonGarage Yes. But this car went 70 k per year on freeway.. was not a a car that was started then driven few miles and shut down.. heat cycles are low. Cold starts imo kill timing belts .

@GibsonGarage5 ай бұрын
I think normally you would expect to pay for pretty much complete tune including timing belt, spark plugs, coils, just for peace of mind on a motor you pulled from a junkyard, but in my case it was relatively cheap since it looked like somebody just did all that. I only paid for coolant and oil I think and some torque converter bolts

I’m thinking of buying a Chrysler 300c as my first car but I’ve been hearing the engine is bad and things like that. Is that true. I’m thinking of buying the 2005 with the v6. Would it be possible to engine swap to a better more reliable engine. Is that even possible?
@GibsonGarage9 ай бұрын
I don't know about the engines typically I would stay away from it because of the year . It's the first year of that car on OBD2A platform. Too many computer issues. In 2006 most cars switched to OBD2B I had to change up everything electrical. So it is likely that the early models have much more issues than the later
