Engine Removal on a Dodge Charger, 3.5L V6. I tried to keep it as step-by-step as possible, everything I did in this video was to show what i was doing, or had done, following alldata requirements for the engine removal process.
There is some profanity in some of the clips, sorry... not sorry.
CAUTION: MECHANICS CAN BE DANGEROUS TO YOUR BODY, PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN REMOVING ENGINE, DRAIN FLUIDS PROPERLY, USE CORRECT TOOLS FOR JOB TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO FASTNERS ETC ETC.

It's called AllData. It's a paid service but absolutly worth the money. I only recommend paying for it if you're working on a huge variety of cars. Other wise I'd suggest finding a local shop and asking them if they can print you out the AllData repair sheets. Some shops might use another program called Mitchell, personally I preferred AllData, as it just looked better to me.

First time engine removal , just wanted to know when pulling out the engine do I worry about the torque converter being attached or do I take it off prior to pulling the motor ??

Best is when you remove the plate under the car take out the four nuts that is going through the flywheel and the motor coms out easier

Im doing an engine swap on the same motor now. I pulled out the engine with the torque converter attached(tough!). After speaking with a master mechanic he explain that in the end i would not have a choice since the engine I was removing was locked. Advice was free too!

im going for this, but changing the engine, so why not unbolt the torque converter before remove the engine its more easy, i did it with dodge neon, but dont know about charger

is it possible to bolt converter on wrong? is there an offset in the torque converter bolts so not to allow it to be bolted on wrong? that crankshaft sensor on the trans is why im asking.

How did you rig chain to lift engine? Is there any lifting points?

Off the top of my head I don't quite remember, I can say though from the looks of it, I found bolt holes on the engine block itself. I just used the original hardware that was already on the engine. When fitting the chain I usually keep the bolts loose until I get the right placement then I tighten them up and hook it up to the hoist.

I did not as this was years back, but that's okay, I can see how and why that could've been damaged and thanks for the input. I'll make sure if I ever do that again to consider that.

what's the difference between 2006 3.5L and 2008 3.5L ? I have a 08 with bad engine buy when I do search only 08-10 engines come up. 2006 looks exactly the same . what has to be changed / transferred from 06 engine to work for 2008 ??

I got a bad 08 3.5l and looking I'm at an 07 for a replacement. The engine looks the same to me except the intake. Seems like the 08 has a block off plate on the left side of the intake (looking at it from front) where the 07 has some electric valve or such. How did you make out? What year engine did ya use and any issues?

yes, you do. i just did removal and putting a new engine in my husbands car. we just used the jack with a small piece of wood

For those that don't know cant remove the torque converter when you cant rotate the engine when its locked up. Why they didn't remove it in this case is because they don't know what there doing. Sorry but it's true. It's a 2.0 hour job max to remove.

It's faster the way Garden Style did it I just did one and I had to pull the trans with the engine so I took the whole front off and btw if you're doing the trans you need a 3/8 drive t60 for the driveshaft bolts they suck especially no lift Appreciate the video

my son blow his 2.7 up so we got a 3.5 engin with a 5 speed tranmission the 5 speed got 2 wires the 4 speed got 4 how to hook the 5 speed to the 2.7 wireing harness

DUHHH, YOU FIND THAT STUFF OUT BEFORE YOU GO OUT AND BUY A DIFFERENT ENGINE !!! YOU ALSO, CHECK YOU STATE REQUIREMENTS BEFORE EVER STARTING SUCH A PROJECT. IN CALIFORNIA, YOU WOULD NEED ALL THE SAME EQUIPMENT FOR THE 3.5 ENGINE, THAT CAME IN THE CARS THAT CAME FROM THE FACTORY, IN INCLUDING THE CAT. WHEN DONE, YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE STATE INSPECTION CENTER, TO GET IT APPROVED TO BE LICENSED TO DRIVE IN CALIFORNIA. GOOD LUCK.

of course lots of work better off to have the NAG1 transmission vs the 4 speed. remember those early year 5.7l engines have a valve seat defect.
