@@00loudog I was a cadet at Castle Heights M.A. in Lebanon. Spent very little time in Nashville. WLAC AM was before FM, and sported 50,000 watts power clear channel and could be heard as far south as Montgomery, Alabama. There were two Blues programs on in sequence. Randy's Record Parade and Ernie's Record Mart. The DJ on Ernie's was a gravel-voiced guy named John Richburg. Both sold mail order 78rpm Blues records It was a wonderful time to be alive.

A friend of mine, Craig Eastman and myself went to see Muddy Waters at the original Antone's in Austin Texas around 1975 or 1976 , during intermission a guy goes on stage and invites everyone to his house for a party to honor Muddy Waters and celebrate his birthday, well after the show we drive over to East Austin and park down the street, we sat there asking ourselves if we should go in , finally we knock on the door and when they open it no one was there, but we could see a huge spread of BBQ , ribs , brisket, ham , white bread, potato salad, and corn on the cob, it was $5.00 for all you could eat, we got a big plate and sat down at the table, and these people were probably in their 60s and they were so kind to us, they made these two college students feel like kings , anyway we are stuffing ourselves when in comes Muddy Waters and his band, it seems that he was cousins to the homeowner, then 10 or 15 minutes later in comes Paul Ray and The Cobras with Stevie Ray Vaughan and Denny Freeman, man it was a great night, we just sat and listened to the musicians tell stories , Austin was great back in the 1960s and 1970s

Muddy was a men. Keith Richards told a story in his autobiography "Life", when he was in the Chess Records' headquarters in Chicago, he saw a guy painting ceiling. White paint dripped onto his face, but the guy didn't give up. It took Keith a few moments to realize the guy was Muddy Waters xD The Chess Brothers had a company policy that no matter what happens, you have to work. Muddy's music wasn't selling well at the time, so he helped with the renovation work.
