Happy Mother's Day and Goku day! Hope you guys enjoy :) Size obviously means you're more powerful, that's why Oozaru Goku is superior to Super Saiyan Goku. It doesn't matter how much stronger or faster you are if you are huge big monster that very big, silly me, right? No, but forreal, some of you think that size means everything in a battle. You have to account for overall power, durability, speed, and stamina. It's like thinking that the Colossal Titan would slap Saitama, Superman, or Goku just because he is much, much larger than they are. Regarding Showa King Ghidorah. One of the guides says he wiped out the Venusian civilization (instantly/in seconds) and the 2014 Godzilla Game says he laid waste to the planet in mere days. Even if we said it took him 3 days, he would be capable of wiping out an area of 100,000 square kilometers every minute assuming he did it non-stop, which is still enough to wipe out small to medium-sized countries. That's prior to the powerups he obtained as the Showa series continued and Godzilla became stronger than him until the future battle depicted in Destroy All Monsters.

That missile has been calced to planetary-star level, and Ghidorah is directly stated to scale above it and as the most powerful weapon the aliens have. I would argue Legendary Godzilla wins, for a few reasons. The first is that I don't think it's very accurate to scale Showa Godzilla to his Ghidorah in general. Not that there isn't SOME stuff you can scale, like durability from each other's attacks, but like directly scaling Ghidorah's energy output to Godzilla. The main reason being that Ghidorah is almost never defeated alone, more specifically Godzilla never defeats Ghidorah alone. He has as few as a single ally (Who often scale closely to himself at the least) and to finally kill him required half a dozen actively attacking him. Like it could be argued Ghidorah is by far the strongest monster in his era and Godzilla a tier below, while scaling Legendary to his Ghidorah makes more sense since they are shown to be almost equal, with Godzilla at times having an advantage and Ghidorah at other times. I don't consider it a downplay when it's just shown outright that Ghidorah is just a different weight class in the Showa era, but if you want to then by all means. I also think scaling to Zone Fighter is a bit off in terms of AP and durability since some of his monsters can be killed by the military in some way. I also don't believe it's downplay to use the Vs The Sea Monster ending. It's a literal narrative moment that Godzilla was in outright danger of being badly hurt or killed by an island exploding. And I don't consider it the same as downplaying the MV Godzilla by using the stats given in promotional material, since not only is that stuff inconsistent, but I probably like you consider on screen narrative feats over data from second hand material. Mind you that they state the bomb in 1954 was measured in Kilotons, when it was canonically Castle Bravo and definitely not kilotons. And if the reason for the island thing is due to it originally being a Kong movie, and the island explosion would have killed Kong... Kong beat Godzilla, or was at least basically equal. Also in durability, his breath was shown on screen to be equal to MG's in their beam clash, and those beams could make him bleed. I would also say Legendary has a stronger, and further ranged, breath, as it was able to reach thousands of miles through solid rock, and even just taking the hollow earth feat would have been dozens to hundreds of megatons, which still left him with plenty of power to fight Kong and MG. Showa Godzilla's breath couldn't badly hurt Rodan, Gigan, or Ghidorah, and Rodan was (Or at least one of its relatives which this one is smaller than) was killed by a volcano, and Gigan was hurt by MASER guns which aren't entirely weak but definitely not close to any of the above beam weapons. While it can be chalked up to inconsistency, the difference is that Legendary's inconsistency is based on him growing stronger, while Showa seems all over the place but in general, nothing we see places it above MV. If legendary's breath is stronger, then several seconds to minutes of being blasted by a breath stronger than the breath that could make him bleed would absolutely overwhelm him. I think ton for ton Showa is stronger, but he is facing an enemy that not only outweighs him five times over, but who himself lifts and throws around heavier monsters than himself. So the relative advantage is literally outweighed by sheer physical presence and force. It is akin to a high midweight to an average heavyweight, both with equal combat experience. I also consider their stamina to be even, as Legendary almost never stops to rest and is constantly swimming, and he goes from one fight that lasts several hours with the Male MUTO to the San Francisco fight which lasts from sundown to several hours into the night, while Showa's fights are shorter but he pushes through fighting with way more damage. I do agree Showa is faster and has better reaction feats, but only for things he's directly facing. While Legendary is shown able to bat away multiple supersonic targets without looking at them and while facing another enemy. Even so, Showa is faster, but I do not think having one stat better when faced with overwhelming advantages in almost every other category matters. I'm not trying to downplay Showa, in fact I also don't think scaling Legendary Godzilla to Ghidorah is the best since he needed several recharges and assistance and Ghidorah only needed one and no help 1v1. Legendary wins 8/10 difficulty, it'd basically be as hard for him as his fight with Kong but trade out the axe with atomic breath. Long comment I know but I wanted my point shared. I liked the video either way, good work even if I disagree.

Thanks for liking the video. I like that you know your stuff. The reason I scaled Godzilla to Showa Ghidorah is because he eventually surpassed him in power (until he arrives in the future in Destroy All Monsters). Godzilla was able to help defeat late series kaiju that gave Zone Fighter more difficulty than Ghidorah (who he fought early in the series). Mechagodzilla I, even prior to his upgrade, was stated as being stronger than the early King Ghidorah in a guidebook as well. For the weapons being able to damage kaiju, it just means the human weaponry got better and better as time went on. The monsterverse military also got upgrades along the way. For strength, yes, Monsterverse Godzilla has superior lifting power, but as I showcased, Showa Godzilla was still able to overwhelm and throw hands with monsters who weigh up to almost 5 times more than him. Combine that with the multiplier upgrades and it would close the gap dramatically.

Great video, absolutely loved it! It really made me respect Showa Godzilla's strength alot more :>. That being said, I do disagree with the overall conclusion for a few reasons. 1: Alot of the information and feats for the various Kaiju in the Showa era are usually contained in rare Japanese magazines that people are rather unlikely to see, so I personally don't really take those into account, especially since some of the stats given by them can fluctuate quite abit (Case in point, Heisei King Ghidorah's and Mecha Ghidorah's weight). Besides, if we really wanna go off feats from magazines, then you might as well mention the novels of Godzilla KoTM where it states that Godzilla's nuclear pulse in the final battle was similar to that of a star exploding or the GvK novel where it states that the Godzilla species gained the ability to fire their atomic breaths by eating stars (I know it's not meant to be taken literally, I'm just showcasing a point here). 2: While Showa Godzilla is indeed quite speedy and skilled in combat, especially with the amount of movies he's been in compared to Legendary Godzilla, I feel that we shouldn't sleep on Legend Goji as numerous times in GvK, we see the Big G reacting to planes as they flew by (not sure how fast though) and being able to swat them out of the air. Granted, Showa Goji has been shown doing the same thing but I feel like it would still help Legend Goji abit in their fight. While in GvK, we see the Big G being able to go head to head with Kong in a physical fight, a Kong who has been through numerous battles on Skull Island and is already pretty used to fighting and being able to just, judo throw him off of his back to get out of the giant ape's headlock, despite said ape's arms being a lot more bigger, muscular and longer-reaching. 3: While Zone Fighter is in fact canon to the Showa Godzilla universe... I usually don't take the feats shown in said shown really seriously, since Tokusatsu shows have a tendency of being rather inconsistent in power levels (You'd know once you've watched enough Ultraman and Kamen Rider) though I do think the feat of Ghidorah dimming the sun is solid enough to be an actual feat for him Whew, that was probably the most I've ever typed into a YT comment. Once again, gotta say that I loved the video and hope that you continue to make more Godzilla videos, as it always warms my heart to see more and more people talking about the Big G himself :)

Thank you for liking the video. The reason I brought up the magazines & guidebooks is because they are useful for determining stats that aren't brought up in the films. I like to have as much information as possible when I analyze characters since just going off of the movies alone doesn't provide the whole picture. Regarding Burning Godzilla being compared to a supernova, it's obviously a metaphor/hyperbole. If he released that much energy the Earth and the majority of the solar system would have been gone.

I was hoping for this match up, y'all were sleeping on it in the poll. Thanks Chuck. My thoughts, I think legendary could do some real damage if he got a hold of showa. Sure Showa goji is faster and more skilled but I don't see him having the strength to grapple or get out of bites if he gets caught. He might just have to get ragdolled and slammed and get back up if he gets caught. But considering how tough, fast, and skilled he is, I have no problem giving this to the OG.

Unlike basically ANY other Godzilla, Showa Godzilla just keeps on trucking through shit that would incapacitate just about anything else, and usually does so while showing minimal signs of exhaustion, if anything, he seems to be at his weakest early in a battle and then gets better as the battle goes on. A perfect example of this is Godzilla vs Hedorah. The second encounter between the two was in the daylight (when Hedorah is the weakest) and Hedorah quickly overpowered Godzilla be catching him offguard with sulfur dioxide and choking him within maybe two minutes. The third encounter was in the night against a much more advanced 4th form that could also swap to 3rd for as needed. Godzilla dealt with lasers that blasted his scales off, partial blindness, and acid that went down the bone over his entire hand and upper arm. At one point he was even buried/drowned alive in Toxic sludge. Yet despite all of this punishment he showed up, blasted a Superconductor numerous times to evaporate Hedorah, then did his flying trick over what was likely supposed to be a few miles, then did the same flying trick while carrying a newborn Hedorah that was of comparable size, and then blasted the superconductor all over again. The film has pretty consistent lighting and the fight plainly starts in the early onset of night, and by the battle's end the sun is over the horizon. And at the end, Godzilla just parades off like nothing really happened, no exhuastion, nothing. This entire third and final fight was with numerous punches and grapples thrown along with lots of beams, against an opponent that was nearly 50% taller then Showa Godzilla. IN a similar comparison, in Gidrah: The Three Headed Dragon, Godzilla and Rodan spend **DAYS** tussling with each other across dozens of miles before the two of them team up with Mothra to combat Ghidorah, and Godzilla does most of the heavy lifting that leads to driving Ghidorah off. If Legendary doesn't mop the floor with Showa Godzilla in the first few minutes, Showa will just keep coming back, keep trucking along, and Legendary, who is shown to be very prone to exhaustion, will be collapsing while Showa is peaking.

Late but the thing is that nobody ever looks into mv’s stats and just assumes he is weak because he is new like he went 5 years with 0 breaks fixing Ghidorah’s mess and then shot a atomic breath down to hollow then easily beat kong then fought mg21 also he was able to go 5 rounds with muto prime and went through the tectonic plates just to finish the fight and he was about to kill prime but then he found a nuclear reactor so he got the upper hand

Considering all the logic defying shit Showa can do (flying just by using his atomic breath, Dropkicking via his tail, etc) I believe Showa Godzilla can win. Although are we assuming Showa is scaled to MV’s height or what? Cause if we are scaling to height, then Showa can flatten MV even faster. I think you’re overlooking the size advantage MV Godzilla has. Showa Godzilla, at his tallest, was 262 ft but was roughly 164 ft in most of the era’s films. MV Godzilla, by comparison, is 394 ft in GvK, which is more than twice Showa’s typical height. Now compare length. Showa was around 345 ft from head to tail tip, whereas MV is 582 ft. Not quite double the length, but we do know he has one of the longest tails of the Gojis whereas Showa’s is a bit stubbier by comparison (as far as tail:body ratio goes, I mean). Showa is also a lightweight, only about a fifth of MV’s current weight. What I’m getting at is that while Showa is fast and strong for his size, he would still have to deal with something that’s basically twice his overall size and a sh*t-ton more durable. MV also has longer reach overall, between both his limbs and tail, and the range of his atomic breath. The other thing to keep in mind is that MV is a thinker in battle, capable of planning ambushes, feints, and new strategies on the fly. Showa’s not stupid by any means, but it doesn’t seem like he’s as much into on-the-fly strategizing as MV. Both of them are more than capable of reacting to whatever their opponents are doing, but MV seems to grasp situations and change tactics on demand faster. All in all, I think Showa would put up a good fight, but MV would eventually curb-stomp him. This is the equivalent of a lightweight boxer versus a heavyweight: Showa can throw punches and maneuver quick, but MV’s hits pack more power. Also, MV CAN shoot his atomic breath in quick succession-we saw that in GvK, during the battle in Hong Kong as well as during G14, against one of the MUTOs.
