The Chum Kiu form takes the movements learnt in Siu Nim Tao (first form) and incorporates them with pivoting, stepping, and kicking so you can learn to use your entire body as one unit while, with some of the sections, moving into your opponents range.
In the Chu Shong Ting lineage of Wing Chun we do the forms with an emphasis on relaxation, internal structure, opening joints etc.

Yes I did 🙂 I regularly traveled to Hong Kong to train with my Sugung Chu Shong Tin. After his passing I continued to travel there to train with many other Sifu's including my Sisuk Ma Kee Fai. The art is very important to me and I love nothing more then passing it on to others. Especially when they realise how amazing it is!

@@dragontaokungfu Wonderful. Thank you. CST is a very important lineage in my view as it openly focuses on the internal nature of the art. Keep these things alive. Wing Chun is the way of wisdom. The wise seek depth, not surface. Energy over movement; focus over force. Everything needed is inward. I'm glad you have been blessed to have such great teachers. Take care.

I thought he was doing siu nim ttau. Not only from the energy he uses, but the punches he uses near the beginning is not chum kiu.

The way we perform Chum Kiu in our lineage (Chu Shong Tin) is an extension of our Siu Nim Tao state (as we are expanding on our internals) and learning how to control our body as a single unit while adding additional movement and multi-vectors. This may be different to other lineages, so I understand your comment 😎👍 Therefore the punches at the start of our forms are the same, which may be different to what you do (and that is perfectly understandable).

I've never had a chance to train directly under Chu Shong Tin. However I've tried my best to develop what Master Chu had taught.
