I think its worth mentioning that after medium spinning bird kick you actually don't have to spend meter at all to get good oki, you can just dash and then walk up and get a legit meaty throw meterless if you learn the timing which isn't too hard imo. There isn't a single character who can backwalk it even if they back tech.

As a Chun Main I'm afraid too, that for some dumb reason they nerf her, she doesnt have anything that warrants a nerf. She is the perfect character in my opinión, she isnt too stronk like the top 5 that everyone would Say I'm getting carried and would bore me to play as, but she also isnt so weak that I Will feel every Match is an uphill battle. She is perfectly balanced and is what all the characters should strive to be. A fun, strong (but not OP) rewarding character. If capcom takes any of that away, I'm jumping ship into another fun, strong not OP rewarding character, is that simple. But for now, Chun is the perfect character for me.

To me she is the most fair/balanced character out of the good ones. She doesn't have anything as good as every top tier have. Like, you have to play solid with her.

@@CJ-wh7ik I love her stance. More options. Most importantly, in a few years I think we'll see the importance of going into stance then right back out again. I don't see nearly enough Chuns online using stance for corner mix ups. I only see it used in combos. You can do some deceptive stuff
@StepanCaveman Жыл бұрын
Chun player here. I'd recommend to spend a bit of meter in your BNBs. OD SBK is invaluable, when the combo ends in the corner (OD SBK, LK legs, HK kicks - for damage, or OD SBK, 2x stomp, j.HP-HP for a safe jump (or a super)). And in neutral you can keep the oki, while gaining extra damage with OD SBK into LK SBK.

I main Chun on Plat4, and I LOVE PLAYING HER. To me Chun’s buttons are god like. The character is good and consistent. Threatening neutral, Tons of options to deal with everything, god buttons, downright lowkey broken move properties. The only thing i feel which is her biggest weakness is that her heavy and medium buttons are downright TRASH against Drive impact. Bad hitstops, so if opponent spam drive impact forget about ur heavy buttons, condition them first, 9 out of 10 times I can’t react to DI but when i change to other character I CAN REACT FOR SOME REASON . But rather than that SUPER SOLID STRONG ASS CHARACTER.
@TruthAndReconciliation Жыл бұрын
I don’t play chun, but are you sure the moves you’re using are cancelable into drive impact in the first place? You can always get caught by a DI if you’re throwing out slow uncancellable moves
@ghostblade1042 Жыл бұрын
@@TruthAndReconciliation the heavies one are uncancelable except 2hp which is also tight af. They can be cancel into stance but will still lose to DI. Medium buttons hitstops are just hot trash. You don’t feel like it slow DI down even a frame so it’s unreactable. When other character get so much hitstop you could run to supermarket and back to press DI in time. It’s just weakness of the character, she is not bad. In fact she is really solid character, got everything, goddess of neutral, swiss army knife arsenal. That’s why i love playing her. @alexanderdenison2950 Жыл бұрын
@@ahnixcreations Dude I play JP as a secondary and everytime I throw loop somebody with him I just get mad that chun doesn't have one lmao, to make things worse JP's throw is plus 24 which means its plus enough to do a meaty command grab or DI in the corner to beat delay tech while also covering other options (like Di covering jump/ certain reversals, both options beat mashing) meanwhile we can't even drive rush and meaty with a light without trading with chun at our measly +11 😭
@ahnixcreations Жыл бұрын
@@alexanderdenison2950even if it was +12 instead it would be a big difference bc then she could at least get DR 2LK which gives tick throw or frame trap, but just being able to get a meaty 2HP or a 2MK feels so bad Edit: I do want to mention, if your opponent knows to mash 4F against your drive rush, 5LP has enough hitstun that you can trade combo
@alexanderdenison2950 Жыл бұрын
@ahnixcreations exactly! I think it's kinda crazy that even if she spends the meter she doesn't get a guaranteed situation there. Meanwhile some characters like luke can drive rush after their throw and get another strike throw situation midscreen on top of having a legit throw loop in the corner.

Chun is actually really easy to pick up, because sticking to basics and playing with fundamentals and short combos you won't flub or drop is actually HEAVILY rewarded by her kit and frame data. You can deal with everything with her, because she has answers to pretty much everything, so she's really a sword: easy to learn, crazy to master.

@@lukeblaker8009I'd say jp's zoning and some bnb combos are easy, but his max damage and neutral are very hard. Most of the time you can break down the average JP player by just playing the midrange where he can't fireball or hit you with his st hp.

I've been trying that but compared to yours, where I dont even see the serenity pose animation, I have the animation come when I can do the kick. Was I too slow? Chun looks fancy, but she actually mostly isn't. She is a fundamentals character, who wants you to be in a hurry. Bait her specials and the big buttons she wants to hit you with. Rush her down, but be careful and watch while you do it. She breaks easy under pressure, even better since you can bait dp. Also, something I've used against others and has been used against me: fireball war can be won via DI. Get her to throw a medium or heavy one, you can hit her with DI through it. I'm playing at plat 1 with Chun right now, and the only Marisa players I'm having issues with are the ones who are careful.

s. MK is very good you just have to be ready and I don’t think you get much off of it. Up kicks is great too but the down down motion kinda sucks and while isn’t impossible to do on reaction to a jump it’s very tough. Also if they’re too predictable with jumps she has an air throw.

Once you get the hang of it then start practicing simple bread and butters off your other buttons. I’m plat 3 with cammy now, I didn’t start implementing drive rush and more intricate combos until I was about 30 hours in lol.
