I absolutely LOVE the fact that this song is inspired by the concept of Final Girl in horror movies (within the Slasher genere for the most part) and their strength for outsmarting and outrunning the killer, combined with what it's like to navigate society as a woman in the every day life. Sidney Prescott, Laurie Strode, Ellen Ripley, Sally Hardesty, Clarice Starling, Nancy Thompson, Sarah Connor, Grace Le Domas etc etc are so heavily channeled in these sounds. Thanks, Chvrches!!!!

I was stuck on their first album for basically the past decade. I basically ignored everything else they did because I couldn't get over how good the first album was. I've recently been going back through their discography and their last two releases were honestly really good, but this one is amazing. I'd say it's basically on par with their debut which is saying something! Their debut is one of my favorite albums of all time and I think it will always be my favorite of theirs because it holds a special place in my heart, but honestly this album is so fire and they knocked it out of the park. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@patrickfitzgerald9589Ай бұрын
The first album of theirs that I heard was the second one, which has one of the best one-two opening punches for an album I've ever heard. The third album was good, but it's taken a while for some songs to really mature in my mind. *Violent Delights* really brought me back to them big time. And then, I finally got back to the first one... And it's a good thing I heard them in that order, because the 2nd album would have disappointed me otherwise. The debut really monopolized my listening time for months!
@truejohnsoloАй бұрын
@@patrickfitzgerald9589 Yeah! You totally get what I mean. I'm glad I got into them when the debut was all they had, but I was stuck on it for a long time because it's so good. Swallowing the seeds of sins we sewed into the ground Keeping secrets until everything became a bit too loud I could wash it down I could drown it out By filling up the silence with an organ sound And by writing sentences I used to think were quite profound And it feels like the weight is too much to carry I should quit, maybe go get married Only time will tell And I wonder if I should’ve changed my accent Tried to make myself more attractive Only time will tell In the final cut In the final scene There’s a final girl And you know that she should be screaming Telling all the tales took time that I just do not have Sifting further through the wreckage, I think you just have to laugh Try to take it back As it turns to black Don’t want to find your daughter in a body bag So I need to get out now while most of me is still intact And it feels like the weight is too much to carry I should quit, maybe go get married Only time will tell And I wonder if I should’ve changed my accent Tried to make myself more attractive Only time will tell In the final cut In the final scene There’s a final girl Does she look like me? In the final cut In the final scene There’s a final girl And you know that she should be screaming now
