It was very apparent to me. My mother pointed it out (she LOVED Mama Cass and the Mama and Papas) but if you see or read Cass in-depth interviews, you would know it. And that voice…MY GOD COULD SHE SING! I am going to preorder the book of her daughters right now and will be looking into Richard Campbell book as well.

I grew up thinking Mama Cass died from choking on a ham sandwich, so thank you for putting that fake story to rest. Good luck to her daughter with her new book. I hope it's out on audio, as I love listening to stories when doing hum drum stuff in the kitchen. What a fantastic artistic career you and your mum have had. Thanks for sharing. 😊 Godbless🙏. I'm your age Chynna, and the music of TM&TP, Cass Elliot, speaks to me of my childhood. I went on a Cass Elliot binge not long ago and all I could think was WHAT A VOICE. Her sound was so rare, powerful, the kind of music a listener feels in their own lungs, body while hearing (I can't think how else to describe it). I will buy this book. Loved to see your beautiful mama, find her moxie inspiring (typical Michelle Phillips dead-panning re: the 'yeah sometimes it is too late', lolol, that's that no-nonsense moxie right there). The loss of Cass so early in her career is a tragedy that deserves rememberance on a historical scale. Really, her career was so brief, and yet her influence is so lasting. Really, the message of her music is one that resonates so much with what the world is craving today; the hope that everything will be okay. She was a martyr for an honorable cause. She wanted to make the world better for Owen, as she mentioned in interviews, but consequently made it a better place for all of us. The title "Mama," is beyond her affilation with the Mamas and the Papas, and really fits the maternal role she filled in every song she sang.

Donna just turned 83 on December 11, and it’s amazing how good she looks. Of course, no sane person would except an 83 year old not to have wrinkles and sagging, and she does, but nowhere near what most women her age have. Even if she’s had some type of cosmetic surgery it wouldn’t hold up that well at 83 anyhow. She’s obviously lived a very healthy life, for a very long time. She living proof that eating right, exercise, not smoking, not taking drugs can do for your looks and health. I would hope I look that good at 83!

What a great memory, even though (or perhaps because) the event was so heart-wrenching. The last thing Scott said to me was, "I love you too, Bill". I cherish the little time we spent together, having met just before he was stricken with Guillain Barre. This segment has been another precious moment for me. SO many memories whirling around in the ol' gray matter now. The first time I saw The Mama's and The Papa's, Cass' sister Leah was singing her part. The second time, Spanky McFarlane ("Mama Spanks" - John P), another hero of mine, was singing Mama Cass' harmonies. Guess who'll be my playlist for today?

Even with today's medicine and technology, many doctors still missed preliminary warning signs of heart trouble. People also miss warning signs. One of my younger brothers ignored a warning and dismissed it as a flubug. He died 2 years ago. I was sick and couldn't attend his funeral. I was struggling with breathing issues. It wasn't until April, 2022 when I had a heart attack and went into a hospital that I was diagnosed with Restrictive Lung disease. It was an underlying problem related to 2 arteries near my heart that were 80%blocked. Between April and July, I had 3 more heart attacks before having angioplasty. 2 stents placed in the blocked arteries. It's amazing how getting oxygen throughout your body helps you breathe better! I am now able to go for a few hours a day without being leashed to an oxygen tank! God has been there for me and has blessed me greatly! ❤
