Here are today’s illegal actions: 14:05 T.G. Hyper Librarian makes MBT draw a card here. Not drawing a card is illegal because its draw effect is mandatory, not optional 19:50 Illegal Synchro Summon by Cimo here. There is no tuner involved in this Synchro Summon 20:10 Laval Dual Slasher gains effects based on the number of Laval monsters in your GY. This has nothing to do with the number of ‘different named’ Laval monsters in your GY. When MBT used D.D. Crow, this reduced the number of Laval monsters in Cimo’s GY from 4 to 3, meaning Laval Dual Slasher still had piercing (would’ve inflicted 1600 damage on first attack). It’s interesting to note that this probably would’ve won Cimo game 2 because MBT would not have had enough LP to crash Ryko in order to resummon BLS on that turn. He instead would’ve set Ryko which would’ve prompted him to use Dragon’s bounce effect next turn and swing for game. Then again…Cimo did illegally Synchro Summon this duel, so who really knows what would’ve happened if the game flowed on proper game state 🤷🏻‍♂️ 25:18 Doppel Tokens must be summoned in Attack Position

My biggest memory of lavals is facing it when drulers were just released. My opponent went first and spent 10 mins dumping all his resources into a quasar play. I summoned a big eye and he negated it. Then I just summoned another big eye and took it. Good times.

Just for Cimoo the Quasar combo is Level 1 non-Tuner monster (either Scrap Scarecrow or Boost Warrior) + Rekindling + Molten Conduction Zone: 1. Activate Molten Conduction Zone, sending Laval Magma Cannoneer and Laval Volcano Handmaiden to the GY. 2. Use the effects of Handmaiden to mill every other Handmaiden and the second copy of Magma Cannoneer to the GY. 3. Rekindling, SSing all 5 monsters to the field. 4. Synchro Summon into TGHL, then summon your Level 1 non-Tuner 5. SS into Dual Slasher, drawing a card 6. SS into Formula Synchron, drawing two cards 7. SS into Quasar I played this deck quite a bit on Dueling Network the format before Water/Fire format and it was pretty alright. Pretty much a poster child deck that tops a couple of Regionals. It had a very low investment Quasar line which was the main draw of it, but the other Laval Synchros were pretty decent for the time too and Laval Cannon was a really good card you could build more aggressively around, especially once Blaster comes out. Blaster was crazy for this deck.

Alternate line is -Rekindling, summon 2 guys, make laval card and pitch handmaiden. -Handmaiden dumps 2 handmaiden and cannoneer -2nd rekindling brings out Firedog, 2 handmaiden, cannoneer. -Make hyper librarian -battle phase, Stennon over librarian, librarian over Sorc, Dog over Armory Arm, summon magician from deck. -M2 make stardust -summon boost warrior, make formula -make shooting star. End result, MBT drew 2 off librarian, but Cimo kills everything but token, has a destruction/attack negate and 3 big bodies and drew 4 cards.

What MBT is playing here is oh so close to what I was running in early high-school. This is a much more “midrange” version of the Quasar deck I’m sure most of us are used to. No gold sarc and no battle phase enders like scarecrow and battle fader. (Also, you want to send 2 cannoneer and 3 maiden off conduction if you have the quasar combo, send a lakeside lady instead of the 2nd cannoneer if not.)

Watching this iteration of Plant Synchro is much more enjoyable than watching them struggle with Drill Warrior or walling up with Dandelion (insteadnof synchroing as intended). I guess that they don't play it optimally, and Drill Warrior is better if it can't be removed with TT or Bottomless in SP (I don't know why, someone said it in the comments), but I would still rather have BLS than going -1 in my turn.

1. We need a history of Tier 0. Can you do a video covering the tier 0 formats? ex. Tele-dad vs Zoodiac 2. Can you do a game of modern Yu-Gi-Oh with everything at 3? I don't think some cards are as busted as people think!
