I loved everything about this. I have never seen these instruments before although I've seen/heard their analogues in the music of other South Asian countries like India and Pakistan and also Arabian music. And perhaps because I hadn't seen them before, it struck me that every culture invents the same techniques to produce musical instruments - the bowed and plucked strings, the picked and strummed strings, the tuneable percussion. The piano is a kind of hammered string instrument which also appears in various forms throughout the world as is the blown tube such as flutes and horns. Evidence that music really is the universal language. Even his singing style has equivalents in techniques like yodelling and of course there are forms of it in American country music and Swiss music. In fact one of my favourite jazz singers, Leon Thomas, uses a form of yodelling not entirely divorced from the one used here to great effect. But I really fell in love with the percussion. Such an elegant and beautiful way to combine the elements of rhythm and bass in one instrument. Viewed simply as artefacts they were beautiful. I have an album collection I've long since lost count of although I know it's in 4 digits (not because I'm rich, because I'm old and had lots of time to accumulate it) and yet once again I'm introduced to a genre of music I was unaware of. As I said in another comment, it never ends. And I'm eternally grateful for it. Music in all its forms is the passion of my life. I wonder if you've heard an album called My Life in the Bush of Ghosts by David Byrne and Brian Eno. It's basically art rock from the 80s and incorporates "found" elements from sources all around the world, from a radio exorcism to Muslim chanting to an evangelical preacher as the centrepiece of their compositions. It can be found as a complete album and also as individual tracks on KZbin and I think it would be absolutely your kind of thing. All five singers are members of the LGBTQ+ community. This was their response to the Pulse massacre in Orlando Florida in 2016. I've downloaded this song and put it on my personal permanent playlist; it's just so full of hope and empowerment, and I'm desperately in need of that. Their description reads: "As music artists we are given an incredible platform with which to reach the world. One of the most inspiring and rewarding aspects of our job is the ability to make a difference in people's lives. In keeping with the spirit of why we pursued our dreams as music artists, and the positive impact we aspired to have on others, we decided to make this video with some of our closest friends in celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and all of our fans who love unconditionally and see no barriers. So glad you are better!! I’m not much of a Katy Perry fan, but she definitely went up in my estimation after learning this was her song. As another commenter mentioned, all these fabulous singers are members of the LGBTQ+ community, and they recorded this in response to the Pulse nightclub massacre in 2016 in Florida where 49 people were killed and 53 were wounded. Such an empowering and meaningful song performed masterfully! I love how Mary Lambert comes in after we are blown away by those four huge voices and pulls us in with her quieter, but no less amazing voice. Thank you for your reaction! As far as SuperFruit, you really cannot go wrong. My favorite is ‘Guy.exe’, it shows a completely different side to Mitch and Scott.

I’m glad you’re feeling better! I had no bad reaction to my first two vaccinations, but did react badly to a combination of Covid booster and flu shot done at the same time last week. I don’t recommend doing them at the same time. These five singers are all members of the LGBTQ+ community and did this song to commemorate the anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub murders.
