If you only want to affect the edge of your freeze modifier in growth mode, overlay a random field in Overlay, That will keep your growth area solid yellow and outside the area, solid red but the edge will be displaced according to the random field. This was the only mode you didn't put the Random Field in.

So THAT'S how you get the selections to remain painted on the vertex map! DECAY! I thought the Linear field was my only option for something like that but Decay allows you to control things using other field types.

love your tutorials. Very useful! i have a question: why' when i set Grow effect it make the C4D file so Huge? (mine was 9.2 GB) that is insane. i put it on a Matrix with 350 * 350 * 3

I mean 350x350x3= 367,500. That is quite a bit

Hi! The Vertex map tag isn't appearing for me. Is there a pre-setting that I am missing?

Make sure to have the object and vertex map tag selected. Display mode could also be the issue.
