Thanks for the new tutorial. Constraints are the new thing in the last year. The keyframing is a little tricky with the Record Optimize button because sometimes it becomes a drop down. I think that happens if there is more than one Target involved. I would recommend opening the Local Offset folder to make sure all those keyframes get set.
@eyedesyn7 жыл бұрын
Nice point! I always tend to make sure the keyframes are set, which is why I double checked in the tutorial as well, always good to know whats going on when you hit that button!

I see a familiar face in the interview section on that homepage. That looks like a great resource. I'm surprised I haven't been all over these tutorials. And this is a very handy AE plug in if you like working in Illustrator and AE's shape layers. motionworks.net/overlord/ I've always wanted editable text from Illustrator to work in AE.

Hey EJ, how would you do a character throwing or dropping an object on the floor?
@eyedesyn6 жыл бұрын
Just as you'd have no parent weights strength when the bomb is up in the air, you'd do the same thing where the object would be weighted to nothing and keyframed to the floor, or you could even activate dynamics as the weight strength of, say, the hand, goes to 0%
@animation_walk7 жыл бұрын
happy New year thanks allot you did me a solid, but one quick question is it the same setup as Picking up an object?
@eyedesyn7 жыл бұрын
Happy New Year! Yep! Just follow the same workflow, adding the Parent weight when you want that object (bomb in this case) to be picked up by the other object (hand).
@bobbihansel3 жыл бұрын
Great tut, thank you! Quick question, if I may pick your brains, would this constraint work for targeting a soft body spline (rope) through a (climbing) characters hands?

I have a tarp on a building I want to blow in the wind. When I add in a cloth effect so it can do this, it just falls through the building. I've been trying to constrain it to the building using this method to prevent it from falling off. No luck. Any tips on this? Surprised how little there is in terms of tutorials for making an object stay attached while being impacted by the wind.

I'm having an awful time animating a weightlifter doing the clean and jerk. I'm using PC constraints and making the bar the child. How would you do it?
@eyedesyn5 жыл бұрын
i would create two nulls that are where the arm positions would be and make them a child of the barbell, then link the arms to those nulls with constraints! hope that helps!
@drewjackson38585 жыл бұрын
@@eyedesyn Thanks for the reply so quickly. I'm going to have to make an IK chain for this to work right. The reason I ask is it's a daz rigl imported from motionbuilder which created its own rigs and the IK doesn't work in Cinema. If I add another rig, it would approach abuse. (The Mobu PC constraint doesn't work perfectly. Arg Autodesk! Why can't all programs work as well as Cinema!)

How did you manage to make the character bend the legs without rotating the feet? I rigged a similar character, placed the leg's goals out of the body group, but when i lower the character's body on y axis, looks like he is on his feet's toals.

I used a rigged spline with spline wrap so the feet aren't rigged at all

Hi. I'm using constraint tag for my project but its soo buggy. Object jumping issues with constrain tag parent option. Can you help me to any other way pickup and rotate animation without constrain tag. It's very helpful for my upcoming projects.
@eyedesyn5 жыл бұрын
make sure your priorities and object manager are setup correctly, if you don't have the correct order youll have the jumping. ie. the object with the constraint tag should be lower in the object manager the object that it is constrained to

I am attempting to have a character holding a rifle. I want their right hand to control the position/rotation of the gun, but I want the left hand to stay stationary holding the end of the barrel... what is the best way to go about this? Can I somehow use this tag with IK to make it so wherever the gun goes, the left hand follows with the arm stretching/bending?
@eyedesyn6 жыл бұрын
I'd use a constraint tag to clamp the rifle to the object on the hand, give that a try!
@adeptedits6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that worked to get the gun to move with the right hand... now what would be the best way to get the left hand to move with the gun?
@eyedesyn6 жыл бұрын
You mean changing the gun to go from one hand to the next? Basically the same technique I show in this video!
@adeptedits6 жыл бұрын
Not exactly... When you hold a gun (or really anything that takes two hands) your right hand is the one that "leads" or moves the object. Your left hand follows wherever that object goes as you hold onto it. I essentially want the right hand to control the position/rotation of the gun, and the gun to control the position/rotation of the left hand. Is this even possible in cinema?

Hi EJ, very nice tutorial man !!! I was looking for something like this from a very long time . I struggle a bit in modelling, and wants to model these kind of characters, just wanted to know if you've extruded the limbs from the body itself or they are separate geometries (capsules/cylinders) ? Also would it be possible for you to share the project file for this ? That would be so helpful . Thanks :)

Hi EJ I'm having trouble with mograph clone...When I use the grid clone mograph and put 0 on the y axis cause I want my object (spheres) to lay on the ground, then I use the random effector for scale but then the object (sphere) ends up no longer being on the ground anymore the smaller ones and up hovering and the bigger ones go through the ground... How do u did it so my scaled spheres are on the ground...pls help
@eyedesyn7 жыл бұрын
That's because clones axis center defaults to the center of each object, to change that you'd need to make the clone editable, and edit the Anchor Point to be at the very bottom of the geometry. Then, in the Cloner settings uncheck "Fix Clone" and this will then use the Axis Center of the object!
