Man, DC has made a LOT more animated superhero movies than I realized. Oh well, just more sins for me to hunt and collect! Batman: Under the Red Hood came out nearly a decade ago and while many of you had no idea... most all of you can agree this movie has some sins!

100% The Joke is that Robin THOUGHT he was going to get out alive. His hope is the setup and his realization that he's going to die is the punch-line. CinemaSins, however, only takes things at very VERY literal levels. Good for a laugh sometimes but don't dive in too deep, you'll hit your head.

If robin was thinking he would know that breaking his collarbone was gonna send him into shock. So it has more to do with him losing control which is exactly what batman took him in to prevent.

The leaving him alive with some hope of escape was kind of the joke. He was supposed to get all the way to the door he just saw Joker exit, only to find it locked with no time left to escape. It's to create that feeling of hopelessness.

I'm glad you mentioned that, because I really hate that people think that scene is good. The Joker is able to kill those guards because they fucking stand there like lambs waiting to be slaughtered. to be fair, the comic book is much better, because it doesnt make it blatantly obvious who the red hood is right away (not to mention not long before Clayface was posing AS Jason to throw batman off). For what its worth, this movie is still very entertaining and worth the watch. I personally would have knocked down a sin or two for Jason's brief talk about the Joker with batman. That was some powerful voice acting. And in the end, this is STILL a better movie than most "real action" DC movies of the past, dunno, ten years? "Ignoring what he's done in the past-blindly, stupidly disregarding the entire graveyards he's filled, the thousands who've suffered, the friends he's crippled. The comic book had the advantage of Jason Todd being dead for more than 10 years and not being in any comic (except as a memory). No reader knew it was Robin until it was revealed. The movie can't count on this advantage so it made the story easier.

Another advantage of the comic was Jason being back from the dead had been done and revealed as fake in the comics less then a year before the comic did it for real. So no one though DC would do the same reveal twice in such a short time.

And don't forget the Batman reply: "It would be too damn easy" , implying that the hardest thing to do is to be coherent with oneself and that the Joker is, in fact, the hardest villain he ever face, not because of his madness, but because he challenges the very thing that makes a hero, a hero. To be honest, I forgot everything about this movie except that one line: "it would be too damn easy". It is a very concrete way to answer a really good emotional speech with a line that shows how hard is the inner fight in comparison to the exterior fight. I just find beautiful the fact that for Batman it is easy to kill someone than to be what he needs to be.
