Halloween Ends is the end of this modern Michael Meyers trilogy and it's got plenty of sins, as you might suspect.
Next week: animated sins and animated comic book sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

Also also, you mean to tell me that Laurie was a recluse for 40 years, dealt with paranoia and anxiety over what happened to her, and was ready to go if Michael escaped, etc. but after her daughter gets killed, she’s just like I’m cool now, it’s all good, she’s living her life and she’s happy, even though the boogeyman she feared killed her daughter and is on the loose? What I really hated about this movie was the way it pushed this idea of repeated trauma for Haddonfield, even though this trilogy is *supposed* to be a direct sequel to the 1978 film, meaning there have only been 2 nights of Michael Myers killing random people in the town's history. This movie REALLY wants to build on all of the sequels that came before it, while also claiming those sequels don't exist in this universe.
@CandieP

Well don’t forget Michael was most famous for killing his own sister in 1963 at age 6, then he breaks out of the mental hospital and proceeds to kill a few town teenagers in 1978 at age 21. Then he breaks out again 40 years later to wreck havoc on Haddonfield killing a whole mob squad, fire squad and towns people. I say that is enough to trauma an entire small town.

That was the problem with the first one, which they kinda tried to lampshade in a conversation with the granddaughter and her friends, but it still came off as shoe-horned. @@moon-01237 Ι actually liked this trilogy. My only gripe that I try to ignore is that in the first film he is presented as a very dangerous psycho, yet an otherwise normal man. Then in Kills, he gets his ass beat all over the place by that mob AND shot like 4 times, and not only is he not stone cold dead, but he immediately gets up and kills everyone. So is he superhuman or not? They couldn't make up their minds it seems. I would have preffered if they linked the two movies more consistently. If he got beat up but somehow managed to escape without going into terminator mode that would have made somewhat more sense and then this movie would be a better one in my opinion. And as for the town acting like assholes towards Laurie, sad as it is, it also makes sense because people that have been through trauma, often tend to look for someone to blame for it, and since Myers was not around, they would somehow make it as if Laurie was responsible, because she was still in Haddonfield and still alive, when so many others were dead. I also liked the Rob Zombie duology more than any other Halloween except the original of course, so sue me.

The honest problem for this film is the entire thing is an out of nowhere left turn. If they had built up Corey as a character in the prior to films I think this film would have been better received. It also didn't help that they made the build up of this film trilogy to be the final Michael Vs Laurie Showdown but changed their mind in the 3rd act of a trilogy to become the Corey show. Also this would have worked better had it been the forth film Michael and Laurie having had their showdown in the 3rd film Michael dying and this being the legacy of his Evil acting more as an epilogue to the series cause I can't believe Laurie would just let things lie and try to have a normal life after Michael killed her daughter and Tommy.

what should have been done was toward the end of Kills when Laurie's daughter takes his mask and tries to trick him into taking it back, Michael should have just turned around and walked away-disappearing into the night. Ends should have picked up a bit later with Laurie having Michael's mask in her possession and he randomly shows up for it blending into the crowd because he doesn't have his famous mask.

I liked Halloween 2018 and Halloween Kills, but I don't think the whole Michael is obsessed with Laurie thing works very well because basically every time he runs into her in this trilogy isn't really intentional on his part. He's usually following someone else targeting Laurie, it's more like everyone except for Michael is obsessed with her in Haddonfield. In 2018 Sartain took him there, in Kills he didn't even care about her, and in Ends he was following Corey. I think for it to work you might need Halloween 2 which they basically discounted because he's actively pursuing her by himself.

right but that's extremely lazy filmmaking. Michael is credited as "the shape" in the first film because he's not really a human he's the embodiment of pure evil. bringing total annihilation to a movie's supernatural villain is a cardinal sin as it makes what was once a character seemingly transcended mortality disappointingly human. if he was human all along and all you needed to do was throw him in the meat grinder he suddenly becomes no different than you or I what defeats the purpose of the Myers villain all together. he isnt some psycho in a mask he's pure evil. something you cannot kill.

Though this film seems aware of it's potential divisive nature to a point where it's title font is akin to "Halloween III" as a nod, I really do not think this one will have that same feeling as time goes on. Unlike III, which we took for what it was after getting over no Michael and still finding it had an interesting story bringing back the traditions of old using the commercial machine Halloween was at that point to help it along, this one is just going to be remembered as a disappointing mess that should have picked it's lane on Michael's presence being passed to another because the town has that effect, or just finishing the battle between Laurie and Michael. Also, did anyone else get vibes of "We Need to Talk About Kevin" when it came to that woman who survived but is now forever crippled?
