Red Notice is a lot of flash and noise and style and sadly very little substance or even logic. But hey, everyone in the entire world watched it, so... it's got that going for it. Tons of sins though.
Thursday: martial arts sins
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

The thing that annoyed me so much about this movie is how the cop was able to follow them through the security of the mansion of that evil dude to his treasure room when they established how much they had to prepare and coordinate for Ryan and Dwayne to get there.

@@MagicalBread Not Wonder Woman and the Rock. There is also a female Interpol agent (Ritu Arya) chasing Ryan Reynolds and by extension Dwayne Johnson. She catches the pair mid-heist after they have bypassed security, with no explanation for how she also got past the guards. I had anticipated that this scene was foreshadowing for an alliance between the cop and Gal Godot's thief as a third act reveal. Instead the scene just becomes a Plot Hole when the actual twist comes out.

I find "Red Notice" to be quite fascinating in many respects. Once in awhile, you get a blockbuster that is so allergic to having any sense of real effort put into it and is entirely coasting off on both star power and the hope that the easy standards of the blockbuster viewing audience will be able to not even once question a single thing they see and just go with it because "That's what blockbsters do." be it this convoluted grift that makes no sense when you think about it, or how a Jeep from years ago can still be able to function with ease. It's one thing to be bad, it's another thing to be shameless and know you are. Also, Sins dangling this sins goldmine over our heads for the past few weeks like such teases.

love your comment, I myself take pleasure in watching shallow blockbusters, every cliche stands out beautifully, that fast paced dont-think-about-it-hey-look-something-else-is-happening energy radiating from the screen, its like watching money burning on a TV, this one being a fake blockbuster just makes it even more delightful... and somehow, also almost respectable for being able to fake it so properly considering how little they cared and how short their budget was since they had to pay those three guys

What's wrong with Red Notice? It's a live-action, third-rate ripoff of _Lupin the Third: The First_ , that's what's wrong with it. The irony is that _The First_ is also a ripoff of every action-adventure film ever, but - unlike Red Notice - the _Lupin_ film is actually entertaining. The only thing that _Red Notice_ does a bit better is the ending. The Lupin film feels a bit like a Marvel ripoff in that respect. But I still respect the Lupin III film over RN any day of the week.

@@tlshortyshorty5810 Hey, welcome to that _exact_ same club, and that exact same sentiment. _The First_ really was an effective mouthwash for that depressing pile of pseudo-fanservice that was NTTD. A shame that some elements of the Part 5 and 6 story arcs took Lupin III down the dreary road too (honestly, is anyone really having any _fun_ in Part 6?), but it's _still_ better than NTTD any day of the week. This may be an unpopular opinion, but Part 4, for all the sci-fi that was the DaVinci subplot, really did have that a spot-on balance between seriousness and a good old action-adventure. I'd even say that Unhinged Fujiko™ really did add much needed levity. Part 4 just felt as if it had the most love and care put into it of the current series. FYI, my POV is from watching the subs. Wasn't going to accept Part 4 without Yuji Ohno's soundtrack.

@@cudak888 I guess you can tell I’m into the (Dr!) Indiana Jones series, and Lupin, especially the really old episodes (Red Jacket/Part 2), really hit the high points for me in that regard when I found them. It managed to be really cartoonish Roger-Moore-but-weeb style while still being as serious as it needed to be and captured that sense of adventure- not to mention the baller ass soundtrack. I didn’t see much of Part 5 except the free episodes on the KZbin channel but what I did see I really liked. Maybe you can hate on me for preferring the dub but it’s one of the very few anime where I prefer it. I knew Michelle Ruff for being the English VA for Huxian in Ace Combat 7, and I really feel in love with Fujiko- not just for her fanservice and style but for her ability to mercilessly roast everyone she came across.

sorry Jer they used hours EXPLICITLY so you dont have to do time zone math. a 8 hour fight still takes 8 physical hours even if you cross 3 time zone and its winds up yesterday, YOU are still 8 hours later. Uses non volatile time in the cards makes more sense, like wise, AS YOU POINTED OUT, because of time zones when somone says they only knew a person for 2 days that is ALSO correct and 2 days IS volitile time effected by time zones.

15:56 Dwayne Johnson weighs something like 275 lb and because he only weighs that much the muscles in a bull's neck alone could send him flying 30 feet in the air. Think about what the impact of one ramming into him would do. Then after that keep in mind a bull might not just hit him so he goes flying. They are also known to bury their heads into the ground with you between their head in the ground and just drag you along trying to gut you with their horns.

@@COEYRN That was actually an SNL skit after the show dropped “And a Pizza Place” from the title and they pretended NBC picked it up as its own show that was just about pizza. I never watched the real show but always think of that skit whenever I hear it. I couldn’t find a video of the skit but you can read the script online if you’re interested. This may fall upon deaf ears but I really appreciate this Channel and it's humor. I find it hard to watch movies anymore my attention span can no longer last 2 hours. But I do like revisiting movies I have watched because I know what's going to happen and there's no anxiety in that but now I find it's even better to have those movies condensed down to 20 minutes with commentation and jokes. You might get millions of views and make a few dollars here and there. You might genuinely enjoy pointing at the hypocrisy of Hollywood and cliches. that twist literally works perfectly if it was ryan reynolds character. predictable yes, but itd serve his character better. hes lying about not trusting anyone but grows to trust the rock, to the surprise of gal gadots character (this would be during the electrocution scene where he gives up the fake egg). in the end its revealed he met her at boarding school ran away and stole to make a living but compete to keep it interesting (and he has trust issues). the rock goes to jail for helping them but recruits them to track down another thing starting the netflix equivalent of the fast and furious franchise ending in the 12th movie Black Notice where they go to space to steal teleportation blueprints from an alien mothership before Earth is wiped out by a cyber plague

Also the comically pathetic ear pieces in these types of movies are just sad. Do you realize that the trchnology has been upgraded so far that essentially they can now be tiny dots that are implanted into the inner ear and unable to be scene without medical equipment and the microphones also can be implanted in such covert ways that they can be nearly undetectable if you don't know what you're looking for? It's possible to make a microphone look like a tiny goddamn mole on your body that doesn't look out of place on anyone...or put in the base of your throat while being so small that it doesn't disrupt any functionality...the shit is endless. You'd think Hollywood would have switched up this type of thing for just the simple reason that it's vastly more efficient to shoot a scene without the props being visible, and the stories would benefit from not having something so dumb and avoidable being a reason someone gets caught or whatnot
