Fun Fact: An actual Amazon tribe (who were very nice and friendly) played the cannibal tribe in the movie. When the crew approached them to be in the movie, they realized the tribe had no idea what a movie was. To show them, Eli (the film's director) brought in a TV and played "Cannibal Holocaust", a movie similar to this one. The tribe liked it and thought it was a comedy. Some that signed up to be extras even ended up working as crew members. The villagers also really appreciated being in the movie.

The fact that they didn't even know the name of the tribe they were trying to help is a sadly realistic part of this movie, most mission trips/"service" in developing countries is designed to benefit the students far more than the locals. Obviously they didn't deserve being butchered lmao but anyone who thinks about doing a volunteer trip should be careful to understand where they're going, what's selfish for tourists to do in foreign countries, and what the benefit of their work will actually be

Agreed. i knew a guy in my class who went to Slovenia for 2 weeks (wouldnt stop talking bout it) for a mission trip with his church. Less of a mission trip, more like a two week vacation with some mass thrown in and a few bouts of feeding the poor. Those kinds of trips are definitely more for the individual than those they are "helping," considering the shelters they visited already had enough staff to volunteer. Extra hands is nice, but if you are planning on a mission trip, do research on what you're actually getting into and the practicality/benefits of what youre doing.

Easiest way to survive something like this is to never put yourself in a position were it can happen. Don't go to the amazon without the right equipment, training, and a large group of people that also have equipment and training.

Those darts...IM injections take 10-15 minutes to work so unless the tribe happened to hit you perfectly in a vein or artery, you'd have at least 10 minutes before losing consciousness, so the dude with the tracker would have had more than enough time to set it off. Also, after escaping the cage, even if they blow darted you right away, you'd have at least 10 mins to try and find somewhere to hide until you regained consciouness

my first problem with the movie was the pilot lost control of the plane as soon as the engine spontaneously combusted.. even with no engine those planes can still maintain altitude for quite a while.. Also Elohendro being alive at the very end, trapped within the tribe, it was perfect.

The best part about this movie is that those villagers aren't actors at all they are real indigenous tribes-people, Eli Roth had to basically mime and mimic the movements and show them what to do and play with the fake bloody body parts, they thought it was fun. I don’t know, I feel like if I were the tribespeople and I knew I were getting into a war with people with firearms then I’d want all the help I can get. They also have no reason to keep him trapped, if they somehow win the battle then they will have more than enough dead bodies to keep them fed and hopefully some living ones as well given the darts, if they lose the battle then leaving him trapped is not useful at all because they all died or had to retreat to a different part of the forest and I heavily doubt they’d want to carry a fully grown man with them in their swift retreat. The women and children went to fight as well so I believe they did think that they needed all of their people to fight off the threat.

This movie could have been so much better if it just ended with the MC getting killed or something, literally anything that doesn't end with her making it out alive. Like if there's one thing to solidify this movie has terrible writing to make the final girl look better it's that the movie opens with the MC complaining about female mutilation in tribes just to end the movie with her defending a tribe that participates in female mutilation. She quite literally lies to let the tribe continue committing acts she herself has deemed as "wrong" and "barbaric". MC comes from a rich background to the point her father would have been able to send a personal militia to execute every single tribesman to rescue his daughter if she was able to contact him. After escaping and lying about what happened, all MC did was guarantee more people end up in the same situation as her friends who were arguably there for a better reason than her trying to impress some dude. This movie genuinely tries to get you to side with the character who sympathizes with literal barbaric cannibals that mutilate their own members. The only difference between MC and her friend is that her friend doesn't try to pretend to be a good person. Actually kinda messed up seeing people comment that she was there to help save the forest. Like as someone whose actually watched the full movie and not just a YT recap, no, y'all dumb, it's made quite clear she only joined to impress the leader of the activist group because he called her out on not really caring about being an activist. The movie does make it very clear she is not going because she wants to do something good, she goes purely for her own selfish reasons. Imagine going out into the boonies to interview a cult that is claimed to be cannibals and violent. You and everyone else gets killed except for one girl who goes back to town saying you attacked the cult and the cult only killed in self defense. That's this movie summed up in a sentence and I really don't see how anyone can side with the girl in that scenario. At the end of the day we do have a real world example of "Green Inferno" existing, there is a remote island with a tribe that kills anyone who gets close and not once has a single person ever been supported for visiting said island. To have some girl visit that island and return saying "Actually they're really peaceful, it's your fault for attacking them first", that's just insanity. I cannot stress enough that Justine was only in that forest because she wanted to get with the activist leader, the movie makes this so clear and the fact that the leader does already have a girlfriend just makes Justine look that much more selfish and arrogant. Justine is literally a spoiled rich kid who only wants to do good when it can make herself look better, if I'm wrong then anyone is free to explain why she didn't use her dads money to help the cause herself. Just BRUH, JUSTINE, THEY WERE LITERALLY ABOUT TO CUT YOUR JUNK UP AND YOURE DEFENDING THEM, YOU ARE LITERALLY DEFENDING PEOPLE WHO WERE ABOUT TO MUTILATE YOU, just god damn what a stupid fuckin movie

I think the ending screen play was stupid because Justine sides with cold blooded savages in the end after seeing all the malignancy they committed. That wouldn't happen in real life with anyone... Also, I thought it was also stupid to see a bunch of farm animals at the end of the film living right next to cannibals (which this video doesn't show). The reason for the existence of real life cannibals is because there wasn't/isn't any animals or crops around. But, this film defiles anything historians have said. They were also in open air, so the probability of all the village getting high is low... AND for all them to get high from 5 grams is pushing what it can do. They were high off their rockers, for that to happen, you need to either smoke a LOT of weed or smoke some concentrate (hash (made from a high THC weed that also has strong effects) or wax).
