Also in Breaking Bad and a lot of other movies: North America has a blue sky, South America a green one. In Game of Thrones the different Kingdoms have different colors - Colors can also be used as a kind of map. Thanks for another great video.

Me being an architecture student trying to learn more about colours and perspectives and thinking " HOW HAVE I NOT FOUND THIS EARLY?! " . Although I'm in a different profession ,this really is linked with my daily work . To know the correct angles to render and the combination of colours is really important . This video really helped me to pay more attention on details . Thank you so much !!!

For me "don't look now" (1973) has the greatest use of colour in film.

What do you think about Suspiria? Although I've watched both the films, I remember Suspiria much more distinctly.
@jack_myers3 жыл бұрын
@@anirudhnarayan89 absolutely, great contender so I completely agree however suspiria or incredibly stunning and impressive, I love it, don't look now has a more effective and practical use of colour as opposes to style if that makes sense.

Breaking Bad uses color in such a genius way. Actually, the whole show is genius. Literally everything was so carefully thought you can spend days analysing a single episode.

Love this! Color in cinematography is so important. Greta Gerwig does this so explicitly yet at the same time subtly in Little Women (2019), with yellow light signifying their past/childhood, and blue light signifying the present

6:17 the sanitation trucks are blue, because they are indeed were all blue in USSR, not because it means something. I am from post-soviet country, those trucks are iconic, some countries still use them. Chernobyl did a great job with decorations and authenticity. Sometimes you overthink and make up things. Maybe you are right, but i just wanted to say that these truck with such color was a regular thing

The noticed point seems to be similar to how Sir Roger Deakins feels about cinematography in general. The interesting shots and the standard shots all surve a purpose and are needed but you don't want to make the audience detach from the scenes that are playing out. You watch the audiecne to be sucked in further. Making a film is a beautifully choreographed dance that takes so many people so much effort and time to get right.

You will think that every single colour will have a specific feeling that is universally used that way. Well that maybe true to a degree. If you establish a colour to mean something at the beginning of a film, the audience will subconsciously feel that way when u show the color again. So if we establish that warm is bad and blue is good, when warm colour comes on the screen, the audience will start to feel uneasy without knowing exactly way. The colour in ur film should be purpose full nor noticed. This is a subconscious message communicated tot he audience.

I love movies. I also teach courses on the subconscious mind. I basically coach people on how to operate their subconscious minds to improve their life. I tell them to "wash off the day" each night before sleeping. These color-coded messages might be intended for a movie, but they can trigger other things in individuals. People actually get influenced by movies and television for this very reason.

I really hope this comment will catch your eye. 😁 I was wondering if it would work to establish with one color that the bad guy (dangerous situation) say is red, good is blue, but then in the end the good character turns out to be bad one, would I need to change color or should I keep it as it might still create sense of safety??? 😥
