If you go to the product website they do offer an adapter for either 17mm thread, M-series or T-series lenses... Next the question is whether they'll offer a DOF adapter for bigger lenses like BeastGrip.

The idea looks great… but has quite a few flaws. 1- The cage itself: having to go around screwing the case is no good. There are other better solutions in the market, like smallrig, newer or beastcage. 2- The handle: the handle could be used to solve the major problem of the iPhone: one port only. So, the handle could have a SSD inside and a usb-c and mic jack to connect an external mic. Also, I don’t understand why there’s a cable in there instead of just a simple usb-c plug to connect directly to the phone; 3 - the cooling fan seems cool but it’s connected to close to the lenses, so if you want to attach a traditional VND you can’t; 4- there’s no way to connect a traditional VND. So, it makes it impossible to use it on a run and gun situation; 5- it seems that, because of the weight of all the gear, it not possible to use a smalller gimbal. All consider, why not just use a proper camera? Image would be better in most situations.

Agree about the handle - for it's size could definitely have the features you mentioned... I'm also concerned that it is so large that it would be visible in the frame of the ultra-wide lens. Definitely any cage or rig has to watch out for how far out from the lens assembly it goes for any attached lens or filter, especially if you hope to use the full field of view of the ultra-wide. Kondor Blue is doing some interesting accessories for smartphone cages and handles, so they're another company to keep an eye on.

Still not the solution I'm looking for. I'm assuming the battery grip charges the phone right? No-one wants to attach an SSD with a grip like that. Give me a battery grip and a magsafe SSD that fits in place of that "wallet" and plugs into the grip. Or replace that fan with an SSD attachment. Done.

After receiving the Khronos Cooling System from B&H, I conducted an amateur, unscientific cooling test, and the Khronos unit cooled down by 9°C (17°F). I plan to post more tests within my Facebook group.

Great to see this great new product. But just one question. Why we must choose, with the handle, to deliver power OR connect an SSD. There is a usb-c port on top of the handle. Why don’t use it to charge the handle and to connect a SSD. If not possible why don’t add a second usb-c on top 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Just the Tilta rig that was in the video costs $570! Not to mention all the other stuff around it. For this much money you can get a Sony ZV-E10 with a kit lens easily and have a far superior camera than an iPhone. It makes absolutely no sense to spend this much on a rig. I'm all for smartphone filmmaking, but rigs like this take all the benefits out of it.
@LeFilmeaste
@LeFilmeaste 5 ай бұрын
I think it's just a matter of run and gun setup and workflow. A Sony ZV-e10 is a compact camera, but you can't plug an external SSD, and you'll be limitated with the battery. The goal of having such a setup, from my point of view would be to have a very light and versatile setup. You have your phone at anytime with you, and just by bringing a tiny little bag, you can easily equip it and have it ready with all the need of a professional shoot. Manual focus, ND filter, nice view screen, little light and SSD holder. This whole setup is light to carry around and you don't have to worry about bringing more battery or SD card.
@kozjegyzo
@kozjegyzo 5 ай бұрын
@@LeFilmeaste if you look at the footprint of the whole Tilta system it has a very similar footprint as a ZV-E10 and at the end of the day you are still stuck with an iPhone with a puny sensor and mainly plastic lenses. You can use SD cards in the ZV-E10 and additional batteries that you can actually switch if they run out. It's a far superior system, to an iPhone for filmmaking purposes. It's objectively better.

I'm wondering how effective that cooling fan really is.... since it's just blowing the air to the back of the phone, the air is not going to magically pass through the frame and cool down the components inside the iphone

You can fool yourself all you want, but iPhone footage can never be “cinematic”… That word is so overused today people have no clue what it really means. If you’re shooting on an iPhone, I don’t care how careful you are. It’s going to look mediocre at best. People just don’t shoot great things on an iPhone… That’s an oxymoron. Save up your money and buy a real phone… Perhaps the Sony FX three if you’re really interested in shooting good looking footage. And please stop using the word cinematic.

@BeardedBrummyHikingChronicles

I guess that depends on the definition of ‘cinematic’ and what yourself as an individual interprets as a cinematic image. There are many factors involved in making a good and pleasing image. Cinematic may be regarded as an image with good depth of field hence bringing a character out from the background, an image that’s got an aspect ratio more accustomed to cinema like 2.39:1 or is it the dynamic range that gives us good blacks and creamy highlight roll off, or the grade? All said and done in the right hands the iPhone 15 pro max can give you those things. Yes it’s a ridiculously small sensor that has of course has limitations, highlight roll off isn’t great and super dark scenes won’t be the best BUT when you look back at some of the tools used in cinema from years ago I can guarantee the ProRes log image out of this phone is way better. Case in point, 28 Days Later shot on an early low definition Canon XL1, no body questioned the results of that, The Possession of Hannah Grace was shot entirely on Sony A7sii’s an 8 bit camera, the film looks amazing. Not to mention how many productions used the Canon 5D Mkii in its day! So while I’m not having a rant here in disagreement, just saying times are changing, and whilst even Apple probably never intended the iPhone 15 pro max to be used as a cinema camera it’s great to see people having the balls to use it as such. After all people would have laughed at the thought of the Sony FX3 being used to shoot an iMax film but non the less it’s happened.. it’s only a matter of time a feature film will be shot on the iPhone and the audience won’t even realise as long as the story is engaging and the acting is on point!
