Just got the iPhone 15 and the PolarPro gear - when searching for a camera app I was dissapointed qucikly why would I pay a weekly fee just to use a camera app? But the app store is full of these money ripping camera apps that basically are only made to drain your pockets. So glad I found your video and that Blackmagic came around the corner to save the day (thank you very much for bringing that up in the video).

I have this exact case and VND filter as well. One thing I don’t like is that the back mic gets covered by the filters making the audio sound like crap.

@@davidgodi Yea I use an external mic for when I need to capture audio but it would be nice not to have to use it sometimes. It’s annoying to have to add to the phone especially when you want a really clean setup. You should try recording the audio with the VND on and then off and hear the difference. It’s really noticeable.

I’m glad I stumbled on this video. I’ve been slowly using my iPhone 15 Pro in my work over the last couple months. My problem these days is I also have access to the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 from my workplace. So find myself having to really think about which device is better depending on what I’m shooting. I guess it’s a good problem to have. 😅

Sold my Blackmagic 6K Pro and lenses for an iPhone 15 Pro max with the BM app and Freewell VND. Ive never looked back. Masdive screen, near all-day battery and the log footage is terrific. I purchased the Hollyland Lark 2 mics to take care of the audio side.

Do you use external SSD because for sure recording on Apple Log takes a lot of spaces. If that so, how are you able to mount your phone with external SSD on the way?

Actually when you shoot apple log, its not changing the file size, only when you bump it up to Prores that it becomes massive! I shoot H.265 which is smaller files but still veery high quality (but you need some processing power! But I would love to test Prores in Apple Log! ☺️

It’s the Apple studio display! You can definitely get a just as good monitor for cheaper, but I love the design and the apple ecosystem, so to me it’s worth it!

@@davidgodiMaybe (just maybe) a small battery will fit. Maybe is better to don’t use a nd filter (this will improve stabilisation) and add motion blur in post with some plugin

Thanks man! I think you can get very far with an Iphone to begin with. It really just depends on how fast you want to upgrade to a more “professional” camera. Storytelling is always king, and you start doing that with only a phone! ☺️

I also have an iphone 15 pro max and use black magic app. but I experience a little friction in making the footages usable. I'll still need to learn how to properly color grade or use LUTs to make them look cinematic or just usable in general. I also plan to get instaflow because a few footage still comes out shakey despite having the stabilization on in black magic app. Sometimes I wondered if i should have just filmed in the native apple camera app in cinematic and turn on action mode, and would have gotten the same satisfaction than going through hoops for black magic app footages. Awesome video! What is astounding is that no other camera company has anything close to the feature set that Apple offers in such a sleek form factor. At the rate the iPhone cameras are improving I wouldn't be surprised if it also surpasses the image quality of 'pro' cameras pretty soon.

Fits in your pocket huh? What about the filters, step up rings and all the mount accessories? I guess your iPhone is pretty useless for video if you don’t carry these accessories also. A Dji Pocket 3 is more practical IMO.
