When I was young and in the girl scouts, we would go camping and make what we called "girl scout chicken." You wrap chicken, red potatoes, and green beans in tin foil, put butter, garlic, seasoning, etc on it and close it up. Rest it on the coals for at least 1 hour, and you will have the most delicious chicken dish ever. My dad and his friends go nuts over it, it's really that good. You could use a charcoal grill if you aren't camping..I think I will make some tonight, now that I have it on my mind, lol.

And the fire/charcoal flavor may not get into it well. I've even used foil as a base and added unbleached parchment paper as well but they may not work out straight on coals.

Best fix for if you overcook your chicken, getting dry chicken, is to purchase a food thermometer. The best ones are just simple metal probes that are easy to clean. 165°F/75°C is the temperature you need to reach, and you want to sustain it for 30 seconds to a minute at least. Don't go too long over 30 seconds if moist chicken is necessary. With the internal temperature as a known factor, you can play with the things like cooking temperature and and cooking length.

So, coming from a professional cook here- bone in thigh and drum Chicken does typically have a light rosy pink color, and because of the joints- often times when you break apart the leg from the thigh the chicken will start bleeding from that joint even when cooked to 165-170. That being said, the chicken absolutely should not have started bleeding when he stuck his fork in, and it was definitely too pink to be done. He said he cooked it for about 40 mins, bone in chicken like that usually takes about 75-90 minutes and it's def one of those cuts you want to temp!

if the skin of the chicken is where all the flavoring is, you're cooking the chicken wrong
@FurbyPurrson2 жыл бұрын
Exactly finally someone who understands real cooking. in our country we make chicken gravy with coconut milk. apart from using spices powders (salt, black pepper, red chili, black and yellow roasted powders which we make ourselves in our kitchens) we use tomatoes for sour taste in that way inside the chicken pieces are filled with so many tastes. we don't usually cook chicken with skin on it but when we do we make little cuts little deep on the chicken so when it is marinated with spices whole chicken piece tastes better not just the skin.
@JC_WT2 жыл бұрын
Not really. Unless you're marinating or stewing the chicken, often by the time it's cooked the added flavour that's on the skin hasn't had enough time to penetrate into the meat, especially if you are using dry seasonings on roasted portions. Other methods have a bit more success on imparting the added flavours into the actual flesh. But that doesn't mean one method or another is wrong. If you undercooked it and it gives you food poisoning, then it's cooked wrong.

@MrNota5002 жыл бұрын
Best thing about the air fryer is it takes half the time even when you bake in it. For anyone that dont have one, get one but get a good one. Worst thing is they are so small.
@Jaggededge1122 жыл бұрын
@@MrNota500 mine is a no name brand one but works very well and is perfect sized for two people. I could even make a rotisserie chicken in it if I wanted to. So yes find a good one but it doesn’t have to be name brand or wildly expensive.

2:15 someone saw their mom shake chicken in a baggie for easy coating and turned it into a million bucks. I do that to bread my chicken in corn starch for stir fry, baggie helps coat everything then dump it in a sifter and fry. Mmm I want Mongolian chicken now.

Everyone thinks that red fluid is blood when in fact it's not. It's actually not a big deal. However, when there is THAT much in your chicken, it's not a good sign... Either way that shit is as raw as the day it was born. Cook with a thermometer, folks.

When he first said the temperature I was like "woah that's pretty hot" and then realized it was in fahrenheit, he cooked it at 180 celcius. That being said, for thigh pieces like that you cook it at that temperature for 35-40 minutes, so the cooking time was right. His over is probably just broken, or he took it out early cause he got the time wrong or has a broken timer... also if it's still raw you don't microwave it and call it a day, that is super dangerous. To think he was on masterchef...
