10:06 it's probably mostly to make a broth. You need to let it simmer for a while for the broth to thicken and incorporate the ingredient flavor. :/ Funny thing, chili is better when reheated. Don't know why but when broth cool down it's thicken and really get flavor then.

Coffee rub is fantastic on lots of things, especially pork. Chili needs to be simmered for quite a while to round out and melt the flavours together

I always thought the idea of 'cooking it longer makes it taste better' was a pretty well known chili fact... I guess Ken isn't much of a chili man.

It's like the time my boss made people sick at work, because she thought summer sausage kept forever in the refrigerator. The year before she served raw ham, because she thought smoked ham didn't need to be cooked.

Anything with canned or fresh tomatoes as the base does need to be cooked for a good bit. For example, marinara or tomato sauce needs to simmer for a couple hours to get the right flavor out of the tomatoes. So that's probably the only thing he did well. It's also why tomato sauce from a can is 10× more convenient
@CazadorSlayer Жыл бұрын
Yeah, you can definitely tell Ken must not be much of a chili guy if he didn't know that much. Same goes for the beans and all that, cooking up fresh/dried beans instead of canned is a CHORE.
@jamhamtime1878 Жыл бұрын
@@CazadorSlayer Ken is surprisingly not a cooking guy at all... he looks the part, but I guess not. Especially with how he describes the meat crust not being important, or never thinking about it. The meat side of youtube (where everyone thinks rare is medium rare) would like to speak.

This chili video was from October 30, 2015. The smoked brisket video was from August 1, 2014. 15 months old brisket.
@duende901 Жыл бұрын
Lmao how do you come to that conclusion? He obviously didn't use the exact brisket he cooked in the video from 15 months prior. Why would anyone do that?! You can cook a recipe more than once you know. Everyone totally took this video way out of context 😂😂😂
@GTSE200510 ай бұрын
I think that was actually a different brisket, both briskets had completely different rubs. Not defending Jack though, because the brisket he served his church was definitely stored for an ungodly amount of time. There's no way that a brisket that's leftovers from a few days ago could be green like that and sparkling.
