I purchased this unit last March and have been very pleased with it. The control unit is great with lots of different information, including water temperature, salt level and output level to name a few. One thing though, don't rely on the unit's salt reading. It can be off by as much as 500 ppm. Definitely purchase a Taylor salt test kit to test your salt level. You won't be disappointed. I also really like that the cell is made of clear plastic so you can actually see the cell generating chlorine. It also helps you see when calcium starts to build up on the fins so you know when it's time to clean it with muriatic acid.

Hey Dean, how often did you have to clean the cell in your first season?
@Paggy66683 жыл бұрын
@@JC_2311 I've been pretty lucky. I only got a tiny bit of calcium on the plates and simply blew it out with water from a hose. I didn't use any muriatic acid at all. I also installed this same unit for a friend of mine and she wasn't quite as lucky. It needed to be hosed out a lot more regularly, but her calcium hardness is very high so I'm sure that factored into it a lot. If you keep your chemistry in the right range, it should work great. This year, I added borates to both of our pools and so far, even her pool's cell is clean. The borates help to keep the cell from scaling as frequently. So far, so good.

@@Paggy6668 Thanks for the response man. I'm installing it next week so we'll see how it goes! I've been a member of trouble free pools and following the BBB method since I bought my house with pool a few seasons ago. So my chem is where it should be for the most success. I guess will see. I'll just be glad to not have to carry jugs of chlorine all over the place!

@@JC_2311 I hear ya on the chlorine jugs. It makes things so much easier knowing that you don't have to babysit the pool every day. I absolutely love my unit. I run my VSP 24/7 and the RJ 45+ at around 15% - 20% and all is good. I even keep my FC at around 7 - 8 ppm just to be safe. A little bit high is always safer than a little too low. Why take a chance? The install is fairly simple as long as you have enough space on your equipment pad to cut it in. Mine came out very clean looking. I'm a trouble free pool member as well and i really enjoy reading as well as answering people's questions. Helps keep me sharp and I even learn a thing or two every once in a while.

@@Paggy6668 The bummer is I just installed the system and the display on the control box isn't functioning properly. It displays "power off" even though I have it on. I can even hear/see the chlorine generation click on/off when I press the +/- buttons. Sucks and I hope Circupool's customer service is good.
@kinyu47973 жыл бұрын
Does this fit exact on the PENTAIR IC40 SALT CHLORINE GENERATOR? My IC40 always fail about 5-6 years in. My pool is about 20000 gallon.

I am not sure but I suggest you email Nathan who works for the manufacturer: nathan@circupool.com

Do you prefer this over their core models? I am about to order one. Can you do an install video?
@SPL3 жыл бұрын
As I have not tried the Core model I wouldn't know really. The brand overall is solid.
@Paggy66683 жыл бұрын
The Core models may be a bit newer but the RJ 45+ appears to be the best bang for your buck. The control unit is different on the core models and doesn't have as many features. I believe it also runs differently. The RJ uses a 180 minute run cycle. You set the percentage and it runs full bore for that amount of time, then runs in standby mode for the rest of the cycle. So, if you set it to 50%, it will produce chlorine for 90 minutes, and then rest for the next 90 minutes. After that, it starts all over. The core I believe runs a little differently. If you set the output to a lower percentage, it creates chlorine at a slower rate over the entire time that the unit is on.
@JC_23113 жыл бұрын
This is a little late but I'll post for any others looking at the comments. I'd go with the RJ+ series if only because you can adjust percentage output level by 5% increments while the CORE is only 25% increments. For me, I've found this super useful because I've been running my system at 20% and my FC level stays relatively steady. If it gets sunny/hot or have a lot of people in the pool I can push it up to only 25%-30% for a couple days and I'm back to target FC then drop it back down to 20%. Otherwise I can set and forget for multi days without worrying about FC levels. If I only could set my system at 25% or 50%, I'd be constantly playing a game of see-saw with my FC rising and falling.

I just received my RJ45 Plus kit and per the instructions it says to install the Flo Switch in front of the cell and in this video it is installed after. Is there something I need to know?
@SPL3 жыл бұрын
That is installed before the cell as well.
@Paggy66683 жыл бұрын
It doesn't really matter. My flow switch is mounted after the cell. I also installed a RJ45 for my friend and I put the flow switch before the cell on hers. What's most important is that you give it the nice run of straight pipe to avoid turbulence which might adversely affect the flow switch.
@susancellier33703 жыл бұрын
We called the company for clarification about this, it doesn't matter if it is installed before or after the cell, as long as there is 6-12" straight flow before it.

should all salt systems be ran with a sacrificial anode?

I don't think so but of course that doesn't hurt.

Yes. Better system all around

Do you suggest upgrading when a cell goes bad? I am having issues with a zodiac lm3 . I have a no flow error and do not see a flow switch anywhere . I don’t want to spend a fortune on replacement parts if upgrading is better option.

Hayward cells are expensive. Fortunately my two that failed were still under the initial warranty. I think I will upgrade once I am forced to purchase a new cell.

Can you mount these vertically?
@SPL3 жыл бұрын
I think the only cell you can mount vertically is the Pentair ones.

There is a kit you can by to convert it.

They sell a vertical installation kit (we bought one), so yes.
