Ghost actually won the Grammy for best metal performance for Cirice back in 2016. Tobias is only the third Swedish singer ever to win a Grammy. The other two is opera singers Jussi Björling and Ann Sofie Von Otter. So it's quite a big deal. Try Rats next 🤘

You calling out the frontman reaching out and connecting with a Fan was something that Papa Emeritus would do during this song live. Basically reenacting the scene from this video to give a fan a thrill of a moment. They would call it being Cirice'd. Mostly cut off now due to Ghost doing Arena shows and larger gaps between crowd and stage.

@@rw2394 The word "cirice" is an Old English term that eventually evolved into the modern English word "church." Its etymology traces back to the Greek word kyriakón (meaning "of the Lord" or "belonging to the Lord"), which comes from the Greek word kyrios ("lord"). This term passed into Germanic languages as kirika, which later evolved into Old English as cirice. The progression looks like this: Greek: kyriakón (meaning "of the Lord") Late Greek: kyriakon doma (meaning "house of the Lord") Old English: cirice (used for Christian assemblies or the church building) Modern English: "church" This development also influenced similar words in other Germanic languages, such as kirche in German and kerk in Dutch.

the iconography here and the words make me think of cult programming. the way he is connecting with her specifically, isolating her out of everyone. tell her that he understands her, that everyone says she's broken but he knows it isn't true. once she trusts him, he tells her that she's lost without him, cementing the co-dependency. i haven't heard anyone else talk about it.

I rarely comment on reaction videos but I feel the need of commenting on this one because I started to get emotional when Ken (Hi Ken!) was talking about the connection between an artist and you (I felt that in an Anathema show that I went in 2017, They started playing "Fragile Dreams" which is one of my favourite songs from them and for two seconds, Vinnie (singer and guitar player) looked at me and I felt the spark. And quite the opposite but, at the same level of intensity, happened a year later at my first Iron Maiden concert during "Fear of the dark" at the intro riff everyone started chanting with the rhythm and it was like I wasn't lost, I was one with 16,000 people in an arena and I've never felt so alive. All this to say thank you for being you and making these videos

It is the girl's name as well, but I found out "Cirice" is an old english word for "church"; but it can also be a female name since the video is about the girl. And it sounds like a name. About the lyrics, it's as if Devil itself is talking to her, as if Devil is inside of her, saying all those things; "I can see the thunder that's breaking in your heart, I can see through the scars inside you", it is literally happening inside of her. Baby Papa is the messenger of Devil, so people start getting possessed while the girl is not affected, she already has the Devil inside, that's why she's powerful. The band is performing on the talents show, but it's clear that the WHOLE performance is about the girl, all the time, and about what's happening inside of her: the connection she has with the Devil. The couple clapping in the end are clearly baby Papa's parents 😄❤️
