Any landing that you can walk away from is a good one! The airplane might disagree but it's a good thing it can't talk lol

I really appreciate your videos. Not doing too much flying as winter IMC conditions have prevailed in MN recently. Not that it’s a substitute for flying, but following along and arm chair flying I feel will help keep me a little more proficient. I need FIKI!
@flying_scott11 сағат бұрын
Yeah, FIKI is a game changer for us in the north. Still flying every week with it :)

I do most of my flying in Colorado around Denver which can be busy. We spend most of the winter in Florida and the airspace is a whole different level of busy. Normally fly out of North Palm Beach County and it desperately needs a tower, but everyone usually really does there best, but it can be insane.

You rounded out to early and ballooned and then came the excessive sink rate but don’t be too hard on your self

With the traffic and ATC instructions being so congested and busy, jeez I didn’t think you did such a bad landed (I do reference some of my, let’s say, ordinary landing 😮😅) 👍

@flying_scott Scott, thoughts are circulating that it is related to a design issue and interference. The static and weak Com 2 was traced to an autopilot servo. That component has been re-engineered and has been incorporated in current deliveries. It may be a Cirrus part repositioning/replacement need.

I was reading a little on that, wonder if it would still be an issue when the AP is not on or engaged?

I am not an a CFI, so take my feedback with a pound of salt: 1) You turned final early and cut the corner, so you gave up the time to lose altitude and airspeed. Unless I am circling or doing a short approach, I always try to fly straight lines and do standard rate turns. If you wander toward the final, then you'll have a much harder time to judging your approach. 2) You had power in the whole time you were trying to get down and get slow. You gotta make up your mind. 😂You were well above Vref when you crossed the threshold, so you had excess energy to bleed off. Seems like you were trying to hit the 1000' marks, so you ballooned. 3) You loaded and activated the visual approach, but the active segment to intercept was outside of your base leg. You can see on your PFD that your FPL sequencing was suspended ("SUSP" enabled), so until you intercepted that leg, it was not going to sequence you onto the final GP. If you would have disabled SUSP, it should have skipped forward and given you guidance for a 3 degree GP, which obviously would help. 4) I am not a stickler for the "sterile cokpit" rule, but you seem very distracted on short final despite being out of the pocket.

Interesting, I also fly a G7 - S22T and have had comm issues exactly like you were having in the beginning of the video but only on COM2. COM1 is completely fine. My CSIP told me Cirrus was looking into it but haven't gotten a definitive answer yet on whats causing it.

Great video! As for the radio issues you are experiencing in a few of your videos now, I'd say it's just defective, plain and simple. Straight swap out would be my preference. The bird is still brand new.
@kylezinn7652Күн бұрын
Now that I'm thinking about this, it could possibly be one of your cameras causing the issue. Electrical talk so to keep it simple, maybe unplug one and then a second one. Try a flight with no cameras in other words and plug one in as you progress.

Sounds like the squelch is set to sensitive… good videos !!
@flying_scott21 сағат бұрын
I thought that too, but it only happens on certain frequencies.
@daveo32729 сағат бұрын
@@flying_scott Love the video!!! Saw your comment on the COM static breaking through. I thought the same thing on the squelch. My first thought is that the auto squelch is being too sensitive. Made me miss the days of manual squelch control. Have you tried turning the squelch up? Back when I was training shifting between frequencies I was always changing my squelch - made me think it was atmospherics - some days were worse than others. Just a thought.

@ unlike my old 430, there is no place to adjust the SQ that I found. The only SQ setting is for my voice.

@kevinklassen43286 сағат бұрын
I'm assuming it's not just a squelch issue with the radio?
@flying_scottСағат бұрын
No, I don’t think it is, but unlike an older GNS 430, I can’t mess with the squelch sensitivity, other than the one for my voice clipping.
